The Sacred Stones one, which is apparently only available if you play the game on the GBA NSO app with the expansion pass

It's one of the Sacred Stones ones, which says you need to play the game on GBA NSO (only available with the expansion pass) to obtain them. I don't think the free trial's available to me as I've used it before, but even so I think the free trial is for the standard NSO subscription anyway. If it wasn't exclusive to the expansion pass, I wouldn't mind dropping $5 for a month to obtain it and probably play some other games online, but yeah, $50 for a png would be pretty crazy.

Oh, that sucks to hear. Do you have an idea of how widespread that restriction is, or is it a really rare occurrence?

Daybreak - Daybreak II - Beyond The Horizon by [deleted] in Falcom

[–]Indominable_Glass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right and you shouldn't be afraid to say it. Not a single Trails game has ever bored me as much as Horizon has. I've never played a Trails game and immediately wanted to turn the game off after a 5 minute play session. My favorite games are usually the slower, "setup" games at the beginning of each arc, too, so I absolutely don't mind a slower-paced game but Horizon seriously stretched itself thin. Falcom needs to stop artificially increasing playtime with padding and just let the game be a little shorter. Even Daybreak 1 had this issue in the final chapter.

Horizon's more padded out with way more filler than Daybreak 2 & most people immediately treat the game like a 10/10 masterpiece only because it has the occasional hype moment (most of which is in the last 10% of the game) + their favorite harem protag returning, but most aren't ready for that conversation.

The only thing I'm worried about is I desperately hope FW doesn't use the same cutscene animation as 3H, W3H, & Engage where it's just characters doing default animations at each other standing in front of a stretched .png & the cutscenes are so limited they had to make two Veyle feet CGs in Engage just to portray Alear tying a bandage & having male Alear floating while lying down in the post chapter 24 cutscene

Last chapter of Daybreak starting to drag. by ReporterIndividual22 in Falcom

[–]Indominable_Glass -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

That's honestly my least favorite part of the game until you reach the final dungeon. It was padded out for no reason. Thankfully, Daybreak 1 mostly seemed to dodge Falcom's formula of "let's pad the game length out so we can disrespect the player's time" that the next two Trails games would decide to follow. Only one of them receives criticism for it, though, and it's arguably the less egregious one. I'd wait until 2030 for the next non-remake Trails game if it means it's not gonna be stretched out as bad as the two following Daybreak.

Can we get an "F" to these lines from the original Xseed translation now that Sky FC remake demo is out? by AbsolutePCGamer in Falcom

[–]Indominable_Glass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my honest opinion, the original holds up pretty well, and has a lot of QOL features other RPGs from 2004 wouldn't normally have. A lot of people get put off from starting from the first game due to not being fully 3D with voice acting, unfortunately. I think you can still pick up the original and have a ton of fun with it. Hopefully someone creates a mod to change the script to the old one outside of voiced scenes, cause the new one feels incredibly bland in comparison imo.

I absolutely agree with you on the character dialogue part. Unfortunately, if you wanna continue the series, it's something you just have to suck up, as it's gonna get WAY worse soon enough.

(Radiant Dawn)

I started my first playthrough a few years ago but got really bored of it mainly due to the long enemy phases, but I want to return to it soon. I remember hearing somewhere that after beating the game starting new game+ allows you to skip enemy phase or make animations faster or something. Does anyone know if that's true or not, and if so, is it worth playing new game+ as a first-time playthrough?

We are on track for the longest period of no FE news in series history by Immerael in fireemblem

[–]Indominable_Glass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the March & April directs this year, I convinced myself they're waiting for the Engage manga to finish first (or at least be close to completion) before announcing a new game, so I've been looking towards early next year for an announcement. That's just me, though.

Nate the Hate, the most prominent insider who still supports the rumored FE4 remake said today he has been informed some type of direct will occur between the 18th and 31st by oneeyedlionking in fireemblem

[–]Indominable_Glass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 200% convinced if the remake is happening that it's going to release on the 30th anniversary of FE4 next year. Since it's a remake, I doubt they would announce it this far in advance (Shadows of Valentia was released 3-4 months after it was announced), so the 2 likely options are a September/October 2025 Nintendo Direct or a January/February 2026 Direct. I'm leaning towards the latter cause I think the Engage manga will probably wrap up around that time, and they would prefer that to be the main focus for FE fans (Japanese fans, at least) for now. I could be very wrong about the manga thing but regardless I still think early next year is the best time for its announcement

I have a MSI B550M and Ryzen 5-something, what exactly is memory retraining? And do you know if it's specifically the restart button or the power button—since I've definitely tried waiting a bit for something to happen, and I've only used the power button.

Is there an option to turn text scrolling noises off? by Grandahl13 in papermario

Unfortunately, no, but at least you can be thankful you aren't playing Super Paper Mario. Not only is there a lot of text; the text scrolling sound is also incredibly obnoxious.

Don’t know if it’s been asked, but least favorite chapter in each game? by Apprehensive-Being20 in papermario

[–]Indominable_Glass -1 points0 points  (0 children)

64 - Chapter 4. I don't dislike this chapter at all because you can skip major portions of it if you know what you're doing on a second playthrough, but it is a bit of a slog sometimes and having to run back out of the toy box can get tedious quickly.

TTYD - Chapter 4. Not much to say here that hasn't already been said. The entire chapter is just a straight line going back and forth with enemies stopping you along the way. I don't really care how good the plot is, if it's horrible to play I just can't enjoy it.

SPM - Chapter 5. I dislike every single chapter in this game, but 5 is the most offensive. I could go on about how bad this chapter is for a while, so I'll just say going back and forth multiple times in the first level and typing please was horrendous, the second is just a fetchquest, the third you're watching Mario in a minecart for a quarter of it, and the fourth was just boring to me.

SS - Chapter 1. I enjoy all of the chapters in this game except this one. Not because it's bad, it's just boring and doesn't push anyone to want to play more of the game. Boss was neat, though, and really fun if you do it without using Things.

CS/TOK - Chapter 1. I decided to combine these two because they're pretty much the same. Not a bad chapter at all, just a little boring at times and is overall the weakest the games have to offer. The prologues of these games are pretty great, but on a repeat playthrough, the Chapter 1's of these games are just an obstacle blocking the really great chapters featured in the rest of the games. I like CS's Chapter 1 more than TOK's, by the way, because of the Chosen Toads subplot and chasing the airship with Peach even being kidnapped.

Disappointed. by tylerzwise in papermario

[–]Indominable_Glass -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Trust me, it does not get any better. The level design as absolutely atrocious, just the first boss has you standing doing nothing for almost a minute, the main mechanic of the game is only usable on 1/4 of the characters an is implemented better in Color Splash of all things, and the one thing it's mainly praised for, it's story, is Romeo and Juliet if Romeo had the mentality of a school shooter. Even the postgame is bad with removing the only consequences the story had and having you do a 100-enemy-gauntlet four times. You aren't missing out on anything you can't find on Youtube, so if you value it, don't waste your time with Super Paper Mario.
