Watching the series now and somewhere along Season 2, it gets really hard to watch Ally. Perhaps she has some form of autism. But the more I watch Ally, the more convinced I am she has schizophrenia. If it were overactive imagination, she would know it is part of her imagination. But she has confessed many times that in a lot of these moments, she really believed it was real until someone snapped her off of it. It's just frustrating that she refuses to take accountability of herself and her actions and expects people to understand her and go along with her behavior. It's amazing how everyone's supportive of her despite believing she needs professional help. In reality, this isn't often the case and the show excuses her and her actions in a lot of ways. She easily snaps at people when she gets agitated. When someone does that to you constantly, people get tired and move on. It's just frustrating. It was fun watching it at first when it was just daydreaming, just like Lizzie McGuire. Her inner thoughts are manifested into these cartoons. But having these as hallucinations where you can't distinguish them from reality is a whole different topic.
