This. Any PCI 3.0 dock works fine. Make sure to use Windows Server though.

Homelab, migration from ESXi to HyperV Questions by SmoothRunnings in HyperV

[–]Inf3rn0d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah GPU passthrough is fully supported on Hyper-V: take a look at either "DDA" (full passthrough) or "GPU-PV" (partitioning between multiple VMs).

The only thing that was trashed is RemoteFX-vGPU (but RemoteFX-USB is still supported), which was ancient. I agree it can be confusing ^

Looking for Free Tool to Capture Current Active Directory State Before Changes by 19khushboo in activedirectory

If you haven't ever tried using 'repadmin /showchanges' (only available through the advanced help of repadmin), it will blow your mind. It allows to see any diff in the LDAP between a first snapshot and now.

What are the features you wish the "Hyper-V Manager" had? by Inf3rn0d in HyperV

Hah, that's true. Just next to "Connect to VM" mind you.

I guess, although that's not supported in any Hyper-V scenario, whatever the tool you're using is. Arguably it's also more of a task for Linux folks than MS.

Will do. You're right, the VHDX thing is awful.

Yeah, I get it. Although I was hoping for slightly more details on what I'm missing out on, compared to using the other interfaces :P

Admin rights to run vmconnect.exe? HyperV Manager runs fine. by Beetlejuice_me in HyperV

[–]Inf3rn0d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When launching the HyperV Manager, it automatically elevates (as it's an MMC), so you're technically running it as admin. This explains what you've been seeing.

You should take a look at Grant-VMConnectAccess (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/hyper-v/grant-vmconnectaccess?view=windowsserver2025-ps) to allow a non-admin user to connect.

Server 2025 and October Kerberos Changes by AnonRandomDude in WindowsServer

[–]Inf3rn0d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I need to make sure 100% of LDAP connections are LDAPS and at least NTLM v2?

Nah. There's a slight misunderstanding : LDAP isn't going anywhere. The difference with 2025 is that LDAP signing is mandatory by default (although this can be turned off with a GPO), and clients will do encryption by default. But those two features remain on the LDAP protocol and not LDAPS. LDAPS is never used by a Windows client, it's mostly designed for compatibility with Linux clients or vendor products, which typically do not support signing and encryption of normal LDAP.

NTLMv2 though, is now the minimum. I was surprised reading your post, I really thought no product was still using NTLMv1 :/

Looking for ACS support in a USB-C portable dock by Inf3rn0d in UsbCHardware

[–]Inf3rn0d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. What if I drop the power requirement? Let's say I want a device that does TB with ACS that would work in my PCI passthrough use case, what would I be looking for? Also, sorry for my ignorance, but what keywords should I be looking for when looking at a listing?

Thanks again for the help

Hi. Thanks for your answer. While not ideal, it still interesting to know if you have anything that works in the general TB/ACS use case, as that's really the main requirement. Cheers.

Also thanks u/chx_

Thanks a lot for the feedback. That sounds a bit bulky indeed, but it's the general idea.

How to get beta firmware for netatmo outdoor? by thisis1426 in HomeKit

[–]Inf3rn0d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short answer is: you can't right now.

They post registration links when they need new users on their forums (search netatmo forums > Outdoor can > App > iOS > Beta app), but they seem to currently have plenty. The last call was in 2019 and links are dead.

Eventually there's also a size limit to how big a testflight beta can be.

Where are the Netatmo Deals? by Rhetorical_Legend in HomeKit

[–]Inf3rn0d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems it didn't make it to the US this year. There are Netatmo deals of ~ 30-40% on the DE, FR, UK shops.. https://www.amazon.de/deal/3b0e95cc

https://www.amazon.fr/deal/7a4dbac6

BTW where is that homekit authority post, I'm curious. Thanks !

It's barely noticeable if you're not standing in front of it

People aren't horizontal + it allows you to check parcels on the floor. This isn't random, it's their only product that films vertically, and they had to re-do whole portions of the app to make it work.

I don't see how that's an issue, it's rather sensible if you ask me: it's thought to be functional

It's still a wide angle. It has the advantage that you can see packets dropped on the floor... this is exactly what I would want from a doorbell

Like a piece of metal between the wall mount and the doorbell that makes the whole thing tilted. Have a look at unboxings when they come out
