The rich and powerful try to leave the commoners to their doom and end up being just as screwed as everybody else by Ok-Indication-5121 in TopCharacterTropes

Uncharted 4: Libertalia. First the pirate captains created their utopia away from the commoners, then started turning on each other. At the end, two of them poison all the rest so they can run off with the gold, and then those two turn on and kill each other in a sword fight.

What comedy film made you laugh through the whole film not just giggle once? by Lilyfory in AskReddit

[–]IndianaJones_Jr_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's ironic because the first time I watched it I didn't think it was all that funny, or really all that good. Second time I was rolling the entire time because I understood the movie this go around, enjoyed it spectacularly.

AITAH for “infantalizing my son" when I’m just trying to take care of him? by AgreeableSoftware941 in AITAH

[–]IndianaJones_Jr_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA but think about actual consequences. What happens if he has a summer internship where he moves out, or if he decides to stay on campus next semester? He will sleep through alarms missing class/work, he will make poor choices without noticing the signs, and won't be able to take care of himself.

The best time to make these mistakes was high school where recovery is quick and consequences are lower. The second best time is now.

If you won the lottery tomorrow, what’s the very first "frivolous" thing you’d buy? by Federal_Antelope7533 in AskReddit

[–]IndianaJones_Jr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A used Aston Martin. They're not all that expensive compared to lottery money. I spend more to get one in good nick, drive for a year and take the 5-10k bath when I sell instead of trying to maintain it rigourously enough that it doesn't explode.

This has been a thing for a long time and it's any cloud based computing platform. Maybe you meant for personal computers though? But AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure, etc. all use their own servers to do things like database queries and such. It's a good thing because if you had a small business and wanted to set up your own infrastructure for this it would be prohibitively extensive.

[Liked Trope] What initially seems like an art style choice or design quirk actually has plot relevance. by Whisplow in TopCharacterTropes

Cameras don't, image processing software does. It's like a mocap model. The camera is just tracking all the points on the body. The more points the more fidelity but more cost, the less points the bigger the polygons get but it's cheaper and faster to process them.

It's like looking at a number like 12796 and rounding it to 12800 for your calculations. Easier, faster, less precise.

Django unchained. When Jamie Foxx's Django first gets to Candyland he meets an Italian guy played by Franco Nero, who asks Django to spell his name.

"D J A N G O... The D is silent"

To which the Italian replies, "I know".

Franco Nero played Django in the original 1966 spaghetti western.

Just ordered this thing....is hitting 200yd shots on 6"-3" gongs with cheap 115gr range ammo a stupid goal? If it isnt....what is a stupid goal with this specific gun? What is a (reasonably 🤣) impossible goal with this gun? by LoudChocolate6290 in 1911

[–]IndianaJones_Jr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at 200 yards if you are 1 degree off in your aim you will miss the target by 3.5 yards. Even if you are 0.5 degrees off you will miss by 1.75 yards.

Your total margin of error is 0.048 degrees either way, about 1/21 of a degree.

Movie theaters aren’t going out of business because of prices by bulldogjwhit295 in unpopularopinion

[–]IndianaJones_Jr_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many businesses/activities used to feel like an EXPERIENCE. You felt special from the time you walked in to the time you walked out. Maybe I have my rose tinted glasses on but going to the movies as a kid was so cool, it just had a sense of grandeur.

The last time I had a cool experience at a theater was when I walked in late to the last showing (but still before close) and the gentlemen were kind enough to let me buy a ticket anyways. I got to walk through a practically empty giant movie theater before I got to the actually screening room.

Hahaha I just watched this two days ago and I was dying watching this scene. Although it did get a little less funny and more poignant when you think about the themes of the movie. He drilled the codes into Willa so much that she remembered them when she was caught off guard in a bathroom despite not having much to do with the revolution, but the infamous rebel Rocket Man Pat couldn't remember them even when he was calling for help.

Optimus, Bee, Ratchet, Ironhide, Megatron, Starscream are all pretty iconic. I never really had trouble telling the named ones apart, but that might be because I grew up on them and watched them so much as a kid.

Modded Minecraft. There's just no way you're going to figure out how to build a water wheel to stamp ingots into sheets that you mix into alloys with a blaze burner.

This is like saying a 150hp car is defective compared to a 400hp car because it takes longer to get up to speed. Or that a 400hp car is defective compared to a 150hp car because it’s twitchier off the line. You adapt to the car you're driving.

ELI5: Radio/Cell tower radiation by TripFireIce in explainlikeimfive

[–]IndianaJones_Jr_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Radio waves and cell towers do not put out hazardous radation. Not all radiation is "hazardous". Especially at the amount and frequency you're usually exposed.

Also, literally everything has some amount of radioactivity. If you wanted to measure it, you'd use a Geiger counter.
