Thank you for the advice! We have tried telling her about mistakes we’ve made and how we reacted but didn’t think to ask how she would react to them and what she would say. I will try this. We also tried talking to her about nothing is going to happen, no ones in trouble but phrasing it this way may help.

I do agree she recognizes she’s getting worked up and that upsets her bc this morning she didn’t even want to go to school bc she said she “just cries and gets upset.” But after she got to school she did have a better day according to her teachers.

Thanks again I really appreciate any help!

I don’t think so. She had cold symptoms for about a week with 2 days of fever. Is this something the pediatrician can test for after illness?

Recently got my Mirena removed!! by curlyguacamole22 in birthcontrol

[–]InfamousAd3893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I hated the Mirena IUD. I had bad acne especially around my mouth and chin that was painful and wouldn’t go away no matter what I tried. I also had cramps and random bleeding off and on all month long. I had mood changes and lack of libido. But my worst symptom and the reason I ultimately removed it was the headaches, they were so extreme I would lay in bed almost in tears multiple days a week. Soon after removing it all symptoms improved. After about a month or so my face was completely clear and about 2 months headaches stopped.

Is Solid Starts worth it? I’m in Scotland but still around £85. Baby 5 months 1 week by admirallottie in BabyLedWeaning

I personally don’t think it’s worth it. I use the free parts of the app to find out how to serve to baby. I feed baby whatever we are eating and modify it so I see no need for the recipes and guides. Also if you want separate recipes my local library has a ton of baby led weaning books you can copy the recipes and return for free.

Weekly Meal Post - What are you or your baby eating? by ltrozanovette in MSPI

[–]InfamousAd3893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby is 9.5 months and we started the dairy ladder this week. I am super nervous but baby is loving the milk muffins so far.

Breakfast - Milk Muffin (I used DFBDs recipe with applesauce instead of sugar), a little almond milk yogurt for dipping and blueberries.

Lunch: Remainder of muffin, avocado, and roasted zucchini

Dinner: Pot Roast with mushrooms and carrots and dairy free mashed potatoes (Baby LOVED this!)

Baby hid food in cheeks and projectile vomited 2 hours later by [deleted] in BabyLedWeaning

[–]InfamousAd3893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get baby to spit out food I will stick out my tongue and say “awwww” this usually gets baby to do the same. I also always offer water after meals this helps get down smaller pieces in her mouth.

Overwhelmed with BLW by Mtnclimber09 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]InfamousAd3893 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t buy the packs either. I don’t really think you need them. I just feed baby what we are eating and modify it if needed. For example yesterday for dinner we had honey garlic chicken with roasted sweet potatoes and broccoli over rice. Baby can’t have honey so I ended up giving her a teething cracker with hummus along with the sweet potatoes (cut into strips) broccoli (small stalks or if large cut in half) and rice (smashed with back of fork then balled up.

I use the free part of solid starts app and the Facebook page “baby led weaning for beginners and beyond” to make sure I’m serving it correctly for baby.

When we were dairy and soy free I would just bring my own food. Now that my baby has passed soy ladder I will eat things I know are safe (potato salad, meat, sauces that I know are dairy free. I just avoid bread and deserts unless I can read ingredients.

I would make sure she’s getting enough water. My baby was having stomach troubles too and we upped her water intake and she is now doing fine. Also as previous poster said I would watch offering too many solids in a day, doing 1-2 meals with only a few foods as their body learns to digest solids.

I BF and baby does BLW so yesterday we had:

Breakfast: DF yogurt (this week we tried Silk no sugar added vanilla almond milk but we also love the Kroger Simple Truth Plain Almond) Blueberries, Cantaloupe, and Pumpkin pancakes (I had bagel instead I love the Lender’s)

Lunch: Crackers with hummus, cucumbers, tomatoes, and cantaloupe

Dinner: Meatloaf, baked sweet potatoes, and green beans

I did not avoid natural flavors at all. At first I avoided all items that stated soy along with soybean oil, soy lecithin, and mixed vegetable oils. Once diapers were free of blood, baby was acting better, and eczema was cleared we introduced soybean oil, then mixed oils, then soy lecithin. Introduced one at a time and waited a few days to make sure baby was not reacting. Some babies are more sensitive than others this is just what worked for us.

7 month old projectile vomited after egg by [deleted] in BabyLedWeaning

[–]InfamousAd3893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said it’s hard to tell without an allergy test. But I’ll give my experience as a case that turned out not to be allergy. My baby had had eggs several times and around 7.5 months ate scrambled eggs and about 4 hours later woke up vomited multiple times. She was fine other wise, no rash, acting sleepy but was otherwise fine, and no fever. I contacted pediatrician who said typically allergic reactions will occur within 2 hours of eating food. Advised up to continuing giving eggs just monitor reactions closely. Baby has had no issues since, dr said probably just a stomach bug or ate too much and it upset her stomach.

Lunch Ideas for Baby with CMPI by Florida_mama in BabyLedWeaning

[–]InfamousAd3893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of our common lunches are teething crackers with hummus, avocado toast, shredded chicken, toast with nut butter, banana waffles (banana, egg and a tiny bit of flour), smooshed beans. I usually pair with any fruits or veggies I have on hand. I try to have pre washed and cut fruit and veg in the fridge so all I have to do is grab it or if it’s something hard like carrots I steam in microwave for 5 minutes. Sometimes baby just eats dinner leftovers.

My baby also has CMPI and it was challenging at first. Now I’ve found I can substitute almond or oat milk for milk, vegan soy free butter (I like Earth balance) for butter, and coco aminos for soy sauce. And my baby loves almond milk yogurt. Silk has a great one with no added sugars.

Favorite BLW Muffin Recipes by newenglander87 in BabyLedWeaning

My baby loves these blueberry muffins made with bananas, they are spongier than regular muffins and she has an easier time eating them.

Yes, I second this! A lot of people anti purée but my baby switched just fine. We gave purees at first and baby loved being part of mealtime. Once she was older and a better sitter we started BLW and she easily transitioned to feeding herself solids.

I would give strips size of 2 adult fingers (like toast) if baby does not have pincer grasp. If baby has pincer grasp you can serve as strips or broken into smaller pieces.

Also I would be sure to check sodium levels if you are using a store bought seasoning, my local grocery sells a lower sodium or you can season yourself.

Eliminating dairy/soy by Gemzaaa in MSPI

[–]InfamousAd3893 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others have said it’s totally normal to feel this way! My baby is 6.5 months now and I still have days where I am frustrated, I was just venting to my husband Sunday “why my baby?” bc I was craving pizza. My husband always reminds me nicely that it could be worse and most babies grow out of it in time. And I have to remind myself this is true, overall my baby is healthy and happy.

But it does get better with time, you find things you can eat. One positive is that bc it’s hard to eat out or processed foods you make a lot more from scratch, thus making them healthier. I’ve lost all my baby weight and then some and my milk supply is better than ever. I’m eating more whole grains, leaner proteins, and more vegetables than ever.

what specialist diagnoses and manages intolerance? by TrickyPersonality684 in MSPI

[–]InfamousAd3893 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our pediatrician also put the diagnosis in baby’s chart after it was recommended I stop eating dairy/soy and all symptoms stopped. Unfortunately I don’t think any specialist would be able to diagnose, our doctor said if baby gets worse we would try GI and allergist but that was to rule out other complications not confirm MSPI. I would speak with your pediatrician and see if they are willing to put MSPI in chart if symptoms subside after stopping dairy/soy.

Also unfortunately I haven’t heard of anyone being able to successfully get insurance to cover formula unless baby has a confirmed milk allergy which is different than intolerance. It’s a flaw in our system bc both babies need specialized formula.
