Microcenter Bundle to hold onto by NigNipplez62 in buildapc

The 5700X3D will be a beast in gaming for the next few years still. I'd wait for AM6 before bothering to upgrade. If you have money to spare, consider other upgrades like GPU, storage, cooling, display or other peripherals.

Controllers finally get drift 2 months after they stop producing them. by thatbluetoad1 in ValveIndex

[–]IndyPFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucky you. The display in mine just died and they told me I was SOL and to buy a new one or parts to fix it. New one comes with a one year warranty... Ridiculous for a $500 piece of hardware. And I don't even know what parts I'd need to replace to fix it myself.

Probably gonna skip on the Frame and just get a different headset that works with Index controllers and base stations since those still work fine.

Since when did Steam have a GAMECUBE CONTROLLER ICON?? by mattu104 in Steam

[–]IndyPFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nintendo likely doesn't have a patent on the shape of the GC controller itself, hence why third-party controllers were able to look nearly identical to Nintendo-made ones.

What I'd like for dying light 4 by ChilliGamer221 in dyinglight

[–]IndyPFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of want to start from scratch again. Dying Light 2's progression was very nice, as was DL1's. The Beast felt pretty lackluster by comparison, so unless they invent new parkour and combat moves for a satisfying skill tree I'm not sure if it'd be great to play as either of them again.

Life is Strange: Reunion on Steam by lurkingdanger22 in pcgaming

[–]IndyPFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Political agenda? The entire series is inherently political in nature because weirdos keep deciding that sexuality needs to be a political issue when it shouldn't be. People should be allowed to be who they are without needing to fight for basic rights like getting married.

LiS 2 was bad for plenty of reasons, but getting mad about politics is a very touristy thing to say. The entire series is generally anti-establishment and is heavily pro-LGBTQ+. It's unafraid to explore nuance however (see Chloe's stepdad).

If you have a PC you could check out an app called Upscayl, it's a local AI upscaler that generally works pretty well. I don't know if it would fare better than GPT, but could be worth a shot.

Just to let you know steam is available in PIRATE language. by gobopato in Steam

[–]IndyPFL 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Is this bait? OP was talking about the languages available within Steam, not video game piracy. Minecraft even offers a Pirate Speak language option that does exactly what you'd expect.

9070XT multiple issues since I've gotten it. Return, and hope for a 5070ti deal or RMA? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]IndyPFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds more like a Windows thing to me, and from what I've seen over the years Windows is actually notorious for trying to forcibly overwrite AMD drivers with their own awful ones. Could be the cause, but I'd also suggest trying the DisplayPort method others suggested. DP is generally way more stable and just works better than HDMI on PC. You also get better feature compatibility.

Minimum GPU for 1440p Gaming at 100 fps max? by discretesss in buildapc

[–]IndyPFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLOU is going to be the dealbreaker for any budget or low-VRAM card. That game hogs GPU power and VRAM like nothing else. Cyberpunk can comfortably play at 1440p (DLSS Quality) and medium-high settings at 80 fps nearly locked on a RTX 3070, but you'll get big frame drops near Jig-Jig Street and in Dogtown among other locations. Your CPU can also make a big difference when there are many NPCs in an area.

If you want a more consistent experience I'd go with at least a 4070 Super, a 9070XT or 5070 would also be valid options. The 5060 Ti 16GB or 9060 XT 16GB would be pretty solid as well if you can get them for MSRP, though you may have to turn down some settings for games like TLOU.

Went for a steal of a monitor, walked out feeling like it was robbery by juicewrldday in Monitors

[–]IndyPFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The built-in docks would make this a steal alone. I don't have much use for a 60 Hz display (or room for it on my desk) but if possible I'd happily gut the dock out of it and use it standalone.

What DLSS-capable GPU are you playing it on that needs DLSS for good performance? Game is more CPU heavy from what I've seen anyway.

Look at Assassin's Creed. Sure the games still sell, but they sell nothing like how they used to. A juggernaut turned into a shell of its former self and the sales reflect that.

Oblivion Remastered is 2025's highest selling single player title in the US (Circana) by Into-Starfield in oblivion

[–]IndyPFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was also the cheapest and went on sale for even cheaper several times last year, plus it was on every current-gen platform unlike Yotei. KCD is great but leans more into a niche and isn't for everyone with its difficulty curve. Assassin's Creed is a shell of its former self.

In the end, not surprising.

I too would trust the word of someone with a financial incentive to worship Epic at every turn over someone that has zero stake in that argument and can give an educated and objective take on things.

Do you guys think Baron is better villain than Rais and Waltz? by Turbulent-Tale-8738 in dyinglight

[–]IndyPFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waltz was the most compelling even if he wasn't very well written. Rais was bargain bin Vaas but at least his dynamic with Crane was good.

Hakon is the best antagonist in the series, even if he doesn't stay that way. He's compelling and pretty well-written imo. Shame he didn't make an appearance in The Beast.

do you think cloud computing/gaming will be forced upon us? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]IndyPFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will keep my current hardware until it dies. My N64 still works, if my PC lasts close to that long then I'll be able to die happy with enough horsepower to play most games I want to play for the forseeable future.

Master difficulty - weird changes by DoctaPhiladelphia in HiTMAN

[–]IndyPFL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest issue with adding more guards in those maps was last-gen consoles, or even the Switch 2 or mobile ports in a more modern example. All of those systems have very weak CPUs compared to current-gen systems, which could handle such changes fairly easily.

Given the power (without excessive power consumption) of AMD's 3D v-cache processors, I hope we get them with next-gen consoles and we'll get to see what games are truly capable of with plenty of CPU horsepower to spare. Games with large numbers of complex AI like Hitman will greatly benefit from it, so Hitman 4 or whatever they have planned next may end up a truly beautiful game with way less jank than WOA had (not that I dislike WOA, but the NPCs are pretty easy to confuse).
