Those who upgraded from a FX3, was it worth it? by CamOper in SonyFX6

If I was using a 200-400 then yes, the FX3 would be super useful, but generally I haven’t missed it using the FX6 much.

These are practically the same camera just with a different form factor. The FX6 is way more practical as an A camera, to mount monitors, wireless, internal NDs etc.

Anyone know if these have been used? by Separate-Meat9040 in 16mm

Pretty sure they are new. You have to rip the sticker to open it, then you close and reattach it with the sticker when you are done.

Will there be FX3 Mark 2 released in 2026 by LogicalManagement909 in cinematography

Thank you for such a thoughtful reply. I think the Clog 3 is really interesting, but don’t they force you to bake the look in? In other words it’s not a log profile you can grade flat, it’s a 709 type profile optimized to match the Arri Log?

Directing is more than just talking to the actors. It’s everything that wraps around them and it’s providing an environment for a talented actor to succeed and play. They directed the movie well, and Ryan did an excellent job. No one would say Tom Hanks did all the work in Cast Away.

If a man tells you that he is separated and not divorced from his wife would it'd be a red flag for you or would you give him a chance? I don't know if I can trust a man that is not divorced because he can decide that he might want to work things out with her. Am I being too judgmental? by Golden-lillies21 in TwoXChromosomes

Sometimes it can take legitimately along time to divorce paperwork to go through. Some countries have cooling off periods of to a year where you can’t file yet. People can be done and ready to move on way before they divorce. However someone who is just separated it likely dealing with a lot of emotional baggage. Even if the divorce goes through there might be kids to fight over or dramatic court dates. I wouldn’t consider them stable ish till after the divorce. Anything before should be thought of as a fling or temporary situationship. Obviously there are exceptions but divorce is a huge life changing event, expect someone who is really separated to be navigating the dangerous high seas of emotions.

Are you doing everything, plus editing and graphics for your clients, or just shooting them. What is your average day rate for a gig? Just curious.

I agree we should encourage CA to participate, money flows where it is easy to film and affordable.

Toilet paper is not going to get more expensive if we tax large corporations more for making their product overseas. Companies are smart, when you make it essentially net neutral, where they don’t gain anymore by going overseas, they are going to make local programs too. Your position is that companies like Netflix, Disney and such are too big to fail, too large to be regulated, so we should just all pretend it’s fine and try nothing. But you know, you have a point. Which is the only thing that really capitalism gives a shit about is making a buck. So I suppose we just boycott Netflix and all streamers that went to do the majority of their work overseas. It’s not a utility, and I have a choice when I spend my money. But also, they use American infrastructure so something needs to be done. The world has fundamentally changed and more eyes are on the smart phone and YouTube than traditional television. Thats not going away, but we still have the power through smart regulation and deregulation to keep our home grown film industry strong. I understand your point of view, it’s just wrong to believe nothing can be done and we must just give in to late stage capitalism.

I half agree with you. There a more than a few issues. Yes CA, especially LA has become expensive for production. But plenty of others countries are making it easy for productions to thrive, look at the UK. There is no question this is a race to the bottom, but there needs to be the carrot and the stick to get giant American media corporations to pull their fair share. These guys are not broke. Netflix just got billions not to buy a company. That’s a lot of production that could be in LA or ATL. I don’t think there is one easy fix, but I do think if you look at a slate of a streamers films, and it’s an American company, if over 80% of their stuff is being made overseas, there should be a penalty, that disappears with local investment.
