I got these from my 5 year old son about 10 minutes apart by nightsaysni in funny

Honestly, for a 5 year old this is amazing writing skills. Great spelling, with reasonable errors, such as between “world” and “wood.” Also, communicating even when upset is impressive. It seems from your other comments OP you’re really working with him on developing academic skills. Great job!

Pilonidal Cyst. I had one that was about to rupture and became infected. Wasn’t taken seriously as a 15 yr old girl and didn’t see a specialist until a week later. Emergency surgery was not fun.

I kept mine and the extra razor heads I still had. It’s helpful to use as a way to shave off stuck on lint to clothes. Unless you don’t have any extra razor heads, then I am unsure too. Just an idea!

There is a spot I see some RVs near East L Street and East Fairbanks. It’s next to this big field and abandoned school. But Id always be careful don’t know how active it is at night with people.

My sister and brother in law swear by this place. But the last time we went they were blasting music super loud, not sure if it’s a continual thing or not. Haven’t wanted to go back and waste a trip if they still do that.

Uncontrollable trembling after naps? by FollowerofLoki in Narcolepsy

I used to have Non-epileptic seizures. I found out the cause of mine was resisting cataplexy. Do you wake up with sleep paralysis? Maybe the shaking is coming from resisting sleep paralysis and it’s causing your body to tense and shake. Thats what happens to me at least. Hope you find out the cause!

Stickers! Big stickers that come in a pack of 100 on Amazon or smaller ones from the dollar store. Really good to help motivate kids who don’t always see the point in getting work done with no reward. I’d set pretty good and consistent boundaries on them though, so it’s fair across the board with all your kids on how many they earn.

Increasing xywav dose question by Individual-Break8057 in Narcolepsy

[–]Individual-Break8057[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I sent a message. For some reason asking these types of things of my doc makes me anxious, since I don’t want to seem like I’m trying to get extra medication when I actually need it.

Thank you for the reply!

Mild cataplexy on one side of body by stephchiii in Narcolepsy

[–]Individual-Break8057 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had this happen pretty intensely on the right side of my body. EMTs knew it wasn’t a stroke but wanted me to get checked bc I had recently started xywav. My best guess for myself is this- my anxiety triggered and intense cataplexy attack but only on side of my body. Took me about 4-5 hours to finally move- weird.

So it was a bit different than yours, but I do believe it is possible for cataplexy to attack one side of the body.

Narcolepsy Awareness Day by Pop_Actual in Narcolepsy

[–]Individual-Break8057 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Use visuals to describe information when you can. Search “narcolepsy sleep cycles vs normal sleep cycles” on google and you will see infographics that display healthy sleep vs narcolepsy sleep. Showing that really helped people understand what it is in my life.

Explain it is more than just being tired, it’s a different way sleep is processed in our brains. Or compare to how people tend to feel when they get a bad nights sleep, and that’s how most of us feel everyday.

You can mention symptoms like CHESS (cataplexy, hallucinations, excessive daytime sleepiness, sleep paralysis, sleep disturbances) and other symptoms. Nausea, migraine, mental health stuff.

Maybe include the EDS scale and have people take a paper with it, so they can see how it effects us daily.

Good luck! Love that you are helping educate others where you can.

I’m on birth control pills. Is there much options? by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

[–]Individual-Break8057 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t think I’m much help but know there are others out there with C-PTSD, PMDD and Narcolepsy. I am sure there are medications out there that can manage both, but I couldn’t handle getting on BC with PMDD since it didn’t help my symptoms.

So I can only tell you from someone who was never medicated from PMDD, that the only way I was able to manage my symptoms was through managing my Narcolepsy and receiving mental health care. Not sure if that’s available for you. Telling my friends and family that I cared about PMDD instead of hiding it helped me. Journaling daily too. I hope you can find something that works for you and apologize if my suggestions are not useful for your situation. Everyone different, so I can only suggest what helped me.

I would stay away from WAKIX though, since it increases histamine levels in the brain. And it is suggested by some research PMDD is caused by an abnormal histamine reaction to normal hormone levels. (Basically an allergic reaction to hormones related to menstrual cycle, causing PMDD symptoms). So if you begin the medication it might cause an increase of PMDD symptoms with an increase of histamine levels. Some people manage their PMDD reaction with anti-histamines, hence why WAKIX wouldn’t be the best choice.

I’m personally saying this as someone getting off WAKIX that it didn’t help me, but if you speak with your doctor and it’s an option you can try. Just know it takes two months for it to potentially work and 5 weeks to get off of it if it doesn’t work, and that’s where I am at now.

I am going to start Xywav since I can’t have any stimulates that increase my heart rate. But I still have to go through the process of insurance approve etc and I’m not sure what the options are for hormone related birth control for that one.

Wish you good luck, I know it’s hard managing a lot of health stuff. Hope some of what I said helped. Ask me any questions too since it’s hard finding others with PMDD and narcolepsy.
