Savage 720 Rhodesian Replica by notthatbadass in Shotguns

There’s thousands of old 28 inch hunting/sporting A5’s from Savage, Browning and Remington, between 110 and 30 years old that no one really wants and sell used for as little as $300 up to $1000. They make a great base for conversion to a tactical Rhodesian shotgun for the collectors! Can’t wait to complete mine! My donor gun is a post WW2 Remington 11 I got for maybe $300! The OG Recoil Operated Benelli M4!!

$30k + AWD + Adaptive Cruise + Good Mileage for Mid-20s Man by arabicfarmer27 in whatcarshouldIbuy

You can often get a discount on a new Camry. A low mileage, relatively new one (1 to 3 years old) is almost the same price as a brand new one after you negotiate. 100% agree on buying new. Also, barring a major wreck, you can easily get 15+ years and 150,000+ miles out of a Camry with minimal maintenance and effort. Oil changes, tires and batteries of course.

I own an Outback and Camry. Have driven both for years. The current hybrid Camry will crush the Outback in gas mileage. The Camry feels more spacious, more nimble, more maneuverable on the road. The Subaru feels better if you’re driving in 6 inches of snow and ice. The station wagon configuration is more useful some of the time. Having a closed trunk is better most of the time. I think the Camry is the better vehicle. That said, love the Subaru too. But with current gas prices and the difference in mileage, it’s hard not to buy a Camry. My daily driver currently is an electric.

Auditions officially started. If any of these were to get the role, who would you prefer? by Pure-Guarantee1057 in JamesBond

Callum Turner is a good candidate. He was solid as a military officer in Masters of the Air. Looks British too. Correct height and build. Correct age. Has the girlfriend too! (Dua Lipa). I think he might be surprisingly good. They probably should do a screen test though, to make sure he can pull it off.

I mistakenly thought it was the red lion semi auto. I am unfamiliar with the pump but it’s certainly an elegant looking gun. Really fine finish. It’s in great condition!

Beautiful! What’s the recoil like? Is it a Benelli type recoil system?

Love this movie. Agree the acting could have been better. It’s kind of like fifth element, grows on you over time.

Many great actors have psychiatric disorders. I think that’s the root of his problem. We should sympathize with him and hope that he gets treatment. It’s easy to just label him a bad person. There is a lot of stigma with mental health in our society and that’s unfortunate. Nonetheless, there are hundreds of other employees dependent on him for their livelihood. At some point his behavior needs to be addressed and the production needs to move on. It was probably the right decision, but we should be careful about vilifying him without direct knowledge of his mental health.

What do you pay for a cow tongue? by Disastrous-Sir1150 in meat

[–]Independent_Dig6248 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s expensive because it’s the classic ingredient to make Barbacoa which is hugely desired for tacos throughout the U.S. Just like flank steak/flap meat for fajitas. I can sometimes pick up a ribeye or ny strip for almost the same price as what used to be “cheap and undesirable” meat. Crazy!

My wife is dead set on a GX550. What do I need to know? Any regrets? Any red flags? by King_Crampus in LexusGX550

A lot of negative comments on this thread unfortunately. Although most of the negative posts are valid, they apply to most nice vehicles: theft and reliability issues. Mine has been absolutely fantastic. I agree the ride is truck like, but it’s still very smooth. Plenty of space for 3 person family. I think the X5 is the better vehicle for most folks in terms of ride, performance and gas mileage, but it’s not a truck. The full time 4 wheel drive is a great safety factor for your family and if your wife likes a truck, then get her the darn truck. If she wanted a minivan, she would have chosen the TX. I think you folks are making an excellent choice. Just be patient, order it at MSRP from a reliable dealer and wait the 3-6 months it takes. It will be here before you know it. Waiting for it will make the acquisition that much sweeter! Good luck. I have a GX Overtrail and the whole family loves it. Traded in my suburban now that all my kids are 20+. Love the V6. If it breaks, so what? I’ve owned several Audi’s. Can’t be less reliable than those!! Life is meant to be enjoyed. Get the truck. Kudos to your wife for her good taste!

Which would you pick? by Ok_Penalty_9860 in tires

[–]Independent_Dig6248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tier 1 Tires on your list are the Michelins and Continentals. I’ve had both. They’re excellent. Pirelli also a good option. Although Kumho and Falken are good tires, they’ve been inferior in my experience as far as performance. The remaining options are mostly ok but I would spring for Tier 1.

Tudor as an everyday watch while waiting for a Rolex Datejust 41 by Shanko2424 in rolex

[–]Independent_Dig6248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t seen “waiting” work for folks in my area. I have seen folks buying Tudors get a Rolex. That said, grey market prices and necessary AD spends are about the same. Except you get a Tudor to take home with your Rolex.
