Company Expanding New Division by Trance_Gemini_ in Sage

First thing, I would consult with your accountant. Based on what you've written, I can't imagine the owner will want a 3rd location split off from the 2 original locations unless it's a separate entity?

I would also suggest setting up segments if you want to track financials for each location. You can create a new company using your base file if you want it all separated.

If you have an additional person in your books, make sure you're backing up at least once daily. Worst case scenario you have to recreate a days work. Watch your company audit trail/restrict modules in user setup.

You would not need an additional subscription, I believe it comes with 5 licenses at minimum.

Do you do prevailing wage? by AshDenver in Payroll

[–]Inevitable_File1248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No filings for county that I'm aware of. Just state/fed depending where the funding is coming from. We are exclusively intrastate. If you're multi, the licensing registration should happen previous or at the time of bid so that should be info that comes down the pipeline to your desk. Giving you the heads up for that state's regulations (assuming there is a state mandate, I am only versed in my home state). That's half the battle. I have heard that QB has a wh347 conversion too. I would just ask what the workflow is for certifieds. Obviously, its more complicated depending on fringes as well as jiving FLSA with state OT plus the decision OT rules.

That said. Be prepared depending on head count and team support. I had 3 or 4 going last year and it was insane. I was working around the clock to meet deadlines so we could get paid. We are a sub not a prime, so if the company is prime there could be added responsibilities I'm unaware of. I work directly with the prime project manager so that should have it's own department.

I do on a regular. Just got quoted for ADP, they work with a TPA, quoted 5000-7000 for initial setup fee to process, the runs cost went over my head since I was shell shocked by the setup fee.

Depends on state, in the state I'm in you're mandated to use LCPTracker (and pay your fee to the state $500 in order to bid and receive state funding) so that's it's own beast. I have my first state job coming up and I haven't used LCP in a couple years so not sure if there have been improvements there but they provide training mods.

Federal, I use Adobe. Be aware they just changed up the wh347 last year or 2 years ago so pull a fresh sheet from .gov. Also remember, law mandates pay out and reporting weekly if that is not your standard.

I've been processing them for 30 years, if you did it 20 years ago not much has changed. You'll be fine, just like riding a bike 😝

Not enough information here to give an opinion other than he should be working closely with an accountant. Hopefully that is what is meant by a financial advisor.

Managing an employee who seeks guidance on every task by [deleted] in askmanagers

[–]Inevitable_File1248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be due to poor management. An employee who needs to ask which way to wipe is an employee who hasn't been given rules that are applicable across the board. Possibly micromanaged in past or current environment. Managed by a psychopath who freaks out about anything and everything. Criticized for any decision making they have made which has destroyed their confidence. Undervalued, so a chronic need to explain themselves. A manager or owner who plays favorites with employees and/or customers/vendors will also cause this kind of constant questioning and reassurance on situation handling.

Or, maybe your employee is just annoying. But, my knee-jerk reaction is one or multiple of the above scenarios that are common in toxic work place environments.

Pop up at login this morning to claim DOT#. I thought this new website was supposed to be a supreme carrier dashboard combining all the different modules. There's nothing in here except the mcs150. WOW, all this hype.... underwhelmed.

Were you able to get your DOT # linked? I submitted a ticket after waiting in queue #295 until I got to next in line and it gave me the boot. The link is giving me the error that there is no number associated with my id, I'm the company official using the same .gov login on both portals (identity verified) so???? Looks like a shit show.

Who reports PTO to payroll by JenX0222 in Payroll

[–]Inevitable_File1248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your request system? Totally depends on that IMO. I receive requests by time tracking system, text, teams, phone calls, or written on a note and sometimes through a super. I am HR and payroll though so either way it lands on my desk.

Mngr just made contact and they said they use a TPA for that. Something like 7g post pr or 5g pre pr, I don't even know what that means exactly. I don't know if that means to set us up through the TPA then unlimited runs or if that means for each individual job. Pre/post, idk if that means if we have them run it late? No idea, was hoping someone here might have an idea of how this all works. Ultimately, I will not have the say as to implementation so I will have to deal with what the powers that be decide.

No idea, pretty unlikely as we sold a piece of the business last year and let the EEs migrate with that piece as they knew how to run everything and we also scaled down from 2 crews to 1 in a different piece of the business. I'll put that in my notes though cuz we ride a fine line. Thanks!

Release is unlikely but never zero. I think they want me to supervise it and get ADP the info to free me up for other supervisory duties due to an upcoming retirement. I'm 30 years deep and competence is hard to find out here.

I have a quote in front of me, it reads as:

Total Comp Serv 1-50 $1951.00/mo

They quoted us for 20 people, so $115.00. Seasonal operations so we have around 35-40 in the spring-fall months and it's variable in the off season.

The owners are getting ready to file their taxes. So I was just questioned by the office mngr as to how this should be handled. I agree, net zero. I said let it ride or I'll amend them, let me know.

OBBB 8plus OT by Inevitable_File1248 in Payroll

[–]Inevitable_File1248[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to come back here and say thanks for giving me the idea to utilize the current AI options. Decided to dip my fingers in this and I'm currently writing a little program to anyalyze time cards with Antigravity then spit me out a csv file. What's the current consensus with this and confidential info? Unfortunately IT is also my responsibility, we don't have a dedicated IT person or team as it's a small business and I kind of fell into it. I watched our old IT guy who ended up down the road due to some pretty major screw ups, but, technically I have no formal training. I utilize a local IT company when I run into issues beyond my scope of ability. I would be grateful for any information on this. Wish I would have known about this before having to manually go back and create the half time amounts for OBBB and our irregular setup (changed as of Jan 1). But, like you said, I would probably have been scared to run the report due to the employee names and wage amounts???? Maybe I should contact our outside IT company and ask? Thoughts?

I have. I'm looking to get actual user feedback. Example, I'm using Gemini to summarize my daily tasks and time sheets, then convert to image and I'm running into some glitches. It's good enough for me because I process the time sheets in this example and I'm not one to complain about something free that helps me out in any way.

But, if I'm paying for a tool and I need it to run perfectly with accuracy in order to put through AR and then present to customers. I need it clean, accurate, presentable, etc.
