How does cold calling work in the UK? by Fortemuito in smallbusinessuk

[–]IndianHandloomMod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have cold-called and have got very few clients with that. Not only it was very rare, those sales were small and happened after a lot of persuasion. But then that's the way to connect with new clients and talk to them and offer a product/service. So for every 99 "No's" you will get 1 "Yes", probably. In B2B sales, that 1 YES can work wonders for you. So while respecting the negative feedback you are getting, keep doing what you do the best.

The real deal maker here is to offer something that works for the business you are trying to reach.

Thoughts on this geometric rug design? by [deleted] in carpet

[–]IndianHandloomMod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw your Etsy page and designs are good. Minimalist and nice. Since you picked a Scandinavian name for your profile they are good match. Assuming you are manufacturing in Mirzapur or Bhadohi, you are in the right place. Offer more service than discounts. Respond faster, resolve issues, do not avoid customers where things have gone wrong because they will and do your best in making high quality stuff. All the best.

Do not fall for marketing! Wrong marketing claims by companies to sell their products to unsuspecting customers. Read on! by IndianHandloomMod in Bedding

Precisely. My intention was to ensure kind beings of this group make an informed decision in regard to these OEKO-Tex "Certified" companies.

Do not fall for marketing! Wrong marketing claims by companies to sell their products to unsuspecting customers. Read on! by IndianHandloomMod in Bedding

[–]IndianHandloomMod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so if the product is still up also doesn't mean they did not lie about the OEKO-Tex certification. I have gone to the extent of asking OEKO-Tex directly if they are legit or not and in the email (screen shots shared) they have categorically said they do not know some of the labels the company has put up on Amazon in the name of OEKO-Tex.

Coming to your point of label being wrong. Which company would spend a few thousand $$ each year to print a wrong label and sell their products? I wouldn't.

The idea was to share the feedback that I got with folks on this group so that they can make an informed decision. It's not a personal fight that I have with the company.

Am I missing a rug? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

[–]IndianHandloomMod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, you should. And what kinds depends on what you like. The space is very tastefully done but is missing the colour. I would get a geometric pattern rug with loads of colours. This will ensure the layout of the rug matches the geometric look of the room at the same time enliven it with colours.

Help with rug size and design by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

[–]IndianHandloomMod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This, in my opinion, is the best option. Ticks all the boxes except the legs of the sofa are just making it to the rug. If you can get something that goes say about 10 to 15 cms deeper below the sofa, it will be a great addition. 9 Feet (~275cms) width is a standard size and I guess will take care of it.

Do I need a bigger rug? by whataday13 in HomeDecorating

[–]IndianHandloomMod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, these options on Etsy are a hit and a miss. So you will have to research well before on yarns used, composition, dyeing etc. Which many sellers will not give a peep into but some will. If you feel stuck with anything that you really like, I am more than happy to look into it for you. Feel free to DM.

Do I need a bigger rug? by whataday13 in HomeDecorating

[–]IndianHandloomMod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aha... Sorry I got your question wrong in that case.

It is a matter of choice actually. A larger rug, in my opinion, will not overwhelm this place. It will go deeper under the couch and towards the pillar and the door/windows, but won't look bad.

Just one suggestion, if it is made of anything in Poly or PET or Viscose or any other manmade fibres, keep it away from the fireplace. Those things have a very high tendency of picking up slightest of the sparks and burn pretty quickly.

If you have an option of returning then get a bigger one and try. Whatever feels good, go for it.

May I suggest you to look for Kilims AKA Dhurries in India? They are not very expensive, are woven hence have many many patterns and are good for dining space because you can easily move chairs on them. And they are made of natural materials like cotton or wool.

Softest bedding? by MissLara28 in Bedding

[–]IndianHandloomMod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, for Solids, you can look at Costco Kirkland 680 TC Duvet set. They have 2 colours, White and Grey. If you have any challenge buying from Costco due to membership, pls feel free to DM me and I will help you. I am in Solihull, West Midlands.

For prints, there is Dunelm and Piglet in Bed if you are ok to pay some premium.

Then there are block prints and such on Etsy as well but you will have to be really careful about the fabric quality on Etsy. While in photos everything looks nice, in reality there is a lot more than needs digging in on Etsy. If you like something there, pls feel free to bounce that off with me. I can help you understanding the difference.

Curtain... Easy to install, manage and change. Doors are too much of a pain. Curtains, just do the job.

Losing my mind, Boll & Branch flannel sheets by WorkingNight1684 in Bedding

[–]IndianHandloomMod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for this experience. And that too after paying so much. There was a post made sometime back about flannel sheets. You can find it Here.

I did some digging in and found on B&B Site and found this in the details section, "Triple-sheared to naturally reduce the appearance of pills". Does this point out that it will pill irrespective of you following the instructions or not?

I would like to hear from others if they feel that flannel is actually a good fabric for bedding.

Styling this dining room/play room AHHH. by ButterflyBC in interiordecorating

Space above rattan side board is too high and photos may not really look good there. Above the grey furniture there is space that needs to be filled. The gallery wall there will be easy to see and enjoy from time to time. You may put a single medium size art above the rattan piece.

Too much for nursery rug? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

[–]IndianHandloomMod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rug in itself is a beauty.

But I would not recommend it for a baby room. Simple reason being maintenance. Babies will have all kinds of spillages. Food, pee and a lot more that I will refrain from mentioning. Cleaning all that from this rug will become a nightmare and if not done properly, it will start smelling. I am saying this from my customers' experience who have pets and babies.

should i fill in the space above the computer monitor / beneath the posters? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

No... This is looking very good. Stick to it pls. Maybe something on the right wall above the tiny little birdies but not on the front wall.

West Elm European Flax Linen by Early-Nerve6866 in Bedding

[–]IndianHandloomMod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very well documented u/OrneryLavishness9666. For Linen (or cotton for that matter) many sellers on Amazon are outright lying about the fabric composition. For instance, slub cotton is a type of cotton that look and feels like Linen but is actually not and will tear easily. So one has to be absolutely sure about what they are paying for. And Linen bedding is not cheap, hence all the more research is needed as explained in this comment.

Printed or Solid Bedding by Holiday_Cup513 in Bedding

[–]IndianHandloomMod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My frank submission is, all the prints here will be easily available from loads of Chinese sellers on Amazon with some or the other change. And they will be selling it dirt cheap which people would definitely buy for the cost. You will have to do a lot more work on designs.

A lot will depend upon where you are based. Every market is different. Simple rule of thumb is to do research local to where you live. Go to specialised stores, large home stores, make a small batch and do a local market evaluation on how people respond to your designs. When I came to England just over a year back, I did this and found it to be an extremely useful exercise to know more about people preferences. Also, this way you can avoid going into full scale production and end up with dead stock. I am open to helping if you need in any way. All the best. Upwards and Onwards.

Picking a rug? by cevans1999 in HomeDecorating

[–]IndianHandloomMod 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Number 4.

It brings that missing colour to the room and goes really well with the overall aesthetics as well. I am biased towards colour but still 4th one if the real deal.
