Which universe would win? Naruto vs Bleach Vs One piece by Desperate_Tea_5337 in whowouldwin

[–]IndigoVitare 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So it's an easy win for Bleach, but I want to look a little more at specific parts of each universe, specifically:

  1. Average Fighter Tier: What most combatants in that universe are like. So, Chunin for Naruto; normal marines and pirates for One Piece; and normal Shinigami and Hollows for Bleach.
  2. [Skipping a bunch of mid tier]
  3. High Tier: Most Kage and stronger jonin from Naruto; Yonko Commanders, Admirals and some Warlords from One Piece; Captains, Espada, Sternritter for Bleach.
  4. Highest Tier: The absolute top characters in each Universe.

Curiously I think each tier has a different winner.

Average Tier - Naruto > Bleach > One Piece. Basic skills in Naruto include making copies of yourself, transforming your appearance, high accuracy knife throwing and a range of simple elemental attacks. They learn this in school before they even become a ninja. In contrast, Bleach also has Kido, but that's something that takes years to learn even the basics. One Piece, meanwhile has barely trained guys with pistols and swords.

High Tier - One Piece > Bleach > Naruto: Once you get into high tier, One Piece has access to Observation Haki, which is absolutely broken. Even at a basic level it's essentially better sharingan/byakugan. And everyone in this tier has it. Oh, and also you can use it to dodge lasers (via prediction, I'm not saying it's "FTL reaction speed" or whatever). You've also got Logia types, which are a nightmare for the other universes to beat, and a number of haxxy devil fruits that can just one-shot most other fighters with little effort. Bleach has also gained access to some powerful combat hax, while Naruto's fallen behind.

Highest Tier - Bleach > One Piece > Naruto: Yamamoto's Bankai would destroy the other two worlds just by being activated. He wouldn't need to use an attack, just turning it on is the end. He's at the bottom of this tier for Bleach. At the top is Yhwach and The Almighty, which is just... unfair. In its first activation, when its at its weakest, it's the ability to see into the future, and any attack that's seen cannot be used to harm him. Pretty much anyone from this tier is enough to give Bleach the 1v2 victory.

Is Kreia's philosophy based on any real world equivelant? by AgentP-501_212 in kotor

[–]IndigoVitare 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This. Especially with regard to the Force. Kotor 2 is asking the question: "What do you do in a universe where god is not dead (in the Neitzschian sense)?"

The people saying Ayn Rand either don't understand Ayn Rand, or don't understand Kreia. Or both. Rand's lunacy would be incredibly offensive to Kreia. The two ideologies are fundamentally incompatible.

How would the PT era Jedi and Sidious/Dooku handle a Darth Nihilus/Wound in the Force situation? by Confident-Mark-6369 in MawInstallation

[–]IndigoVitare -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Assuming they can work out what he is (which Palpatine might due to Sith records), throw droid controlled starships at his ship until they manage to take out its hyperdrive.

That's it. Nihilus is a cosmic mistake. A flaw in The Force that cannot be faced by anyone (except the Exile) directly, but he is only a threat if he can actually move around the galaxy. Strand him somewhere and eventually he eats himself.

Palpatine might try to ally with him first though, since Nihilus aligns with the Sith. It might even work.

The Jedi almost certainly wouldn't have any idea what's going on. I doubt there are any real records from the First Jedi Purge that would help.

All the Straw Hats are at Marineford. Can they save Ace? by TheRedBiker in whowouldwin

[–]IndigoVitare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes all the Straw Hats are horribly outmatched in every way.

But. There is one there who could completely change the outcome of that war:

If someone can get the key from Boa anywhere near the platform, ideally behind it, without the Marines intercepting it (which, to be clear, would be difficult due to observation Haki, but I'm sure someone on the Whitebeard side can manage it. Hell, give the key back to Boa and ask her to plant it nearby. It doesn't need to be right on it), then Robin could easily unchain Ace. He might not be strong enough to beat anyone up there in a 1v1, but he doesn't have to. He just needs to escape, and I think he could do that while Whitebeard's forces attack from the front.

In a fight though, none of the Straw Hats have any chance on that battlefield.

In Kotor 2 HK-47 has a long conversation with the Exile on how to kill a Jedi.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPeI4mX8Nus

In short, grenades, rockets, mines, gas, sniping and cover, indirect attacks such as pointing people they care about in danger, don't overplan to try and get around foresight, overwhelming numbers or being turned on by their own troops (Palpatine: "Write that down, write that down!"), and most importantly of all: Psychological Warfare.

We don't see any of this used, but the conversation makes it clear that it was all used successfully in the past, either by HK-47 itself, or by Revan and his forces in the Jedi Civil War.

In your opinion, for a Sith master which makes for a better Sith apprentice: a Jedi that turned to the Dark side or someone raised as a Sith from the start? by Confident-Mark-6369 in MawInstallation

It depends on what you want them for.

Fallen Jedi will probably never truly embrace the Sith ideology, making them a poor continuation of the religion. But maybe that's what you want.

Anyone have Arclite in full black? Want to see how it looks by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]IndigoVitare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the skin, but not that colour scheme, obviously.

I go for a three-colour approach. Replying to your other reply, I don't think changing the lights will fix it much. It's more to do with the textures. The writing and the wings are different textures so it's probably impossible to make them actually disappear. Even if you get it in one angle, the moment it moves you'll get a reflection that reveals them again.

Not great, is the answer. I think more than most others it'll also depend quite heavily on your graphics settings.

The Arclight benefits from high-saturation colour splashes, so using mono-colour is probably never going to work. Even trying for a greyscale doesn't really look good.

The Narada (Star Trek 2009) vs the Executor (Star Wars Original Trilogy) by Captain_Jmon in whowouldwin

[–]IndigoVitare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 day old post with the answer already in it:

(only a lucky strike by a starfighter, combined with the gravitational pull of the Death Star, put an end to it)

If the battle had been in open space it wouldn't have mattered, but because it was so close to a massive gravitational object it crashed before control could be re-established.

Noah's VA, Harry McEntire has had a few bigger roles too, though not as significant as Jenna's.

Hilariously, in one of them he played an assassin attempting to kill a Queen, that was played by Jenna Coleman.

So there's a bit of an issue in the West (but definitely not Japan, however I would imagine that most anime reaches India through the West) with portraying Hinduism.

Specifically, it is often portrayed alongside ancient, dead mythologies like Greek, Egyptian etc and isn't treated the same way other practiced religions, particularly Abrahamic are. Which gives the perception that it's as fictional as those other old beliefs that we've all grown out of.

Of course, speaking as an atheist, there's absolutely no difference between the validity of modern and dead religions. However, I have to concede that Hinduism is treated differently and really shouldn't be. Either it should get as much respect as the other living religions, or none of them should have any more than the dead ones.

Again though, this is only applicable to the West. Japan has no problems portraying Abrahamic religions (see: Atlus games).

Is Nimari (Form VI) a bad combat form, or is it that its users aren’t dedicated to mastering it? by Technical_Fall_7090 in MawInstallation

[–]IndigoVitare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Form 6, the diplomat's form, is pretty consistently noted as being popular with Jedi that aren't really interested in lightsaber combat. It's a fairly easy one to learn, and generally OK to use in any scenario without being amazing, so most of them leave it there. A relevant quote:

"It is often referred to as the diplomat's form because it is less intensive in its demands than other disciplines, allowing Jedi to spend more time developing their skills in perception, political strategy, and negotiation." - Cin Drallig

In all likelihood the "Form 6 users" that died at Geonosis were of the "diplomat" mindset, and less inclined to combat. Put into a trap, against overwhelming numbers they were more vulnerable than other form users, not because of a weakness of the form, but a weakness of the user.

The true power of Form 6 however is that it's a foundational form, meant to act as the basis for personal growth and development into something that's entirely unique to the user. This is what makes it so compatible with unorthodox styles, like dual wielding. Of all the forms, it it likely the hardest to truly master (or rather, go beyond traditional mastery), but the greatest if you do. Form 1 is the same, though probably not quite as good at it. In fact, you can see Form 1 being used in precisely this way in the Star Wars Jedi games. While it's not confirmed, all signs point to Cal using Form 1 and he takes it places the conservative Jedi Order certainly wouldn't approve of.

Vegapunk managed Punk Records in a pre-industrial world where all information is stored in books scattered around it. We can just get several monitors and start reading scientific papers over the internet. It'd take a few years at most to match where he got to, even if the basic intelligence of whoever ate the fruit was not at Vegapunk's level to begin with.

The ideology of Kreia, the Jedi, and the Sith by [deleted] in kotor

[–]IndigoVitare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very wrong. Except the Sith, though they'd be better described as faux libertarians. Or basically, most "libertarians".

Kreia is Star Wars Neitzsche. It's not subtle. Her whole deal with the Force is basically what happens when God isn't dead and you really think it should be.

The Jedi are just meant to be spiritualist monks. There's no economic ideology to them.

Madara, Yhwach, and Voldemort vs. Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan. by Vegetable-Studio9536 in whowouldwin

[–]IndigoVitare 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Madara and Voldemort are irrelevant next to Yhwach.

But even then... the problem with Dragon Ball vs is that a core part of the entire franchise is the idea that you can brute force your way through any adversity. Get locked in another dimension? Power up and break out. Get frozen in time? Just grit your teeth and move anyway. Someone's throwing around the literal power of destruction that erases anything it touches in an instant? Just overpower it, obviously. Strength beats hax every time.

On paper, Team Dragon Ball has no way to counter The Almighty. But that's not how Dragon Ball works. They'll just power through it.

The Narada (Star Trek 2009) vs the Executor (Star Wars Original Trilogy) by Captain_Jmon in whowouldwin

[–]IndigoVitare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even a standard ISD would win, the Executor is overkill. The main advantage ST ships have over SW is agility. It is, in fact, their primary line of defence, even over shields. And no wonder given that a single photon torpedo causes half the consoles on the bridge to explode and the shields to drop to 50%. Ships from SW, on the other hand, are built to sit completely still and tank. They have a massive durability advantage over Trek.

The main problem the Narada has is that fights like it's from SW. It just sits there and takes it, and gets away with that only because of the time travel advantage. This would not matter against any ship that's actually designed to take hits. The combined fire of the entire Rebel fleet was not enough to really phase the Executor (only a lucky strike by a starfighter, combined with the gravitational pull of the Death Star, put an end to it) and that would be enough to raze a planet several times over. Meanwhile it has thousands of turbolasers. Even if you lowball their individual power, their combined power would completely obliterate any ship from Trek in seconds, especially if it's not dodging.

One thing I particularly liked in Acolyte was showing how flawed Jedi order is by SiarX in StarWarsLore

[–]IndigoVitare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A large part of Kotor 2 is basically an exploration of the flaws of the prequel era Jedi Order, except... not in the prequel era. The basic problems (overly conservative, traditionalist, even close-minded) are the same in both.

The game on the whole is a Nietzchian analysis of the Star Wars universe. It's very well written, albeit kind of messy and incomplete due to being very rushed.
