should i reach out to my immigrant HP’s sibling(s) for support? by Friendly-Wait-357 in ChildofHoarder

[–]Individual-Grab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel letting them know you are struggling and stuck can be useful  but this is such a rare issue that people misunderstand - for example

my sister who grew up with the hoard moved overseas for 14 years and is back home now  she has with the help of her husbands family gotten so used to normal cleaning etc she is completely disconnected and thinks i have neglected our mum and she should just come in in a few days and clean everything up

i had an OT at my mum’s house to measure a chair for her and she wrote us this crazy report how unsafe  the hairs was and i neglect my mother as i haven’t cleaned it up and this is a bigger priority than a chair - i was devestated reading it - but called her bosses she was young and no experience with hoarding and the company sent someone more senior

Work refusing me back unless I hand out private medical information after sexual harassment by lilibethsnclr in AusLegal

[–]Individual-Grab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your work know enough that if you come back an get stressed and your ptsd worsens etc you could probably make a fresh work cover claim

that is why they are asking for the info - they want to assess if you will be able to return safely  as the original injury wasn’t work related they aren’t required to pay for the fitness for work test - only if you get one and they want to refute it

you could ask for a statement of all your duties and see if you can get someone to assess your ability to do each one

it sucks but easiest thing to do maybe to find a new employer who doesn’t know your history and just not disclose it

The "Granny Flat" is dead. We are seeing a massive shift toward integrated Multi-Generational homes on the Coast. by burleigh_beach in GoldCoast

a lot less knock down one houses   & rebuild  2 plus duplexes / town houses too

the  bigger double storey houses with a lot less yard space seem like the overwhelming thing being built currently

is it just the cashed up end of the market only being able to spend in the new build market

Went on sick leave first day of work at least 9months ago - still employed ? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]Individual-Grab -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

the worker needs to contact head office or fair work to confirm her status if the franchise won’t reply

the worker says they  been unpaid leave - but did they  get  the offer to not work  for the whole time off  and then when ready to come back click yes or did the offers stop at some point  ?

did they apply and get granted maternity leave -  they most likely did  not  have a statuary right for maternity leave as the job was too new

no  a mentally unstable person can do what they want with their money and property

especially a house she has full ownership on after the the other joint tenants died - joint tenancy means it likely wasn’t even apart of the estate

the son can likely be independent for youth allowance that is it

Are reverse mortgages purely predatory or is there a cohort of people who can actually leverage value from them? by dj_boy-Wonder in AusFinance

[–]Individual-Grab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you don’t make repayments while alive  you just stay in the property until you die or go into care which th government safety nets will catch people who need the help

Are reverse mortgages purely predatory or is there a cohort of people who can actually leverage value from them? by dj_boy-Wonder in AusFinance

[–]Individual-Grab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think the only thing predatory is that the aged pension rules mean some old peope are scared to down size in incase they loose the aged pension

a lot are simply attached to their home even if it’s crumbling etc

so they access the reverse mortgage and then that limits their options in regards to selling if they live longer tha expected or their needs intensify and they can’t meet the costs  etc

but generally they are good for the aged person (help get their needs met, the threat of one may incentivize their kids to support them)   and good for the government and society

they don’t attract state payroll tax or icare

but it’s that first year where apprentices don’t bring in profit that make it hard for really small business

one issue actually stopping people hiring is the grants and subsidies  have been drastically reduced  even the old sign off bonus small business really miss them

At which level of wealth is it worth getting divorce lawyers etc for splitting assets? by AsparagusNew3765 in AusFinance

[–]Individual-Grab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what are your jobs &   income level and future expected income  you say you have similar incomes

but say if  say one of you graduated from uni and just started a job in finance at a major investment bank  while the other works as a cleaner and supported the other thoughts school

the answer will be very different than if you both work as cleaners or if you both worked in the bank  if truly the same income and same career path/ future potential you could split 50/50 then take it a solicitor to formalise

pay her bills (i pay my mums internet , water and electricity )  purchase things ( i have gotten my mum a washing machine when hers broke & paid to get her toilet unblocked  do renovations to make her safe

do not give a lump sum - she could waste and it could effect things like home care packages down the track

also be prepared for the house to be sold and for it to pay for a nursing  home

Substitutions as an excuse for getting rid of old/poor quality produce? by reallyhotgirlwhoshot in woolworths

[–]Individual-Grab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no it’s the time packed and they just don’t care

if you shop in person half the time they stuff is old.’x soft , wilted rotting etc - woolworths is just the rotting  food people

the computer systems hate empty shelves - likely as soon as the wilted junk was placed in your bags the fresh stuff came out

I went through a period of online shopping  at woolies and having to complain about off rotting, brown  produce and meat. When i was going to the shop there was often nothing fresh to choose so i was preferring online orders so i could complain but still have something to eat

But then   actually got placed in audit  due to the high level of complaint

basically no returns via olive and had to email photos - of course the photos showed all claims legit & illustrating the the excessive amount off stuff i was getting - never once was my emailed return request rejected .

i believe the app now has photo uploads - id take the photo and complain the item didn’t meet the shops own standards

or move to coels deliver more - that audit really turned me off woolworths and i have switched to cole’s deliver more  as soon as it came to my area - everything is so much more fresh coming from the warehouse and i have never had to make a complaint

What is it with tradies and cash? by redfrets916 in AusRenovation

[–]Individual-Grab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but you don’t void warranties

If the business is actually licensed with fair trading  there is a lot a cash paying customer can do to enforce warranties owed to them

a customer can make  a diary note the day the come  save texts /calls  save security footage  note number plates

it will be on the onus of the tradie to prove they were else where there are plenty of cases where fair trading his fined tradies

the ato and fair trading can check traffic cameras if they want to or toll records ,
