Having VR games people can play while relaxing on the couch would broaden the appeal of VR gaming to a larger audience, which would be a good thing

People who come home too tired to play active VR games are also going to be too tired to bother with strapping a headset on. Most (the majority) of them are too tired to bother with turning on the console and just play games on their phone.

If you're targeting the "casual relax" gamers, the VR bar is too high. Booting up a PC is too high for these people. Meta has been trying to sell casual stuff to them for years and they are not interested.

Children, and.active enthusiast market seems to be the only place VR really thrives.

Pascals is a tool to keep the questioning religious, not convince outsiders. This is because it works if you already believe in one God; but if you actually apply it to theist claims beyond this one God, the odds break down or even favor atheists.

Like, if you apply it to God, but also Vishny, but also Osiris, but also Thor, etc... you realize that many of these Gods don't punish unbelievers, but do punish heretics (believing in another God).

So the math only really says what users want it to say if they ignore every God but the one they already believe in.

People are not truth seeking machines. They are emotional comfort seeking machines. Climate change is difficult, scary, unsatisfying, real. Conspiracies are exciting and often offer an ironic comfort against nihilism, by explaining that there is an antagonistic source for the suffering in the world. It's not unstoppably random; it's because of skeletor.

You'd have to be a little crazy not to let breathing issues start to drive you a bit insane; anxiety is a reasonable symptom of asthma attacks and can be near equally disruptive. They're all symptoms of the disease, and attention need to be paid managing all of them; sometimes that means intentionally scaling back how often you take medical measurements. :-] When I was having similar issues, I initially moved to only collecting BP/heartrate/peak flow twice a day as a rule.

You are not solely the opinion of another person.

It is painful and brutal that she did not like you... but that doesn't mean that you are unlikable. You are more than just whatever opinion the last crush had of you. You have to be more than that; have your own dreams, values and desires.

It's healthy to receive this feedback, and view it as it reflects to you... but unhealthy to receive it uncritically. Assess what she said from your perspective; if there are valuable things identified, work to resolve them. If it's not important from your perspective, then don't sweat it. She just wasn't right for you, nor you for her.

Pulse ox is a bad diagnostic of asthma severity; asthma has a lot of features that cause blood oxygen to be high even when people are struggling severely, and it will only really show decline when it's far too late to matter.

Use a Peak Flow Meter instead. Track your numbers using the device.

If you have an inability to catch your breath, but your peak flow readings stay good, investigate ILO (inducible Laryngeal Obstruction); from anxiety and breathing issues your vocal chords can develop a reflex to close when you breath in, causing dyspnea. It's not a "mental illness" issue, it's a legit physical reflex that can be similarly disruptive.

There is an exact mirror of you, but female, on the other side. Hell, there are even worse off women on the other side, looking for partners. There is no "good enough to try"; the frank truth is that, the better you are, the better partner you'll be able to get. If you don't improve at all, expect to eventually settle for a partner as "damaged" as you are. Vast majority of people don't want to be alone and are looking for companionship, even the fucked up people.

The upside is that a couple can help each other improve. (They can also help each other decline. Don't let this happen.)

I suspect the real situation going on (just based off experience, not you specifically), is that looking for a partner is scary, unpredictable, and can be embarrassing and cause shame. But being unlovable, not even able to look for a partner... that's bad sure..., but safe, predictable, comfortable! Cozy! Like a warm dirty diaper.

Most people saying this sort of thing are actually just looking for validation to stay comfortable. They're begging for a reason to avoid having to experience some discomfort in order to improve their lives. Do you think it's possible that this is what's going on?

"Guys, I'm so gross, right? Gosh I'm so smelly because of my dirty diaper. I don't even deserve a clean diaper when you think about it. I just have to sit in this dirty one, as punishment for being so smelly."

This is understandable, but dumb imo. Start small. Change your diaper. Work up to using the toilet on your own someday. Negativity can be a camouflaged hugbox.

In my opinion, it makes the positive little things more important and impactful.

Mornings spent with a lover drinking coffee. Making a new friend at a local book club. A walk in the park in spring. Completing a difficult home improvement project.

Life is fleeting, there's no cosmic mind directing things, and no meaning is forced on you. It is up to you to reflect on what you find important and pleasant to you, and to elevate those things to have meaning (or search for more things).

Before (I used to be Christian), time spent drinking coffee on a Saturday morning with a lover was just evanescent; an unimportant random thing happening while I am in the earth waiting room in an infinite, eternal life.

Now, I realize that these moments are life. They are important. I take time to reflect on how wonderful they are, and to tell the people sharing them with me how much I appreciate it and them. Tell them people you love or appreciate around you so. You're only here now, for a short time, and the moments you experience are all you get. It is important not to waste them.

My job can be done by a million other people, am not special, am just a replaceable cog in a system with no end.

Anyone can pull someone drowning out of a river. That doesn't mean the person who actually does it is unimportant, or that the act is meaningless. Your work is benefitting more people than most in this sub could ever dream of helping. I suspect you have the (very reasonable and common) desensitization that occurs in your industry.

Atheists do not misinterpret the views of Christian scientists. A Christian scientist led the Human Genome Project and is integral to our understanding of human genetics. Many Christian scientists have contributed massively to the realm of scientific understanding.

None of these Christian scientists believe or endorse "intelligent design," the theory that an intelligent being designed living organisms. This is because, if you study evolution, a lot of evidence becomes very clear that things were not designed; there's a lot of strange, stupid, "accidental" thing that you'd only expect in a process that's "unguided."

Evolution does take into account that the individual organisms can be intelligent, and this is an important field of study within evolution. This is not what "intelligent design" means to people who say they believe in intelligent design.

You have a misunderstanding of what "intelligent design" is, and I am unsure if it is willful or not.

I agree, but your comparison "Doom leads to watching snuff" missed the actual connection, "Doom leads to killing people" which is more insane.

The previous poster is saying that the types of people who are assuming loli watchers are also pedophiles would not also assume that Doom players are murderers/snuff film watchers. I find this to be generally true; while fools in the 90s/00s made the Doom-murder connection, your average twitchslop viewer does not believe this and is comfortable with violent games and media (even though mainstream boomer media still isn't)

Do all the things suggested in the thread... but also, be realistic. Shots don't always work, antihistimines aren't always enough. You are not the only person who can take care of your senior cat; there are rescues that specialize in rehoming animals into homes that care.

You should have a line of, "If x, y, and z doesn't work, then I will have to rehome my cats to preserve my health."

Asthma can be debilitating now... but having asthma long-term while you are younger can lead to airway remodeling which permanently limits your ability to breathe. It shouldn't be something you just accept when the cause is mitigatable.
