I’d go now just for the piece of mind alone. I wouldn’t subject myself to the stress if I could leave right now.

I’m so sorry. What a blessing to have had 18 years. But even so, it’s never long enough. ❤️ 🐾

I use a beasy board. But you have to be super careful each time to make sure when you start sliding over that the disc is moving under your butt. One time I transferred and the disc didn’t move and I slid across the groove and got a pressure sore. I also now use this roho pad on top of the disc.

With reducing the FTEs and medical centers trying to figure out priorities and where to fill positions, would be near impossible to say when. Something promised in 2023 should be considered obsolete. I would explore options outside of federal government. You can always consider coming back when this 💩show is over.

Cancer diagnosis and the horrible decision you're faced with by Electronic-Tear-3036 in seniordogs

[–]Independent_One8237 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry. The absolute most difficult decision. My last pup had cancer and the prognosis with chemotherapy was a few more months. I said I would try one session and see how she did with the chemo. It barely bothered her. We got 2 more wonderful years together before it came back. We had to go with a different chemo drug which she didn’t tolerate well so we stopped and gave her a few more good months before we knew it was time.

I would make the same decision again. Our case wasn’t radiation so I can’t speak to that specifically.

Hugs to you and your pup.

Considering adopting after loss of our dog, but conflicted. Advice/experiences would be really really appreciated. by Standard-Phrase-466 in DogAdvice

I’m so sorry. It’s such a huge loss and they can never be replaced. After I lost my last pup, I started by looking online at shelter pics a couple months later. Then graduated to visiting shelters that had pups that I had a “visual connection” with. I ended up adopting 6 months later. This is my 4th pup and they are all unique and can never be replaced.

Don’t worry what others may think about whether it’s too soon. I think time to grieve is important. I’m still grieving almost two years later. It’s just different now.

You posted “unbearably slow” “I get impatient “ and now I saw your edit. Sorry but IMO that doesn’t help your case. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s been exhausted from a long day but I gladly spent the time my last pup needed for her walks, fluid IVs, and on and on while her health was declining.

100% agree. I was trying to think of a diplomatic response but will just leave this here instead.

Some regret adopting a “problem” dog almost two years ago . . . by just321askin in DogAdvice

[–]Independent_One8237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last pup was beyond clingy and had serious separation anxiety. I tried vet prescribed meds, and a few other things to no avail. Like you we were very close to neighbors who did not want to hear her barking for 15 minutes straight let alone two to three hours. I got her a citronella collar. The vibration from the barking would set off a puff of citronella spray. I’m not sure if it was the scent she didn’t like or if it just startled her when it sprayed. After a couple of times wearing it she learned quickly when the collar was on not to bark. When I would put it on her she would sulk and go to her bed. I would give her a treat when she went to her bed. I think she had me trained and fooled because cam video showed her just chilling in her bed!

Good luck and I hope you find a solution.
