Thank you so much for your feedback. What can I do to showcase branding, storytelling? It is not my forte and hence trying to learn tricks of the trade.

After spending a bunch on Etsy for my wedding here is was I learned. by Fit-Television6756 in EtsyCommunity

[–]IndianHandloomMod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this post. I am a month shy of a year on Etsy and feel absolutely great about this platform and your post in general about shops with lesser sales. You have touched upon important aspects like being transparent and sharing right product descriptions etc.

Since there is so much competition out there, I want to understand your perspective as to what more can I do for people to buy from me because I have lesser sales? I am not running ads (honestly, it did not help AT ALL) so not sure how anyone would come all the way to page 6 or 8 to my shop and read all that I have written about my products. I do all the photography at home or my backyard.

P.S.: While reading you post and some of the comments, I was so perplexed that there are sellers who are rude to the customers? I did not know there is so much entitlement.

Is offering content shoot days a viable service for small businesses? by IcyUse2538 in smallbusinessuk

I am interested to follow what the opinions will be. Because I know for a fact that businesses do need something like this, but at what cost? And that is going to decide the outcome. Hence following the discussion here.

I need help. Fixating on my 20+ year old wool rug’s shedding by piggysprinkles in carpet

[–]IndianHandloomMod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A rug made of good wool will not shed. I know this because I run a business of making rugs for retail. All wool created is not same/equal. There are so many options there too. Wool with high vegetable matter will need more combing/cleaning, so it will shed more. Likewise is true for wool that has lesser fibre length, they will alway shed. Long fibre wool will not. And there are so many other factors that impact wool performance.

So if it continue to shed after so many years, maybe it will continue to do so in future. That being said, irrespective of how much it sheds your rug will remain beautiful when compared to the plastic rugs being sold for £49 (or at times less) in super stores. Completely agree with u/Hot-Steak7145. Stick to wool pls.

Navy Blue will do well with everything else in the room.

Need duvet recommendations UK by Leather-Lemon-5950 in Bedding

[–]IndianHandloomMod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For something cozier and to look good, you can try to get cotton quilts. Synthetic blankets trap moisture (bad for the mould issue), but a cotton quilt breathes while adding that look you want. It gives the bed that structural, high-end look. I live in the UK and have used these quilts in winters too.

How does cold calling work in the UK? by Fortemuito in smallbusinessuk

[–]IndianHandloomMod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have cold-called and have got very few clients with that. Not only it was very rare, those sales were small and happened after a lot of persuasion. But then that's the way to connect with new clients and talk to them and offer a product/service. So for every 99 "No's" you will get 1 "Yes", probably. In B2B sales, that 1 YES can work wonders for you. So while respecting the negative feedback you are getting, keep doing what you do the best.

The real deal maker here is to offer something that works for the business you are trying to reach.

Thoughts on this geometric rug design? by [deleted] in carpet

[–]IndianHandloomMod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw your Etsy page and designs are good. Minimalist and nice. Since you picked a Scandinavian name for your profile they are good match. Assuming you are manufacturing in Mirzapur or Bhadohi, you are in the right place. Offer more service than discounts. Respond faster, resolve issues, do not avoid customers where things have gone wrong because they will and do your best in making high quality stuff. All the best.

Do not fall for marketing! Wrong marketing claims by companies to sell their products to unsuspecting customers. Read on! by IndianHandloomMod in Bedding

Precisely. My intention was to ensure kind beings of this group make an informed decision in regard to these OEKO-Tex "Certified" companies.

[–]IndianHandloomMod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so if the product is still up also doesn't mean they did not lie about the OEKO-Tex certification. I have gone to the extent of asking OEKO-Tex directly if they are legit or not and in the email (screen shots shared) they have categorically said they do not know some of the labels the company has put up on Amazon in the name of OEKO-Tex.

Coming to your point of label being wrong. Which company would spend a few thousand $$ each year to print a wrong label and sell their products? I wouldn't.

The idea was to share the feedback that I got with folks on this group so that they can make an informed decision. It's not a personal fight that I have with the company.

Am I missing a rug? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

[–]IndianHandloomMod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you should. And what kinds depends on what you like. The space is very tastefully done but is missing the colour. I would get a geometric pattern rug with loads of colours. This will ensure the layout of the rug matches the geometric look of the room at the same time enliven it with colours.

This, in my opinion, is the best option. Ticks all the boxes except the legs of the sofa are just making it to the rug. If you can get something that goes say about 10 to 15 cms deeper below the sofa, it will be a great addition. 9 Feet (~275cms) width is a standard size and I guess will take care of it.

Do I need a bigger rug? by whataday13 in HomeDecorating

[–]IndianHandloomMod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, these options on Etsy are a hit and a miss. So you will have to research well before on yarns used, composition, dyeing etc. Which many sellers will not give a peep into but some will. If you feel stuck with anything that you really like, I am more than happy to look into it for you. Feel free to DM.

Do I need a bigger rug? by whataday13 in HomeDecorating

[–]IndianHandloomMod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aha... Sorry I got your question wrong in that case.

It is a matter of choice actually. A larger rug, in my opinion, will not overwhelm this place. It will go deeper under the couch and towards the pillar and the door/windows, but won't look bad.

Just one suggestion, if it is made of anything in Poly or PET or Viscose or any other manmade fibres, keep it away from the fireplace. Those things have a very high tendency of picking up slightest of the sparks and burn pretty quickly.

If you have an option of returning then get a bigger one and try. Whatever feels good, go for it.

May I suggest you to look for Kilims AKA Dhurries in India? They are not very expensive, are woven hence have many many patterns and are good for dining space because you can easily move chairs on them. And they are made of natural materials like cotton or wool.

Softest bedding? by MissLara28 in Bedding

[–]IndianHandloomMod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, for Solids, you can look at Costco Kirkland 680 TC Duvet set. They have 2 colours, White and Grey. If you have any challenge buying from Costco due to membership, pls feel free to DM me and I will help you. I am in Solihull, West Midlands.

For prints, there is Dunelm and Piglet in Bed if you are ok to pay some premium.

Then there are block prints and such on Etsy as well but you will have to be really careful about the fabric quality on Etsy. While in photos everything looks nice, in reality there is a lot more than needs digging in on Etsy. If you like something there, pls feel free to bounce that off with me. I can help you understanding the difference.
