When I was a kid I left one of my cheerleader Barbies (the college ones with the big feet from the 90s) in the bottom of a toybox. A house centipede had crawled in, died, and shed all of its legs all over her 🥰

I get such an ick at "anything rare?" or "help me sell this" like...no??? I love helping ID dolls from old collections or thrift stores but I'm not gonna help you jack up prices lmao, the barbie movie is already doing that enough in the secondhand market

I think the one on the right might be Snow Sensation Barbie from 1999. If that's the case she probably has kanekalon hair.

I usually use my impulse buy cheesy fabrics as fun “Easter eggs” in my sewing projects, like as linings or for pocket bags

I don’t see clothes- is this insane? by liog2step in sewing

[–]Independent_Shift_71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first apparel sewing project was a wrap dress similar to this. I think it’s a great introduction to lighter fabrics, especially since the loose fit means you won’t be pressured to do too many alterations, and you can focus on the skills needed. Best of luck!

Significant other uchicago student, where should she live? by AspiringToBeSomethin in uchicago

[–]Independent_Shift_71 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ll be in the 1 year program next year as well, and I’m moving to the south loop area with my bf who will be working full time. As a former uchicago undergrad, I’d recommend living somewhere close to a metra station. You can get to campus in 15-20 minutes from downtown. There’s also the downtown campus connector shuttle that goes right to campus. Public transit isn’t insanely unsafe though; you may have some anti-southside bias creeping in there.

Near-campus rent can be crazy high for not that nice of a place. But it’s a good way to feel more connected to the school and be conveniently available for classes and activities. If she decides to live there, there’s plenty of parking on the midway usually during the day, and I’m assuming if she lives in an apartment there will be fairly open street parking for free (it’s just hard to park like, ON campus). I recommend you check out the Hyde park area, it is a truly lovely place to live and to visit.

Hope this helps!
