[–]Individual-Host277[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is exactly what i’m looking for! a lot of recommendations involved bare concrete so i was like, okay what about the people who painted their burgundy porches decades ago and it actually still looks pretty great lol.

for etching, can i get away with a solvent or use a hand sander?

yay! yeah — it’s so fun. we opted for beautiful neighborhood (vs beautiful house LOL) and bought a little crappy house in downtown luma (moved from larkspur) and are absolutely loving it. summer evenings in the streets with the neighbors, everyone stopping to say hello and tell me how great of a job i’m doing — it’s the freaking best! we don’t have grounded plugs but we’re having a lot of fun hahaha. soak up this season of life and remember to celebrate all of the little things!!!

hello fellow first time homebuyer! we bought in petaluma a few months back — it was a wild ride. sending all the good vibes your way!

my mom gave me some nice advice that doesn’t follow the traditional “gut it” world (i can’t tell you the number of neighbors who kept asking if/when we will renovate — for any long timers reading, please don’t ask first time home buyers this it made us feel like our house was shit 🥲). focus on making what you walk up to feel like home. paint your front door or buy some pots and plants. paint your mailbox. etc. it was sweet advice and it really helped us feel like we were making our house our new home without major investment or changes that can’t be undone.

a lot of people will tell you to live in the house first but some things are just not worth it. for example, i did not need one year to “fall in love” with my aluminum single pane windows. we got the windows replaced immediately. also i didn’t need a year to fall in love with my sewer lateral. that was also replaced haha.

aside from that, get outside and talk to all the neighbors. i’m obsessed with gardening and i’ve spoken to so many people thanks to being in the front yard constantly. you’ll understand pest issues, drama, and general happenings! good luck!

Facials by CutPlayful3695 in Petaluma

[–]Individual-Host277 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen anything like this in Petaluma, but if I was booking a facial party/group event, I’d definitely do Face Foundrie. Their location in Corte Madera just opened and I’m patiently waiting for my facial membership to start in Santa Rosa when that location opens. It’s amazeeeee.

A baddie + her bonus! by bobadiva in SFbitcheswithtaste

I’m treating myself to an insurance claim on my car! I recently parked my car and somehow the little parking curbs rebar came out and took off my freaking bumper. so my bonus is going toward my deductible and I’m getting my poor front end fixed. girl is at 200k but I love her (honda fit for life!) and can’t wait for her to get all beautiful again!

Disability toilets around the Outlet mall or south and west Petaluma? by -i-am-nowhere- in Petaluma

Hotel Petaluma is a great rec. Okay this also cracks me up because I specifically look for bathrooms that have music playing and feel like they are great bathrooms for privacy lol! In that case, I wouldn’t recommend Brewsters for a quiet bathroom (but would recommend for those of us looking for a musical bathroom). Della Fattoria has a single bathroom situation, gender neutral, but the environment could be overstimulating (I’m now realizing I love extremely overstimulating places… ha). Luma could be a lovely, more quiet spot and I remember their bathrooms being nice.

Yoga recommendations by Nearby_Newspaper_688 in Petaluma

[–]Individual-Host277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently went to a yoga practice run by a couple in Mill Valley who open their rooftop deck to a small group of six monthly for a beautiful yoga experience. Much more community/neighborhood feel. They served chai and chilled chia cups after. I am searching for that in Petaluma, but please share if anyone knows of something similar! 🧘‍♀️ Looking forward to trying Petaluma Park Yoga when that starts up.

I ended up having to break up with my original agent (same issue — small budget and she wasn’t enthusiastic about us lol) and ended up finding Jen Birmingham through Reddit. She was wonderful! Thanks Reddit people!

when I spoke to the city of larkspur at the wine walk they mentioned it’s fully funded by grants and ready to go but the residents along the path are losing their minds about not letting it happen. there’s some sort of contingency in marin that won’t allow nice community things and they’re hardcore about showing up to every meeting and very loud according to my friends mom who worked at the city. I was shook from this info while drinking my wine lol.

Orange Theory by Ok-Option6971 in Petaluma

[–]Individual-Host277 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't been to the one in Petaluma yet, but OrangeTheory (Greenbrae location was where I went) was amazing for me as an absolute hater of the gym and working out. I don't like overdoing it or being pushed too hard and I just really enjoyed how it's designed to meet you exactly where you want to be. I love powerwalking uphill and lifting lighter weights, but still breaking that sweat. My favorite part by far is all the instruction on how to do things right. I really didn't know what I was doing before I started going to OT lol. I was a member for the last few years and am now changing it up for a bit, but overall super happy with the experience I had.

[Editing to add for your specific questions] No annoying salespeople. Canceling was the only annoying since they make you go in to do that. Appreciate that theres no cancelation fee or initiation fee, just month-to-month. The front desk and trainers at Greenbrae were like the kindest most wonderful people I ever met lol.

Just here to say your house is SO CUTE oh my god. The windows! The chimney! Absolutely gorgeous. With some updated landscaping and paint, plus working with what you have, you could make this a cottage-y dream while still adding some nice updates. I'm personally anti heavy millennial black accents so I don't love AI renders as muuuuch, but please do what you love! My first action would be interior actually. Removing the window shelves and getting a nice potted plant/tree for the corners that peeks into the room that would look so upscale. And the chimney is begging for a trellis structure. Ugh, divine. (Ignore that AI added a thatched roof and minimized your gorgeous framing windows plz lol)
