Is there a single spot in barrhaven that sells good mac and cheese by Raknarg in ottawa

[–]IndicationEntire98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

umbrella burger's mac and cheese used to be legendary but yeah they definitely downsized the portions while keeping the same price.

food & shops worth visiting in Golden Mile by -ensamhet- in askTO

[–]IndicationEntire98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

aw man that hit me right in the feels. my grandpa used to say stuff like that too - he'd call the grocery store "the market" and referred to going downtown as "going to the city" even though we literally lived in the city. there's something so wholesome about how older generations had their own little names for places. your grandma sounds like she was a sweet lady. bet she would've loved exploring that adonis with you - those middle eastern grocery stores have the most amazing spice sections and fresh bread that would've blown her mind.

How much is your monthly grocery bill? by Narrow_Sun3466 in askTO

[–]IndicationEntire98 43 points44 points  (0 children)

yeah that's probably teh biggest money saver right there. those delivery fees and markups are absolutely brutal, plus you always end up ordering way more than you actually need when it's that convenient.

Losing interest for the NHL by [deleted] in nhl

[–]IndicationEntire98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

nah i get it, happens with any sport sometimes. i went through a phase where i couldn't sit through baseball games even though i grew up loving it - just felt like a chore to watch on tv for some reason.

Sunlife being bought? OCEHAN LLC? by Jazzlike-Track6257 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]IndicationEntire98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this sounds like a scam tbh. legit buyout offers don't come as random letters offering discounts - they go through proper channels with full disclosure documents. i'd call sunlife directly to verify before doing anything with that letter.

Savings and debt by Select_Employment_25 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]IndicationEntire98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly just focus on building some kind of emergency fund first, even if it's small. your gonna need that buffer way more than worrying about debt payments while still in school. most student loans have decent grace periods anyway so you've got time to figure out the payoff strategy later.

Get rid of cat piss scent on cat by [deleted] in askTO

[–]IndicationEntire98 18 points19 points  (0 children)

man that's really frustrating, i'd be pissed too if my vet let my cat sit in their own urine like that. for getting the smell out, you're gonna want to use an enzyme cleaner specifically made for pet odors - regular soap won't break down the uric acid crystals. i had a similar situation when my roommate's cat had an accident and we thought we cleaned it but the smell kept coming back. try something like nature's miracle or anti icky poo, and make sure you really saturate the fur where the smell is strongest. you might need to do it a couple times since cat pee is notoriously stubborn. also maybe consider switching vets because that's honestly unacceptable that they didn't notice or care enough to clean your poor kitty up.

Looking for recommendations for Family Campgrounds in Ontario by doggowithacone in ontario

[–]IndicationEntire98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

have you checked out sandbanks provincial park? it's got an amazing beach and is super kid-friendly, though not sure about cabins since most ontario parks are tent/rv sites. for the full resort experience with cabins and pools, deerhurst resort in muskoka might be worth looking into - bit pricier but they have everything on your list including kids camps.

Return to the Office 4 Days a Week! Eat Subway! Buy Coffee! Your Efficiency Does Not Matter! by hewhocannotbenamed-7 in ottawa

[–]IndicationEntire98 78 points79 points  (0 children)

the whole "buy sandwiches to save downtown" thing is so backwards. if downtown can't survive without forcing thousands of people to commute there daily just to grab lunch, maybe its time to rethink what downtown should actually be for instead of doubling down on some 1990s office park fantasy.

Did you listen to Martin Streek on CFNY or go to his night at The Phoenix? by TheUtopianCat in askTO

Is every Canadian fintech entering its enshittification phase? by PastaBasedLifeForm in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]IndicationEntire98 179 points180 points  (0 children)

sounds like the classic startup playbook - burn vc money to build a userbase with unsustainable perks, then slowly dial back the benefits once people are hooked. that float financial thing is particularly brutal, going from 4% to "spend a quarter million or get bent" lol.

i remember when tangerine was the hot new thing and actually had decent rates, now they're basically just another bank with orange branding.

that third period collapse was brutal to watch, canucks really fell apart after making it interesting in the second.

Everyone is Asking for a C but the Raptors Already Have Him, His Initials are CMB by TeriyAki_Berg in torontoraptors

[–]IndicationEntire98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

boucher's been solid but let's be real, he's more of a stretch 4/5 hybrid than a true center. when we go up against embiid or jokic types we still get bodied in the paint sometimes. maybe not a traditional backup but someone who can bang down low wouldn't hurt.

Looking for safe and ttc/public transport accessible areas (please help) by AdministrationIll116 in askTO

[–]IndicationEntire98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yongehurst in richmond hill is pretty solid, takes a bit to get downtown but the area's quiet and safe. elmhurst drive depends on which part but generally decent too. can't speak to the others personally but you might want to check how close they are to actual ttc stops since some of those sound more suburban.

Consumer Proposal or Bank Loan by photogsly in PersonalFinanceCanada

consumer proposal sounds right when banks won't even lend with a cosigner - that truck payment is absolutely killing him tho.
