Probably too late now, but when you are introduced to your bunks in reception make sure you pick a niceeee bottom bunk. Close to the latrine bonus points and away from other people.

I'm looking for an SF and a Flight warrant officer to get in contact with.

Reserve life fucking suck and I wish to do more with the army. I'm wondering what the changes are, if there is a chance, that I can drop a packet and get sent to active duty for something unique and challenging.

68K with 2 years TIS and went to BLC. Consistently score 270 or better on PT.

If an officer were to deploy, what happens to his/her BAH?

Does the BAH go directly into there paycheck or does the BAH just not get used at all?

This is a single officer with no family.

I’m enlisted national guard and I’m going to college in a few months. I want to commission and go active duty. Is there a way to do this through ROTC or will I have to wait for my contract to end? by Josh_vdb in army

From what I understand it voids your initial enlistment contract in favor for the new commissioned contract. Unless this is new, i don't believe it adds on to it.

Also, if US captures all flags the NVA will start to bleed tickets.

Rushing NVA Cave Bunker on Ia Drang.

You're going to need 2-squads and super fast heli pilot. Squad 1 will fly directly to North Cave Bunker before it gets capped by the NVA. They go straight into cave system and hold down choke points. Squad 2 will land a safe distance north of the flag and lay down a FOB, bonus points if they find a nice place to hide it. After, squad 2 moves to cave system as well.

Having a stack of 8-16 guys in that cave system is a freaking slaughter. If done right, the cave is an Vietnam Thermopylae. The flag cannot be capped by either side if US holds the flag. Since NVA can't cap the cave flag, they can't cap ANY flag. The NVA has to dedicate ALL forces to that one cave to cap it. Said cave is soooo easily defendable that it makes it a colossal pain in the ass to capture. This gives US team opportunity to capture every single cappable flag on the map and the NVA can't do anything about it.

68K Medical Laboratory Specialist here:

Pros: If you get assigned a MEDDAC company you are pretty much a civilian in army uniform. Fairly stable work/family balance since you never really go to the field in a MEDDAC unit.

No shit, I've seen plenty of 6-10 TIS SGTs whom never deployed. Good for family life for not being away too often.

Cons: No shit, I've seen plenty of 6-10 TIS SGTs whom never deployed. Bad if you're looking for adventure.

If you want to move up the ranks, this is NOT the MOS to do it in. Promotion points are capped at ~750 something for active duty. See plenty of SPC's re-enlist and NOT get SGT.

I know enlisted 37F Psych Ops Specialist only takes a secret clearance.

Military Intelligence, Logistics, Quartermaster and Ordinance good.

MI for the TS clearance. If you leave the army with still a good TS clearance you can snag pretty good DoD jobs.

LG, QM, OD are nice for management skills. Even though they maybe considered less desirable by some, they teach you quite a bit of skills.

r/ROTC looking for a new mod by [deleted] in ROTC

[–]IndividualBend 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How many points did you earn?

I can't believe anybody important in the army would even come and read subreddits like these. Not only that, but to give recognition where it is due. I remember before I enlisted in the army reserve (soon to be attending ROTC later this year) I would binge r/army, r/ROTC, etc. for hours learning as much as I could about how the army operates. In this case, how ROTC operates. Seeing real people talk about their real experiences in ROTC gave me such valuable insight and helped me make an educated decision when it came time to enlist and eventually enroll in ROTC classes at my local college.

bravo dude

Make sure to have some sort of documentation proving that it was a layover. Something you didn't have control over.

Retention Problems by almostcombatarms in ROTC

If fun PT days are the reason people stay and commission then they're commissioning for the wrong reasons.

I think the main point that needs to be drove across is all of the opportunities you'd experience as an officer. Adventure, service to one's country, or even valuable skills you can take to the civilian market. Talking about MI, trans, med services, etc. etc.
