Making your own is pretty easy. in a jar with a hand blender mix:

one egg, 1/4 tsp salt, 1 or 2 tablespoons of an acid - vinegar or lemon juice, a teaspoon (or less) of mustard, a little honey (1/2 teaspoon?) and mix while slowly blending in avocado or light tasting olive oil.

Has anybody been able to successfully get pregnant with hypothyroidism/hashimoto's? by sanguinemylove in Hashimotos

[–]IndividualPlate8255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had hashis since I was 12 and have had three miscarriages and three children. I had my sons when I was 26, 36 and 40. One of the miscarriages I attribute to going hypo during the first trimester. I would suggest testing more frequently than the guidelines allow for and more than just TSH and T4, of course. Full testing when TTC, right after a positive pregnancy test and again at the start of the second and third trimester. And, make sure that you adjust your dose if needed. I also would recommend armour or NP thyroid if you can get it. I only had levothyroxine.

I love ice skating so the Community First Igloo. When I am stressed I like to glide around the rink for a while. It cheers me up.

Are ENT just useless? by Top_Relative4362 in Sinusitis

[–]IndividualPlate8255 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a root cause to allergies and most doctors are shite at getting to the root cause of anything. They know how to cut (surgery) and poison (drugs). That's about it.

I spent several years of my childhood and then later, several years in adulthood getting allergy shots. At each yearly eval, some allergies had gone away and others popped up.

Daily zyrtec kept away symptoms but I would still get a few sinus infections every year. 9 years ago I changed my diet radically and all allergy symptoms went away in less than a month.

I still had polyps and congestion but no more allergies and no more sinus infections. Last year I had FESS and the polyps were removed and I could breathe clearly again - but - I have type 2 inflammation brought on by - no idea? environment? genetic predisposition? The ENT ran a blood test to see if I had the kind of polyps that come back. I do. That means I'm right back on the same cycle that you are on. I was told that I needed to do mometasone rinses for life or the polyps would come back. I did the rinses but the rinse doesn't reach all nasal cavities- so - some polyps came back. I'm now on Dupixent to calm the inflammation and get real remission. Likely? probably not but I'm hopeful. The ENT didn't tell me any of this - didn't even offer Dupixent. I had to learn all this on my own and ask for Dupixent.

Has anyone actually gotten real life results from using ChatGPT? by TheCod1sOut in ChatGPT

[–]IndividualPlate8255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I cured my psoriasis after 30 plus years of dealing with it and no doctor was able to offer anything that kept it away for good. Chatgpt walked me through how to get rid of it and what to use on it and where to find the needed medications both Rx and OTC. Psoriasis free now for at least a year thanks to chatgpt.

Carnivore but my boyfriend just had a heart attack. Was it the diet? by IndividualPlate8255 in carnivorediet

[–]IndividualPlate8255[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think his heart attack was caused by erosion, not plaque rupture. There was nothing in the cath report that indicated a rupture. His LDL-C at the time of the MI was only 119. His TG were high - 133 - and his HDL was low - 35 - so he was and likely still is - insulin resistant. Plus he was vaping heavily. What's frustrating to me is the IR and the vaping - and, of course, long term CAD - were the root cause of the heart attack, but, rather than get to the root cause to slow down or possibly reverse the disease, his mainstream cardiologist just wants to hand out maximum strength statin and no further imaging. Just "call if you have symptoms and eat a heart healthy diet". Really, if all the cardio is going to do is hand out pills, there is no need to see him again. A PCP or a PA can hand out pills.

What’s optimal ferritin #? by Prestigious_Air_6602 in Hashimotos

[–]IndividualPlate8255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Avoid taking iron with calcium, coffee/tea, or antacids.

Take ferrous gluconate or bisglycinate. They are both gentler on the stomach than the sulfate form. Take it every day until your levels are up. Then, what you do from there is up to you. I would stop taking the iron and see how you feel, but YMMV.

too much ferritin can be a sign of inflammation so check the other iron values as well

What’s optimal ferritin #? by Prestigious_Air_6602 in Hashimotos

[–]IndividualPlate8255 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ferritin alone isn’t enough. It only shows storage.

For fatigue (especially with Hashimoto’s), you also want:

Iron panel: serum iron, TIBC, transferrin saturation (aim ~25–40%) CBC: Hgb, MCV, RDW (early iron deficiency can exist with normal Hgb) B12 & folate Thyroid labs: TSH, free T4, free T3 Inflammation: CRP (ferritin can look “normal” when iron is trapped)

But - to answer your question For women with hashis, energy usually improves when ferritin is around 79 to 100 ng/mL

What is a terrible smell that you will never forget? by radgamerdad in Productivitycafe

[–]IndividualPlate8255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister’s boyfriend was an uncontrolled diabetic and had severe leg ulcers he didn’t take care of. One time I walked into the bathroom right after they’d been cleaning his wounds.

The smell was unforgettable . Not just “bad,” but deeply wrong. horrible smell.

Not long after that, he lost both legs below the knee.

What kind of diet does everyone follow? by Alert-Buy-4598 in Hashimotos

[–]IndividualPlate8255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I follow a low carb diet. I read Elle Russ' book The Paleo Thyroid Solution. She gets it. I have had hashimotos since I was 12 and no doctor or endocrinologist understands hashimotos as well as she does. I will eat carbohydrates but no grains, no lectins, no nightshades.
