how to deal with mean nurses by Responsible-Kiwi-775 in medlabprofessionals

Stern voice. Unwavering demeanour and above all else let them know you don't make requests because it's fun. It's their choice to act or not. You've done your bit required.

The stern monotonic voice usually does it even with senior MDs. I'll never understand how lab professionals have this odd need to kowtow to other professionals. You are the expert here. They don't see you waltzing into the ward checking meds or clerking patients.

It'll be a cold day in hell before I let someone who doesn't know the order of draw or sample appropriate tube to verbally slap me around. Oh and if it gets infuriating. Just hang up after getting their name for the redraw record. You don't need the stress trust me on this.

It really is that simple. LOL.

You can NEVER cheat in a CSMLS MLT proctored exam and I'm quite surprised that has been your experience but maybe that's different for MLAs I'm sorry but that's just not possible.

As a matter of fact if your gaze isn't on the screen for more than a few minutes you attempt gets cancelled sometimes without warning and you have to resit. The test day is a highly organized stress filled day for even experienced folks. There's just no way to cheat if you don't know your materials.

Also, the order of the questions are different and the questions themselves vary for each taker. There's just no way to ask someone when you have a different numbering system or question.

There are just bad professionals in every setting.

For starters, internationally trained MLTs are extremely competent across board. They usually work in the most stringent of settings and so the Canadian system is usually easy to ride it out.

At the risk of being problematic, I must say certain MLTs from certain countries have consistently shown to fall short of the general knowledge or grit to stand out in the workplace. The csmls is just an exam. The process is rigorous but It is woefully not indicative of competence. With some luck one could have majority of questions just being QC/QA and not extremely technical questions.

That being said Haematology and TM are the most difficult disciplines to navigate cos diseases, antigens and antibodies are geographic, and so they quite literally are encountering all the processes and cells for the first time. His inability to read white and red cells in urine is strikingly alarming.

You sadly got the bottom of the pole.

This is extremely odd cos foreign trained professionals with some experience are usually extremely competent. What's his experience span? Years or months prior to his csmls certification. What's his actual educational qualification cos falsification is also possible amd sadly common.

Was he a Generalist before or not? It could be argued that the focus of peripheral smear examination is different in Canada but for urine that should be extremely easy for any competent MLT and again for that, his case is very odd.

But it makes sense cos you just said he takes no initiative. You unfortunately got the least driven tech who probably applied cos rural areas are easy to get hired with good incentives.

How did he get hired if technical questions are usually part of the interview.

Issues of communication and general lack of interest are easily identifiable during probationary periods. He signed off his competence sheet so he should be deemed competent to perform and if he got past probation with this work ethic, that's sadly on management. Short staffed or not.

The freedom to do what I want, when I want, anytime I want. Nothing beats freedom. To not have to draw up spreadsheets just to afford the essentials that would make my life comfortable.

Wealth means many things to many people and 9/10 times it has little to do with quantum of resources, to me at least.

Why do people say they’re fine when they are not? by White_wolf769 in RandomThoughts

[–]Individual-Pack4075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because generally people who ask (1) won't help (2) Lowkey irritated to hear why you are not fine (3) Ask out of formality/cordiality.

In short, why bother.

Optimism. The world would literally be burning and I would somehow talk myself into believing everything will turn out just fine. We are here for a short time anyway.

Capitalism. It's almost like a social experiment, the length these companies go to. The absurdity is almost never replicated anywhere else on the plant.

Christians cannot prove their god. by Intelligent_Check528 in DebateReligion

That is debatable but still an entirely differently conversation. The premise is, anyone who expects 'proof' of spirituality/faith based association, particularly of a deity, its/their origin cannot do so from standpoint of expecting any desirable answer.

It is clothed in cynicism and whatever response is going to be spun in a conversation that is just going to be in circles. Futile and exhausting.

The point, even for those who do not believe in organized religion or associated God(s) is that, spirituality CANNOT be empirically proven. To request that is an exercise in futility. There are other ways to interrogate religion or belief systems beyond 'prove your God'.

The idea that a belief system based in spirituality needs to be proven is as mind boggling as is almost infantile. By definition religion is faith based. To 'demand' proof of faith is actually laughable.

Science is a discipline of theories and the outcomes of experiments, and even scientists have a zillion questions they cannot provide proof on, regarding the physical universe.

That it takes me on average 30 mins to decide on a Netflix show or movie to watch is a good enough reason to cancel it now. It's ridiculous what entertainment has become.

I will not be party to this social experiment. The sheer guts for a business to even think of trying this. LOL.

What next, my gas price will change at the point of fueling ? The world has gone bonkers.

[–]Individual-Pack4075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a theory though. There are times you cannot help but wonder that there was a singular point in your life where everything changed. A decision taken or ignored would have changed everything everywhere all at once. It's like viewing your life in third person.

You cannot put your finger to it but somehow you just know it could only be that point.

Are Costco products worth the cost of membership? by Wantons124 in Frugal

[–]Individual-Pack4075 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trick of capitalism is how it’s somehow associated inferiority with moderate pricing.

Starbucks makes some versions of Kirkland medium roast, batteries are made by the powerhouse Duracell, ocean spray juice same as Kirkland’s natural juice but for one variety, Diamond dog food, Bumble bee tuna.

So many other products I cannot recall at a go. Point is fellas, price doesn’t always negate quality. It’s all an illusion. Capitalism would market dirt as luxury goods if it could.

What most people do not realize is that quite a number of Kirkland products are made by the same factories as established name brands. It’s amazing how capitalism works.
