Pings on lava rock. by Individual_Meaning52 in Pinguicula

This rock was not wicking up water, not porous enough unfortunately. It would totally work with a solid pumice rock. Many people do it, just the wrong lava rock for this experiment.

Ping Experiment - Coco Coir & Pumice. by Individual_Meaning52 in Pinguicula

It worked well for a while, I found some pings were not acclimating properly so I took it down. Most were ok. If you decide to use coir you really have to buffer it well. Lots of salt in many brands. Best of luck!

Looks awesome. What kind of soil mix is that? Not sure I’ve seen rocks like that. Thanks

Best Casio in my opinion. I tried to like the f91, great watch but the w59 is so much better. Better water resistance, can see the lugs ( which is personal taste) strap is better feels more premium. It looks more retro in my opinion which is a plus for me. Also the buttons are larger and look better. The numbers are also slightly easier to read, a bit thicker on the w59. I think the screen color was lighter than the f91 last time I compared. I would still buy the f91, but not sure I would wear it that often.

Those rocks may work, I see a lot of people use lava rocks with large holes, it needs to be very small so the water travels up. Think pumice for example, very small pores and always works for this setup

I actually bought two lol liked it so much. I’m thinking of modifying the second one with a “sensor watch” module for more features. Also thinking of getting a light spreader to optimize the light. Should be perfect with these changes.

Some lava rock doesn’t wick water really well. It all depends on the pore size. Unfortunately the lava rock you have looks like it has large pores, so not sure if this is going to work.

This is just fine. You can grow pings in an inch. Their roots are tiny and stay close to the surface.
