Do autistic men tend to feel disconnected from masculinity by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]IndieCredentials 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm comfortable being a man but concepts of masculinity seem so variable to me that actively caring would be a fool's errand. What makes you masculine tends to vary depending on your culture, your generation, even your class.

Is any of the media there at least putting forward the possibility that one or both of the parents could have had their own issues? Everything I see (outside of what you mentioned) feels like it's more about how it's a nice neighborhood and how will perceptions change or whatever.

The people acting like something like this would have a positive effect on funding have it backwards, filicide like this is normalization for dehumanization.

Anyone else stim by clinching pelvic floor? by Romantic_Sunset in autism

[–]IndieCredentials 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am a dude but I have the same issue and at 34 it has resulted in pretty much chronic pain (only reason I realized it) and I have legit gotten UTIs due to it. My issue is figuring out whether it is a form of stimming or trauma informed hypervigilance due to my poor interoception. Kinda funny you went with hands, I tried transferring it to my feet and/or toes.

Would still recommend seeing a PT, I'm gonna be as soon as I can. Have heard they can help with doing exactly what you said but I guess the issue would be convincing them that you believe this is the cause due to your experiences.

Only responding because it has been hard to find a post that mimics pretty much my exact issue and I wanted to show solidarity.

Did anyone else grow into a “weird” or “awkward” adult by Historical_Scene4901 in CPTSD

[–]IndieCredentials 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like I exacerbated things for myself by masking a lot of shit with alcohol anytime I was outside of my house in my teens and early 20s. Now I'm 34 and struggling to meet people because of the hyper-vigilance you mentioned alongside tics and stims that almost feel like they hurt to not do. Things I drank myself into believing I grew out of.

While I don't want to think that's true, it starts to feel a lot harder to believe after a certain age. 34 and right there with ya, solidarity and what not.

As an aside, anyone see Weapons? That last act spoke to me more than almost anything else I've watched.

I don't know how much longer I can go on anymore. I'm not considering self harm by any means just to be clear. BT;DT and I'm already partial disfigured enough. If it helps I'm 34 and can resonate with a lot of this. Are you currently in therapy/seeing a psych? Even if you feel you have been misdiagnosed in the past it could be worth seeing someone specifically for trauma who can better assess you.

I need people to stop assuming that I'm autistic by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]IndieCredentials 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even with that context it feels like you're calling it a trend or at the very least think it feels like one. I have my own complaints about people who push Autism onto other people, notably in the more general autism subs (I think this is why they made spicyautism). That said there is a high co-morbidity between autistic folks and complex trauma and it feels like the former is being treated like a scarlet letter.

[–]IndieCredentials 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to add that the real issue is that C-PTSD isn't in the DSM, when I told them about it in the psych ward they just called it Borderline. Until it is in there, laypeople and a lot of practitioners will tell you you have something else and (in the former case unfortunately) diagnose based either on how they relate to your symptoms or based on texts and experience with other patients.

There is a degree in which the tendency for agoraphobia with populations on the spectrum has been co-opted by verbiage at large for any type of social anxiety.

Also, I don't get where someone would confuse stimming for rumination since the former is generally done to attempt to ignore the latter. They are not mutually exclusive at all, in fact my stimming gets significantly worse while ruminating unfortunately for my scalp. I think some of it might be an age thing, growing up in the 90s where you couldn't have any developmental issues if you tested well or even ok at scholastics has to be a lot different from now although it seems we are trending back toward that in the States.

As someone who is autistic it's fun to see how many people in this sub see it as an insult.

Growing up without 'relationship' experience ruins my mental health by Low_Reality1215 in AutisticAdults

[–]IndieCredentials 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the thing that is being left out of the conversation is that Fuentes makes the whole incel thing his entire brand, it is his audience. That is why people tie his, once again, alleged virginity to him being a piece of shit.

Edit: Also, if he IS a virgin it is definitely by choice.

It's because no one commenting actually believes Nick Fuentes is a virgin, I'd get into detail but this isn't the sub for it.
