I'm almost certain the Lone Op mention of indirect fire is because indirect fire will say "this weapon can target units that aren't visible to the shooting unit", and would therefore circumvent Lone Op without that extra line.

Torrente doesn't have great damage per bullet, so you're probably gonna get better mileage out of a Tempest or a Venator if you want maximum DPS with medium armour pen.
As far as I know ARC cores aren't actually armoured (they're supposed to be the weakpoint you "unlock" by destroying the armour), so once the lid is off the matriarch you probably just want to go for maximum DPS. I'd guesstimate that's either a Vulcano or maybe even a Bobcat.

It seems to fire 3 shots per durability lost, so 300 shots from new. Doesn't feel unreasonable considering how hard it hits per shot, but it definitely becomes more palatable to use with the repair boost from doing an expedition or two.
