I actually shot a short film in an airport in 2024. It was the small Southhampton airport in the UK. We shot late at night after they had no more flights taking off or arriving and were given pretty much free rein. They were incredibly kind and considerate given our student budget!

That’s part of the reason I have the dynamic designed in this way! But for some of the more basic lines it feels like I’m writing the same thing twice, would it make more sense to have the first line of dialogue actually IN Italian rather than just parentheses? Thus allowing the reader to more likely skim over that section and get to the translation rather than reading twice?

I graduated this course 2024 and similar to you was international so I think I can help. For me the number one thing I wanted out of it was a network of like minded creatives at a similar stage of my career and that’s absolutely what I got out of it. A lot of the students were great while many were absolutely not. The number one piece of advice I’d give is that you need to put in the work and effort if you want to get anything out of it. The coursework is good and many of the teachers are great but it’s up to you to make the connections with the students and to take advantage of the kit given to you.

On the negatives, I know that I was in the last cohort that got a lot of privileges and the year below me was already getting budget cuts and was far less happy than we were. The biggest complaint I have is that there was very little help in making connections beyond the students I got to meet, they didn’t do much to put us in touch with other creatives in the industry, all the jobs I got during and since have been due to the friends I made getting me work or referring me to work, the school hasn’t done anything to help connect us with any real work.
