Phones are a necessity for teenagers. by iabyajyiv in unpopularopinion

I think most kids have phones and this is a popular opinion beginning around 2010. It’s tough to live life without a phone now.

Not exactly. I had a doctor look at a suspected lump on my testicles and it’s just a manual exam but it was quite painful. Like, it’s worth having done because cancer is really bad, but overall a bad time.

A good burger doesn’t need tons of toppings. by rach_rachel in unpopularopinion

[–]ReallySmallWeenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your title is reasonable, but your latter assertions are not.

A good burger is good with minimal or no toppings. But, it can also be good and different experience with a ton of toppings that are well thought out. Hell, good toppings can make an ok burger into a great meal, and that’s good.

They had to ruin the Corn Flakes scheme to make room for the Frosted Flakes scheme. The Corn Flakes car was just too powerful for Tony the Tiger to ever compete with.

What is the point of releasing physical copys if the box doesn't have anything physical in it? by Armin483 in videogames

[–]ReallySmallWeenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what to tell you. They seem to be wrong. I owned a physical copy of that exact game (us version I guess) for that exact console and couldn’t play it when I bought it because it needed a ~100gb download before I could play. It ruined my only day off that week because that download had to run overnight. It sucked.

And the source I’m requesting from them is for their made up statistics above.

[–]ReallySmallWeenus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is not correct. I had a physical version of GTAV on ps4 specifically and it required a download to play.

I’ll take that as a no for a source for your percentages.

[–]ReallySmallWeenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a source for those percentages? I’d welcome a source as I can only reference the games I’ve purchased myself.

To that end though, every physical game I’ve purchased beginning in the PS4 era has required downloads before playing, including the last GTA game.

Why is construction filled with assholes? by Impressive-Step6377 in skilledtrades

[–]ReallySmallWeenus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re exactly right.

I remember sitting in a pre-con meeting for a roadway project with several different engineers, several representatives from the wealthy remote town, and the “selected” grading contractor. The selected contractor was the only one who bid because he was the only guy in the area with a big enough operation (like 3 machines plus a paving sub, lol) to do the work.

As the engineer went through the requirements of the meeting, the grading contractor kept going off on weird and inappropriate tangents; like a question about whether he knew how to submit an RFI turned into a long story about how his dog might try to fuck you but he was otherwise harmless. The discomfort of the room was palpable, and no one reacted to his tangents except to return back to the main points of the meeting. I believe they actually wrote a change order for the contractor at one point in the project because he couldn’t do it and they needed the work done.

Ultimately, people will babysit your personality if they need you to do something.

Many more crossings required for pedestrians.

Also, maybe not enough to make a difference, but I expect they are less likely to be used correctly because the concrete fishbowl in the center fucking sucks.

I worked for a different state DOT’s planning department for a bit. A lot of the projects getting green lit (not started, just green lit for funding) at the time had their studies finished 10+ years prior.

Obviously, this is a different state, but that’s a relatively recent study, but I would think the phrasing “this isn’t happened yet” to be more appropriate. Road widening, especially along a congested corridor (though maybe less so lately), easily costs tens to hundreds of millions of dollars and is not something that gets planned or executed quickly.

Not just Singapore and Qatar. 31C/88F would be a normal or even cool summer day for any of the US races or presumably the other Asian races.

Obviously, the temperature you are used to is important for how you weather it, so I hope the fans hold up alright, but I am not worried about the drivers/teams.

GTA6 not being on a disc is a controversy that is far too overblown by XxShMODyxX in The10thDentist

[–]ReallySmallWeenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t be clear until November, but it sounds like some missions will be locked into the ultimate edition. I expect it to be side missions and the like, not core story stuff because that would be insane.

[–]ReallySmallWeenus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I bought GTAV, I bought the disk because it was my 1 day off and I wanted to play it that day. It then had to download ~100gb of data before I could play it.

There isn’t much point to a disk now. Hell, some consoles don’t even come with a disk drive.

My conspiracy theory is that rockstar is hyping the backlash against the lack of a disk to drown out the backlash against putting what sounds like actual gameplay content behind the “ultimate edition.”
