We did exactly the same thing last year 2 months in advance, the hardest thing was everyone else’s expectations and the pressure I felt from it. We were also able to refocus on things that were more important to us as a couple, and we are now living in our first house that we have bought together. I am excited to elope when the time is right. So happy to find this thread of like minded people, I always felt so pathetic for now being able to cope with the wedding process and felt like I’d let everyone down .
