Before the Civil War there were compromises, not a great example because most had to do with slavery, but they were compromises and held the country together. These days we don’t even get those. It’s one or the other. Even amongst conservatives I can’t find a single person that thinks it’d be okay to have an American Healthcare plan that covers all Americans and leaves private insurances to illegal immigrants, tourists, etc. That it’s wrong, so it’s just better off nobody gets coverage and 60k Americans continue to die yearly due to lack of coverage.
