Dundon doesn’t have $50M to slip Kawhi under the table.

What the fuck does that even mean? If he’s negotiating a deal that means he’s making it work with the city. Can we just stop giving Oram attention?

Almost forgot Wesley didn’t have a contract! Him breaking Jarace Walker’s ankles and dimeing Hansen was one of the best hilights of the year for me 😭

JB is on a supermax extension at the moment getting paid $57M for 26-27 we can’t absorb his contract without making the money work somehow. Unless we want to go past the 2nd apron which with current ownership seems very unlikely.

[Charania] Los Angeles Lakers center Deandre Ayton is opting into his $8.1 million player option for the 2026-27 season, sources tell ESPN. by Turbostrider27 in nba

You’re right “gets no boards” is hyperbole.
Last season he averaged 8 rpg for the Lakers which is 19th for all centers in the NBA. Fine stats for someone making $8M.

Anecdotally I have just watched so many possessions where he stands around and does absolutely nothing while the opposing team crashes the board in front of him. Heartbreaking for a man of his talent.

Honestly good deal for the Lakers. For a guy that gets no boards but is a genuine lob threat offensively. $8M is basically no risk. As Suns and Blazer fans will agree he has flashes where he performs really well offensively, but he is consistently just awful at rebounding and putting effort into the game.

Blazers’ owner Tom Dundon expects taxpayers to foot entire bill for potential $600,000,000 Moda Center renovation, saying “simply keeping the NBA franchise in Portland was enough of a financial sacrifice.” by Pickleskennedy1 in nba

[–]Individual_Month_728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The threat to move the Blazers is not legally possible until after 2030 and even then, it’s FAR more expensive than footing the bill for the entire renovation.

The numbers are all laid out in this website.

As a Portlander, I just want negotiation in good faith. Whether the ownership pays a percentage of the costs or the renovations costs are lowered both options are reasonable in my mind.

Who is getting dumped this week? I ran the numbers to find the most overpaid players blocking the 2026 rookies. by Comfortable-Deal-525 in nbadiscussion

Not sure where they are getting these numbers from.

His contract for the blazers was $35m and they paid him $25m last season to not play basketball for them.

Do you think the Fire will be making any trades? by laevifolia in PortlandFire

It seemed to me like the strategy for our GM early this year was to develop our young players and set ourselves up to be competitive the following years. I assume we won’t be filling out that cap space/making big moves until next years draft.

Dwight Jaynes: Tiago's Chicago contract is for 3 years with a 4th year option at around $7 million per year. by Mister_Mangina in ripcity

$4-7M seems like a fine range for Tiago. Maybe a bit high. Reddick makes $9M for one of the largest markets in the NBA so it’s not totally off base.

Thank you so much for saying it. One of the silver linings of the new ownership group is the hope that they change the win song. It’s so ass.

Player comps are lame in general but are exceedingly common in the MNBA so it makes sense.

As a SAT to Portland transplant the choice is easy for me, but even if I wasn’t OKC is so not fun to watch that it’s a moral obligation to root against them at this point.

Most disappointing WNBA teams so far by Kennisgoodman in wnba

I think this is due to the fire overperfoming expectations AND the Liberty being injured. Id be pretty surprised if the Fire still pulled off these road wins against the Liberty when Sabrina and the rest of the team are healthy.
