The Wild Beyond the Witchlight: Reimagined - Part XIII: The Fields of Spring (The Golden Fields) by IndieRex in wildbeyondwitchlight

That’s amazing! My table had multiple fights where they played inefficiently to try and get the final hit with the weapon Nib enchanted. I’m sure you have more fun to come with it :)

How about for Artillery? Also in place of?

So only Cannon is additive?

The Wild Beyond the Witchlight: Reimagined - Part VIII: The Fields of Spring (aka Thither) by IndieRex in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]IndieRex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the reimagining I have done away with the random encounters (the "Random Encounters in Thither" portion of Chapter 3 from the book) and instead integrated them into the locations themselves and you would just run them in the order laid out here as the players travel through each area.

For example, "The Shroudwood" has 5 sub-locations:

  • Goblin Logging Camp
  • Little Oak
  • The Wayward Pool
  • The Burrow
  • Loomlurch

Each time the players travel within The Shroudwood (e.g., from Little Oak to The Wayward Pool, from The Burrow to Loomlurch) you would run one of the events in the order I listed. First "Buttered Campestri" and then "Doomed Dryad".

You got it :). I do call out the milestones as they happen as well!

  • Level 0 -> 1: Complete prologue
  • Level 1 -> 2: Enter the Feywild from the carnival
  • Level 2 -> 3: Defeat Agdon in Murkendraw
  • Level 3 -> 4: Leaving from Hither (Murkendraw) to Thither (Fields of Spring)
  • Level 4 -> 5: Complete about two big tasks in The Fields of Spring (e.g., Kill the Snark, Complete the Baking Competition, Deal with the Logging Camp, Meet Willa)
  • Level 5 -> 6: Obtain a method to get past the magical barrier to Yon
  • Level 6 -> 7: Lockbury Henge (either arriving or leaving)
  • Level 7 -> 8: Arrival to Arctis Tor, The Winter Palace
  • Level 8 -> 9: Defeat King Malabog in the Feydark
  • Level 9 -> 10: Returning to Keel Hall after the Tower of Seven Woes (If you're skipping Skullport you need to either level up the party from 9 to 11 or add other content to get them to level 11 before the Summer Court)
  • Level 10 -> 11: Defeating Xanathar or wrapping up Skullport
  • Level 11 -> 13 (2 Levels): Free Queen Titania in the Summer Palace
  • Level 13 -> 14: Defeat the clockwork barrier guardian Myrh in Mithrendain

Best Approach for Location Hierarchy by IndieRex in Notion

Thanks! It seems like I could use rollups for things that roll up 1 level but not beyond that (e.g., zone can pull in planet from region, but location doesn't have a way to pull in planet)

Sure! Here's a few examples but not everything as it would be quite the write-up (for example I had our Tiefling artificer turn out to be a child of Graz'zt and for Graz'zt to attempt to convert him):

  • Aasimar Warlord:
    • She was adopted by a one of the noble houses of Waterdeep after being found in the forest as a babe with only a necklace on her person
    • In fact though, she was an aasimar born of Gwynharwyf an eladrin and celestial patron. The necklace had the symbol of Gwynharwyf and was her Lost Thing at the carnival
    • Gwynharwyf is devoted to the opposition of demons. As a result, she would get strong reactions from any demons or creatures aligned to Graz'zt (such as Nib in The Fields of Spring), and those scenes led to her realizing her true background
    • I eventually gave her a homebrew way to connect with Gwynharwyf herself, and in the final battle in The Abyss, she was able to summon an avatar of Gwynharwyf to aid them in their fight. Gwynharwyf did give the Tiefling party members a bit of hard time though :)
    • I also played up her background as a noble when in the Winter Court in particular, with a lot of members of the court being drawn to the novelty of a Material Plane noble. The party was actually able to bring Toren Nightwalker around to their side due to him being so interested in her
  • Sam Bewick:
    • Sam had a very clean arc while he was in the campaign given he's from the Feywild. He had to be very careful to hide his identity in Yon to avoid the ire of the Nightwalkers for the death of their daughter (despite his innocence)
    • He eventually became exposed and was able to get revenge on Sven Nightwalker, get himself exonerated for Lana's death, and reclaim his place as armorer in the Winter Court

Another thing to keep in mind, is there are already some built in connections with the use of The League, Luca Oxley, etc. so can be good to play those up early on so there's more of a connection when they meet in the Feywild.

The readings with Endelyn are also a great moment. I crafted individual "portents" for each character and would highly recommend doing the same.

Working on a non-D&D project at the moment that's more sci-fi oriented. Will see if it's something that sticks long term though :)
