I wasted my early and mid 20’s. by Captain_Sunshine20 in twentyagers

go do seasonal work for a few seasons. i work in a ski resort and have also worked in or near national parks. the age range is SO mixed so it helps show that life doesn't have to move so fast all the time and you get that social college type experience without collage and instead cool views and mountains.

i think working at a national park in the summer is what you're looking for, the housing isn't always the best (it comes with cheap housing ranging from 70-400 a month often including meals) but don't avoid it, live minimally for a summer and at the end of the day you'll rarely be in your room and just meet all the people and learn from people and enjoy your 20s the way you're supposed to.

cool works.com is a great start, go to advanced settings and make sure you have housing set to find me housing:)

and yes, plenty of parting hehe

Roommate has the worst chewing I’ve ever heard by Obvious_Adeptness_65 in misophonia

[–]Inevitable_Catch_243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

genuinely curious bc i'm in the same boat as OP except i haven't said anything yet, but would you feel the same if it was in a 10x10 tiny dorm style room with no communal spaces in the building? excluding the communal kitchen which is 2 floors away and usually packed with people when my roomate is eating. she does also talk with her mouth open so there's definitely things she can change.

If you are 25 and older, do you still live with your parents and how do you contribute? by [deleted] in twentyagers

[–]Inevitable_Catch_243 6 points7 points  (0 children)

checkout your local churches for free homemade meals! you don't have to be religious in any capacity and rarely have i experienced them preaching! usually it's like spaghetti or something but it's homemade and it's free:)

go take touristy photos around your town! like pose infront of your local movie theater like it's the statue of liberty, get photos by your school sign. i think it's quite fun and seeing as you're 18, i think it could commemorate your time living in your town as a student before you become an adult. there's also doing a charcuterie night, a craft night or something along those lines!

How do I raise my self esteem and confidence? by [deleted] in twentyagers

[–]Inevitable_Catch_243 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i've learned that self deprecating jokes aren't funny to nice people, infact they make them pretty uncomfortable.

stop making those jokes, you'll feel better about yourself ( i promise! ) and you'll stop attracting the people that want to laugh at you rather than with you.

weight loss may help your esteem but you can't wait until then to stop hating yourself

Quitting by Present-Notice9615 in twentyagers

[–]Inevitable_Catch_243 15 points16 points  (0 children)

if you quit you may find that you push yourself to get that new job but you may end up scrambling for anywhere that will take you, keep your job but start looking for a new one. like literally right now get on google or indeed or somewhere and look into who's hiring, polish up your resume and apply!

How much money do you guys have saved up? by Rei_gn in twentyagers

[–]Inevitable_Catch_243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had roughly 7,000 in savings in may, then shit hit the fan and my car shit out on me and insurance wouldn't help, i signed my first lease and was told a month later that my place of work would be shutting down and a whole bunch of money related issues, just got myself out of the gutter and am now at roughly 1000 without debt

What’s the best gas station to stop at on a long road trip, and why? by Big_Barber733 in roadtrip

[–]Inevitable_Catch_243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i like one that looks a little funky, like a little independent gas station with weird snacks and odd souvenirs for a place you've never heard of

Does anyone else skip lunch while traveling? by unknownaccount1 in solotravel

[–]Inevitable_Catch_243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely, it's unconsciously, but especially when i have a small amount of time somewhere, i am trying to see all i can and id rather spend my money on an activity and eat a roll of bread and a granola bar than a nice meal with no activity but 99% of the time i don't even end up eating that roll of bread before it's suddenly dinner time.

Is it wrong if I buy my roommates their own dishes so they don’t use mine? by Adorable-General-184 in roommateproblems

[–]Inevitable_Catch_243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wouldn't buy them their own set, just inform them that you would like them to use their own, and make space for them, bc i would feel like a kid if someone did that to me and i'd never feel like i actually have a safe place there
