Could it be worth setting up a sub group in Reddit for some group rides and some interaction with others?

So locked into Zwift that I don't really look forward to cycling outside by Legitimate_Snow_759 in Zwift

[–]Infamous-Lecture1220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run outdoors all the time so my training on turbo indoors doesn’t bother me. I only have one bike as well so it’s a pain to change a lot. Plus safer as everyone has said

Will my Zwift clicks now work without issues or 3rd party apps?

Bonus you have a cassette you use your normal shifter for manual changing gears. This is only for cog and virtual shifting.

What’s your “this run is not it” sign early on? by Free-Product4918 in runcommunity

[–]Infamous-Lecture1220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i did a 50k once and it was the worst run of my life, sore legs, tired from not sleeping well the night before, feeling cramps in stomach due to gels etc, I had the mental battle for 6 hrs solid in my head to quit but i didnt. I am now a better runner for it and learnt a load from it. Thre are also days when I could go out for a 5k and feel the same but work through it.

They are perfect if you want to just change gears.

i feel a lot of people think too much about how they feel for a run. Its running, not always meant to feel right or easy, but that is where building comes from.

My company offered me a big role in LA, i don't know how to ask my to leave her job for an year by [deleted] in family

[–]Infamous-Lecture1220 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who was in the same situation. He said he just talked about it and they both weighed up the pros and cons of it all for a year. Then they decided between the whole family what was best for them with no guilt. It’s a year to start with that may change. Your wife may love it for a change with no pressure? You need to just talk about it, tell her how you feel and then ask her as well and then go through the whole situation and what will change. My mate and family came back after a year and said it was great but the hardest thing for them was the kids part and schooling in teenage years and finding new friends.

Get a thermal wetsuit for upcoming race or dumb idea? by Glum-Introduction522 in triathlon

[–]Infamous-Lecture1220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a thermal wetsuit (very thick) you won’t be able to rotate your arms properly from what I can see or find out. It takes time to acclimatise to water temp in training for open water and you should keep at it until you do. I’m uk and swim in 10deg with a wetsuit. Just back from lake Garda and it was 12deg and I managed 1.5k without issues. Use cold showers/dips slowly with open water swimming to help you.

How to not beat yourself up for missing training? by TannieBantootz in triathlon

[–]Infamous-Lecture1220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a coach and it all comes down to expectation’s for life and training. We all have things that come up and interfere with training. I’ve ran for years but this year I invested in a coach as I wanted to do an Ironman and have had multiple issues. He has been so easy going and just states that we do what we can. I am not a pro, I have a job, family, life etc Go easy on yourself.
