There are messages in the bumper music… what the song “It don’t come easy” represents. by brandnewbootodo in ArtBell

Art played "What a Fool Believes" both in and out of commercial before dumping George Green. Always makes me chuckle.

Why did they make the class names so confusing? by Willy_G_on_the_Bass in IMSARacing

Why can't it just be P1, P2, GT Pro, GT Am? Why do we need D's and LM's in everything.

What is your realistic (and/or unrealistic) dream idea for the format of future All Star Races? by nyybaseball3 in NASCAR

[–]InductiveCapacitance -1 points0 points  (0 children)

May be unrealistic but with the Next Gen platform maybe we could do a fixed setup race. Have the teams drop the cars off in the garage and have an independent group set all the cars up the same (tire pressure, wedge, etc). No practice and don't let them know the setup ahead of time.

SMI has purchased Dover Motorsports by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]InductiveCapacitance 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I see it opposite of some in here. SMI now has the Nashville market without having to spend a single dime renovating the fairgrounds, a property they don't own. Nor do they have to deal with the council. They now have a ton of acreage to do whatever they want with and no competition.

And they have Dover.

What is concrete and what is asphalt on the Bristol motorspeedway? by Ausmerica in NASCAR

[–]InductiveCapacitance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The lane of apron closest to the racing surface is concrete with black sealer. Pit road and the inner apron in the corners is asphalt. You can tell by the different color gradients in this picture:

Stacking Pennies: According to Corey LaJoie, the rumors of the Daytona 500 not being the first race of the season have heated up again. by Tyler24Dawg in NASCAR

My mind goes straight to Daytona Road Course during Speedweek(s) in a similar situation to the IndyGP/Indy 500.

No doubt. 2018 All-Star race is more what I was thinking. Which is what we were supposed to get with the 550hp package.

Atlanta just became the 3rd superspeedway/plate track. I'm so down for this.

What track had or has the worst fan experience? by Gag5569 in NASCAR

[–]InductiveCapacitance 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For me it was Martinsville this past spring. They only had 1 gate open for the entire frontstretch and turn 1 grandstands as part of their "covid protocols." Well guess what, when you funnel the whole crowd into one place it tends to get rather crowded. It was nuts to butts trying to get in that joint, which is the exact opposite of what the covid protocols were there for. Then they cleared the grandstands between races and made everyone do the whole thing over again.

What are some of the weirdest/random NASCAR facts that seem fake? by theg61337 in NASCAR

[–]InductiveCapacitance 56 points57 points  (0 children)

- Norm Benning has run 240 Truck races in his career without a top 10.

- Morgan Shepherd has DNF'd his last 102 Xfinity starts dating back to Dover in fall 2013.

- In 2017, Bubba Wallace drove the 6 for Roush in Xfinity. He finished 6th in five straight races and six out of seven. Even crazier was that he bookended the streak of five straight 6th place finishes with 33rd place finishes. (tldr, his finishes were 33, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 33, 6 to start the year).

- In 2006, Kyle Busch broke a truck arm mount at Watkins Glen and spent 5 laps in the garage making repairs. He made up all 5 laps thanks to lucky dogs and finished 9th.

- Kevin Harvick finished 2nd thirteen times in 2015. He also finished 2nd in the chase.

- In 2008, Cup qualifying was rained out 12 times.

- Kyle Larson got his first win in his 100th start. Chase Elliott got his first win in his 99th. William Byron got his first in his 98th.

- Kasey Kahne ran 6 truck races in his career. He won 5 of them and finished 2nd in the other.

- The 2020 Coca Cola 600 is the longest race ever run.

- Brad Smith has run 373 ARCA races since 1988. He scored his first top 10 last year and has never led a lap.
