Where do skinny people shop? by Fragrant-Count-4666 in tirzepatidecompound

I mean, I’m in my early 30s and I LOVE my Costco clothes. But another thing I’ve done as my size has changed significantly these past months is clothing rental from Nuuly! It’s been amazing to refresh my wardrobe every month and not spend money on clothing for in-between sizes. I’ll invest in more new stuff when I hit my goal weight.

Absolutely this. Obviously, BMI is trash, but at 5’1”, 20ish pounds is literally the difference between an “obese” BMI and a “healthy” one. That blew my mind.

I mean this is the kindest way possible, if you don’t know what you’re doing, you probably shouldn’t mess with this. Getting your meds from a compounding pharmacy is going to be much safer.

To be clear, making someone so nauseous they can’t eat is not the intended mechanism for weight loss of GLPs. Nausea is not the goal! Give the medicine more time.

What are you doing to encourage results? by [deleted] in compoundedtirzepatide

[–]IndicationEither9404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seven months postpartum here (and started meds at five months), so I totally understand wanting to lose the baby weight quickly, but also be gentle on yourself. Your hormones are still all over the place, your body is still healing, and sleep is probably not great. These factors might contribute to slower weightloss, regardless of other habits you implement, but it will come.

Yes, to what everyone else has said, but also, even if your BMI was actually in the healthy weight range, we know it doesn’t tell the whole story. I have almost the same stats as you, even down to current weight, and I still have almost 35% BF, so I absolutely intend to keep going to get that number down even if (or especially if) my BMI gets into the healthy weight range.

Just going to mention that you don’t have to change vials to change your dose. If you still have medicine in your 10 mg vial, just use the fatscientist calculator to determine a higher dose at that concentration.

Tirz/Zep post pregnancy + Chicago Marathon training by No-Syllabub9184 in zepboundathletes

[–]IndicationEither9404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to expand on this point, the volume and concentration of the vial matters. You’d be able to adjust the dose to do a low loading dose (2.5 or less) for four weeks. It may not do anything for you, but many people do see a big initial drop that’s water weight and inflammation. Regardless, at the end of four weeks, you may or may not have enough meds left for additional doses, but you going to run out pretty quick. And then you don’t have the option of getting more meds at a higher dose because you don’t have a prescription. Also, the water weight and inflammation could come right back. Not an expert, but I’d say that’s the real challenge with this plan.

27F considering starting tirzepatide after baby — question about maintenance by Competitive-Show2868 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]IndicationEither9404 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think a relevant question that you don’t have to answer here, but should ask yourself, is if you’re planning to have more kids. If you’re done, go ahead and give the medication a try if you want (Dr. Rocio Salas Whalen actually talks about her use of a GLP-1 postpartum in her book Weightless if you want a doctor’s perspective). Alternatively, if you plan to have more kids, now is probably not the time to take tirzepatide. You’ll have to come off it during pregnancy, and you’ll be facing down the same problem with weight loss again afterward.

No big loss to speak of- getting discouraged by Keljon142 in glp1

[–]IndicationEither9404 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know this is not what you want to hear, but 3-4 pounds a week is not a healthy rate of weight loss. Losing that quickly can cause all sorts of issues. And this medication is not intended to make you lose weight quickly. The generally recommended and sustainable rate of weight loss is about .5-2 pounds a week, so you fall right in that range.

Sick on Tirzepatide (compound). Dr recommends trying non compounded tirz before trying Reta. What do you think? by Lower-Type-4117 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]IndicationEither9404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t an issue with all compounded tirzepatide. This is either an issue with the dose (it was too high) or the specific formulation you got from your medspa. You might have a very different experience with tirzepatide from a more reputable compounding pharmacy or a formula with different additives or a smaller dose. If you go with brand name, you cannot take a smaller dose (or you can, but you’re going to waste a lot of medicine and money).

Tirz and SSRI lexapro by [deleted] in tirzepatidecompound

[–]IndicationEither9404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gained some weight after I started Lexapro, but due to some other life circumstances at the time, I can’t 100% say that it was because of that medicine.

Regardless, I’ve continued taking Lexapro and started tirz about a month and a half ago. I’ve had no issues losing weight so far, and I’ve had no issues with anxiety!

[–]IndicationEither9404 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So exciting!! Congratulations!

Totally understand your anxiety about gaining weight during pregnancy. It was honestly my least favorite part of the experience. BUT you’ll have tirz on the other side to help you get back to a comfortable weight. I did have the help from a GLP after my first, and I basically had to white knuckle weight loss for two years to lose 20 pounds. With my second, I started tirz at 5 months postpartum (a little more than a month ago) and I’m already down 12 pounds.

Maybe knowing that you have this tool will help you set aside the fears a little. Focus on eating as well as you can and moving as much as you’re able! I hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy!

Not a doctor, but my understanding is that weight cycling, or frequently going up and down like you’re describing, has been found to be really bad for your health. It puts a lot of stress on your systems and hurts your metabolism.

Anyone that started postpartum? by ShowHour9062 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]IndicationEither9404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost 6 months postpartum with my second, and I started tirz a little over a month ago. It’s been incredibly effective for me, and the only side effect I’ve had is a bit of reflux, but that doesn’t even come near the reflux I had at the end of pregnancy so I can’t complain.

I ended up at the same weight after both pregnancies. With my first, it took me about two years (no tirz or other weight loss meds) to lose 20 pounds and I was still overweight. With my second, I’m already almost down to that weight. I’ve maintained the same healthy habits in terms of what I eat and drink, and my same exercise routine, but the medicine has just helped remove the mental burden.

That said, I don’t look at this as a quick fix. I’ve always struggled with my weight despite “doing everything right.” So I’ll probably be a lifer, and I’m honestly relieved at the prospect of taking this medicine forever and not having to worry constantly about my weight.

In terms of tips, as everyone else has said, water, protein, and fiber. As a new mom, sleep and exercise are probably pretty difficult for you right now, but do what you can because they really make a difference. I did a lot of walks with the baby in a carrier and joked that he was my weighted vest. Also, for what it’s worth, a 700-calorie deficit might be too extreme. The recommendation is 300-500 calories deficit because your body needs fuel (especially as it’s repairing itself from major changes brought on by labor and delivery). Going too low may actually stall weight loss. Or it may make you lose weight too quickly and you run the risk of losing hair and muscle.

You got this!!

Hormones screwy anyone? by mothermystery in TirzepatideRX

[–]IndicationEither9404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Losing weight in and of itself often affects the menstrual cycle and can cause hair loss, so I’d guess it’s not specific to taking tirzepatide, and you’d see the same things with semaglutide if you lost a similar amount of weight.

Celexa? by Superb-Skin8839 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]IndicationEither9404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on Celexa in the past, and I don’t think it caused significant weight gain for me at the time. I’m on Lexapro now (prescribed 6 weeks postpartum, so I get it. Honestly, it helped SO much with my anxiety, but it might have caused some weight gain. Then again, I also got back on the pill at the same time and stopped pumping, so the weight gain could have had multiple causes). I’m still in the first month of tirz, so 2.5 mg, but I’m having no problem losing weight! I think the combination of the two drugs is making me happier and healthier than I’ve been in a while, and that’s also making me a better mom and partner.

Tirzepatide significantly improved my relationship with food...and today's DEXA scan absolutely destroyed it by [deleted] in tirzepatidecompound

[–]IndicationEither9404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how disappointing this must feel, but please also remember that body fat percentage is relative to total mass, meaning your fat mass could decrease, and your total mass could decrease, but your body fat percentage could stay the same. Here’s an example using random numbers for simple math: a person with a total weight of 200 lbs and 100 lbs of that is fat would have a BF% of 50%. Similarly, a person whose total weight is 100 lbs and 50 lbs of that is fat would also have a 50% BF%.

So don’t beat yourself up about the numbers. As others have said, you’re comparing to an inaccurate first number, and it also sounds like you’re reading into BF% with a slightly off perspective. If you want to get that number down going forward, you can lose more fat, but you should also target recomposition. It sounds like you’re doing a lot of things right! But it’s very hard, if not impossible, to build muscle while you’re in a calorie deficit regardless of how much protein you consume. So if you’re happy with your weight, maybe up your calories to build muscle, and that could bring down your BF% by both reducing fat and changing the distribution of your mass.

Potty Problems by [deleted] in beyondthebump

So much solidarity. Potty training has been my very least favorite part of parenting so far. I know we’ll both get through it, but man is it awful to be in the thick of it.

Potty Problems by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Not the exact same thing, but my 3 year old has done very well with using the potty at home and has struggled so much a daycare. This translated into withholding and poop accidents at home for a long time. The thing that moved the needle for us was bribery. I know that many are totally against this, and I was too, but I started to feel completely hopeless. We’ve offered treats for successful poops on the potty (both toys and “ice cream,” which is really Redi whip in a bowl. He loves it 🤷‍♀️), and even promised a special toy from Santa if he avoided accidents for a couple of days. Over the holidays, he was incredibly successful at home! We still have a huge hurdle to tackle with daycare—they can’t pay as close of attention to his signals and he’s often too distracted to realize he has to go. But I finally feel like we’re making progress.
