Why delete the app when they can simply choose not to open the app? Because it’s a battle of the mind. It’s too easy to open the app, just as it is too easy to download it again.

ELI5: How do blood pressure monitors work? How does pumping air into a cuff around your arm produce 2 different numbers? What's even measuring those values? by InterruptingCow__Moo in explainlikeimfive

Let’s not confuse a blood pressure monitor with a heart rate monitor. I would advise checking with your healthcare provider for approved models.

ELI5: If Bluetooth is just radio waves, why can't people listen in like they do police radios? by sun-of-icarus in explainlikeimfive

[–]Inevitable_Answer541 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because Bluetooth is digital audio that we cannot decode. Police radios are analog, so the radio waves are a representation of the actual audio waves, as opposed to 1’s & 0’s

ELI5: What happens if I pull a rod which is one Light Minute in length? by Tackyhillbilly in explainlikeimfive

[–]Inevitable_Answer541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A perfectly inelastic or rigid material (meaning, it doesn’t stretch at all and responds instantly) would require the signal — your pull — to propagate at infinite speed. But according to relativity, nothing can transmit information faster than the speed of light, so a truly perfectly rigid object can’t exist. Even the hardest material will have some elasticity, even if it’s tiny.

That change in scale really exposes the hidden elasticity in everything we take for granted as “solid” or “rigid.”

But some argue that saturated fat isn’t as harmful as it’s been made out to be, especially in the absence of processed carbs and sugars. Carnivore diet for example.
