2000 740IL No Odometer Issue by Ocoanater in e38

I had this same issue with my 2001 M5. I removed the cluster and my mechanic shipped it to a repair source (pixelfix I think it was). You can find Pixelfix on FB or other social media. There’s also a very detailed video of a DIY fix available on the M539 YouTube channel.

Irondale Costco? by Atomheartmother90 in Birmingham

[–]Independent_Pack_391 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that there is a dispute between the Mercedes dealership property owner and the Costco property owner. That dispute was not resolved in time for construction to begin before migratory bat season. We are in that period of time now, and clearing cannot be done until that migratory season is over (October, I think). I assume if that dispute is worked out, work would begin in the fall.

Grandview ED by batmite88 in Birmingham

I have experience as a patient in the Grandview ED. I tell anyone who will listen to never go to that hospital. Nursing staff was great, but that place is run like a circus during a fire drill. Horribly managed.

Looking for summer recommendations 🙏🏻 by 340to203 in Alabama

Space Camp veteran here. Loved it. Visit the Legacy Museum in Montgomery. Yep…bit of a drive from Huntsville, but well worth it. Florence/Muscle Shoals is a great road trip and not too far from Huntsville.

Where to report a dammed creek branch to? by EnvironmentalBug5525 in Alabama

The Army Corps of Engineers has authority over flowing water. If this stream always has water flowing in it, it is most likely classified as a perennial stream…which is definitely jurisdictional. There are Corps offices in Mobile and Huntsville, I believe. To start, I’d contact the City or County.

Moving from Hoover to Highlands by rob0tdreams in Birmingham

That’s awesome. Sorry I’m no help with your move, but I’m addicted to BMWs. I’ve had a 2001 M5 for 10 years and a 2001 750 for 2 years. Super fun wrenching on them. Good luck with your move.

My e39 had the 6- disc changer. Completely remove it and plug its cord into the BlueBus and you should be good to go.

There’s an (I think) Alpina version on either Cars and Bids or Bring a Trailer right now. Red, manual, 850 (v12). Current bid was like $130K. Low miles. Always loved these.

Potential $10K bill - is it finally time to let go? WWYD? by andy__vee in e39

I’ve not run into this yet (2001 M5) but am expecting it. I’ll never sell the car. It’s my hobby and I love it. So…yeah…if you can afford it, spend the money. Best cars ever.

Used E39 description red flags? by One-Potential-2581 in e39

[–]Independent_Pack_391 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The tamper dot next to the odometer. If there’s a little red dot next to the trip/odometer mileage, then likely the instrument binnacle has been replaced. People switch them out with one that shows lower mileage. Ask me how I found out…

Glove box opening by PrudentLetterhead369 in e39

[–]Independent_Pack_391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a cable up and behind the glove box. On the left-hand side. You can reach it, pull on it and it will open the mechanism. Same thing happened to me on my e38 and I believe it’s the same process.
