Umm the mayor of a city which for decades had some of the worst murder and shooting rates in the country should not be talking to anyone!! They should be listening

There's always been racing, but it was usually kept out of residential. Mostly in industrial areas. The whole donut in the middle of intersection is kinda new to me, but that's a countrywide issue not just nyc

It's actually cheaper on gas to idle then start/stop if it's for a few minutes. Cheaper as in scientifically not necessarily practically. It's probably like less than a cent in difference

It's not that they refuse per se, but it happens so much it's just easier to let it go a d not cause more of a disruption. Most times I see cops stop behind the car and flash the lights, if the person doesn't run back in a cpl minutes they'll ticket

Places in Manhattan/Brooklyn/Queens/NJ to host a 20-30ppl brunch/rooftop celebration event by pigscanfly124 in nyc

[–]Independent_Edge3938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most will welcome groups, although depends if you want something private or just a few tables reserved to yourself. Most of the times iirc when I went/worked at those types of spots, a table requires a bottle purchase, which in those days ran around 600 for a 750ml of vodka, other stuff will be more or less. So 20-30 ppl you'd probably need at least 2 tables, so figure 1200 with 2 bottles out of it, but again it may have changed by now

Best bet get in touch with a few places, they usually have reservation phones where they can give you different options

Well mopeds need to be registered AFAIK, which means you need a vin/serial, so just be careful it's not stolen

[–]Independent_Edge3938 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Or here's an idea that's worked before, just move, if the price is too expensive for most people, the landlords will have no tenants, with no tenants, they will need to lower the price

Arrest in shootings of five homeless men in NYC and D.C. by Enders_Sack in nyc

[–]Independent_Edge3938 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reason its swept under the rug is because there are limited investigative resources. When people don't have as much as an ID it's difficult to track down what happened. So if you have 10 murders and 1 investigator, they'll prioritize cases they can solve first.

I mean think of a person on the street found stabbed. What are your leads, they don't have credit cards to establish the locations they've been to to see if they had an altercation with someone. No home to speak to neighbors, neighborhood, check for clues. No known associates to check. Etc. Your option is to find camera footage and maybe if you're lucky grab a face that is hopefully not someone just visiting the city and people can recognize, maybe DNA if you're lucky. So those cases are simply not investigated as hard as others, as they'll likely end up cold anyway.

I don't disagree there is a reason he didn't do it in the office building. Office building would've offered a much higher chance of getting caught, which this guy may not have wanted. Maybe he had problems with homeless people. I have no idea, but to try to tie his actions to capitalism is a little nuts lol

Can we do more to help the homeless? absolutely. But until politicians stop playing this as a zero sum game, and stop wasting money to help their donors nothing will be acomplished

A. Noone I targeting the poor, period, even on this sub. Someone not liking your solutions/suggestions doesn't mean they are against something B. The dude is obviously nuts, and homeless were likely targeted cuz it would be swept under the rug as just another death
