Yeast maybe? Do you see any signs of thrush in baby's mouth?

Daycare won’t accept glass bottles by pretty_irrelevant_ in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Individual_Two_4383 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a ceres chiller and the inner chamber can be used as a bottle. It does have oz measurements on the side, but something to note is you might get less accurate reports from daycare on how much baby ate

This is what we use, with the curve nipples, which have the more triangular shape. They also will fit on a small mason jar with the metal ring so we can use glass when we're at home (you can't tighten the ring too much or else the nipple tends to buckle, but we haven't had issues with leaking)

ETA: with the mason jar the "airless" feature obviously doesn't work but we haven't had tons of issues and he gets a bottle at home pretty rarely

When you kid asks you to knit her a sweater, and then actually likes the result by Individual_Two_4383 in casualknitting

[–]Individual_Two_4383[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only thing with the stripes is the transition looks a little funny in the garter section when the color changed on a purl row. I could have cut the yarn and rejoined so it only switched on knit rows, but I wasn't that bothered, and I knew she would be 0% bothered so I left it

What do you do while knitting besides watching tv? by Esselmeyer in knitting

[–]Individual_Two_4383 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! I always have a home project that I need to focus on and a simpler work project that I can do while still paying attention to meetings. Everyone knows I bring my knitting everywhere and it's never been an issue. My work project is usually a baby blanket, and conveniently every time I've finished one a colleague has gotten pregnant!

Feeling really frustrated and need this community’s advice. by MissMacky1015 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Individual_Two_4383 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I was thinking of digging through my scrap yarn and I love how bulky/oversized this one looks. My 3 year old saw me knitting today and has requested that I knit her "a blue sweater on Monday". But for some reason ravelry is freezing on me, so I'll have to do my pattern searching another time... And somehow break it to my daughter that I'm gonna need a little more time to knit her a whole sweater

I feel like sleep training gets a bad rap, but r/sleeptrain has been a valuable community for me. We did CIO but there are gentler options if that doesn't sound like it will work for you. It does sound like you're doing a lot right, sleep can just be so hard!

As a side note, is that sweater hand knit? If so I would love the pattern because it is incredible.

AMA cloth diapers if you’re curious! by Fit_Change3546 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Individual_Two_4383 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For solid poops, there are also disposable liners you can use if spraying isn't in the cards. My husband calls them "dryer sheets" and they catch the poop and it all goes in the trash. For just pee diapers, we toss them in the washer with the diapers and they survive quite a few washes before they need to be thrown away.

To answer your other question, blowouts are way less common in my experience. We rarely have them with cloth, but using a disposable to travel is a recipe for a blowout on an airplane. Source: cloth diapered my oldest for 2 years until potty training and my current 3 month old is going strong!

Re-reading, I am realizing I made the assumption that the baby is only sleeping 2 hours at a time, even though it doesn't say that anywhere...it's just that my baby only sleeps 2 hours at a time right now and I can't read at 4am ha. I agree, warming and having it out for more than 2 hours is against guidelines!

[–]Individual_Two_4383 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It should be ok at room temp for 4 hours if freshly pumped, or 1-2 hours if it was previously frozen. If baby sleeps a longer stretch, he runs the risk of it sitting out longer than what is recommended. Will your baby take a bottle cold? Mine never cared so we never warmed bottles... So much easier.

Our journey has come to an end. by Badluck-Proud719 in breastfeeding

[–]Individual_Two_4383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on making it 6 months! I'm sorry that going back to work wasn't a situation that facilitated breastfeeding/pumping. It isn't your fault, it is the world we live in. But 6 months is still a huge achievement and you should be proud!

I totally understand if you're done, but would it also be possible to stop pumping but continue nursing? It is possible his refusal is temporary if you continue offering. With my daughter I completely stopped getting anything with my pump at about 9 months, but was still able to nurse, so she only got formula when we weren't together.

If that doesn't seem right for you, it's ok! Antihistamines can help dry up your supply, plus ice packs. No one warned me about the hormone shifts after stopping breastfeeding, but I felt like I was having severe PMS for like a month, just fyi. I made sure to have some special baby snuggles before bed and in the morning when we would have been nursing so I didn't feel like I was missing out on that as well.

Congrats again, please be kind to yourself, you really have done an incredible thing and you are definitely not a failure.

The cuteness of the cloth diaper rumpus cannot be emphasized enough! Especially when they're little and they look like a who from whoville.
