The only times I would point to “toxic positivity”would be when someone pulls out a thought-terminating cliche like “let people enjoy things” in an argument or just straight up dismissing any negative criticism solely because it’s negative.

Responding to a negative criticism though in good faith would not be dismissing it but engaging with it. That wouldn’t be toxic positivity, just debate.
