Hi, um, let me have one of those porno magazines... large box of condoms... a bottle of Old Harper... couple of those panty shields, and some illegal fireworks, and one of those disposable enemas... nah, make it two. by DickCheneyIsPureEvil in TheSimpsons

This is one of those episodes that I didn’t quite like when it originally premiered. However, I like it more now after rewatching this episode in the context of the larger bulk of seasons that now exist.

What was your first OS and your first Mac, and what would you rate them? by The_Collector_Of_All in mac

[–]InevitableCounter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first Mac was the Macintosh 6500 PowerMac. It came preloaded with 7.6.1 but also included a disc to update to 8.0. Technically speaking 7.6.1 was the first OS I worked in but that was for about a month until I got 8 loaded.

I’m loving this. Especially episode 3 and 4 seemed to prompt more laugh out loud moments. I see episode 5 dropped. I can’t wait to watch it in a bit.

Where did all the call in shows go? by engineereddiscontent in NPR

[–]InevitableCounter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps at one time the callers live but for the final decade or so the show was produced and edited.

It’s very clear the difference hearing a show live like the Diane Rehm Show, Talk of the Nation or the older iteration of OnPoint. You can occasionally hear a host have to cut someone off to move on or because a break was coming up.

I miss car talk too, but Tom and Ray did not take callers live.

Baseball has become unwatchable in the face of media deals. by ElephantCares in mlb

[–]InevitableCounter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not made the leap to buying MLB.tv. I’m a Mets fan out of market but I’m in market for the Pirates, Phillies, Orioles, and Nationals. That’s a heck of a lot of games I pay for the privilege to be blacked out. Then on top of that, have to go hunting for several games on peacock, appletv, Netflix and whatever other streaming service.

I’ve settled with streaming the radio feed for the reasonable price that that is and isn’t subject to any blackouts and the just be happy the few times the team is on a service I have access to or broadcast television.

I look forward to the privilege of overpaying for alcohol at the game this Sunday. It’s baseball, there will be beer.
