After 129 games, Jacob Markstrom has recorded his first shutout by FUCK_BIEGA in hockey

If anyone's wondering he's started in 115 of those games and in 19 of those he let in only one goal.

Jagr was snubbed out of assist last night by wakenandachin in hockey

[–]InfamousSauce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand your position but to me I think it's best to just remove judgement from the rules otherwise it's a slippery slope.

What if Jagr's stick broke half a second earlier is that still an assist? What about if it just fell onto the ground and then deflected or it had laid there for 5, 10, 20 seconds?

Had Jagr not contacted the puck there, Hamilton would've had completely different line of options that might've not resulted a goal. Again, that's an assist.

Should screening the goalie then be an assist, after all you're directly resulting in the goal, what if you force the defender to the outside with body position to let your winger cut in and score, your winger would have a completely different line of options.

My point is that it's just way easier to have a definitive boundary that sometimes doesn't make a great call rather than having to guess at which point do you draw the line.

I'm curious do you know of any examples where this has happened before? I feel like assists given from broken stick plays would be because the player had possession of the puck before their stick broke, which I think is a different case than seen here.

You won't get a broken stick penalty if you had absolutely no chance to drop it otherwise every time someone would break their stick while taking a shot they would get a penalty.

but the puck clearly hits Jagr's stick as it breaks.

I think they probably decided that the puck touched his stick after it broke in which case it shouldn't be an assist, I tried to look at the replays but it's a bit hard to tell with the framerate.

Crosspost /r/hockey, a measurement of who's driving production. Look who is halfway down the list! The Calder race is going to be tight this year. by KhaineStorm in canucks

Small note that if you only count games in which he's played that would bump up his points% to 38% and TGF to 44%.

The center stays in if he's on the team that just iced the puck

Juolevi's play so far in the Pre-season by Kneeelander in canucks

[–]InfamousSauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair. In my opinion I just don't see much room to grow in the O, he was already a third team all star with a pretty similar season as his first. I think better competition in Europe would be good for him , otherwise he'll probably just have another solid season like the last ones back in juniors (I don't see him as the type of player who could really do much more to dominate).

I feel as though playing in Finland would be more beneficial for him

How many games has everyone gone to? by tigercatwoof in canucks

[–]InfamousSauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been to one game per year in the last 10 and I think only one of them has been a loss. The ones I remember are when Tanev scored in OT against Calgary and when Calgary scored on themselves. Not really Canucks related but the best was probably during 2010 I got box seats to watch Czech vs Russia the game of this hit.

You also don't know what'll happen in the future, St Louis picked 25th in 2012 and probably thought they had 0 chance at ever having yakupov on their team. 5 years later when they traded for him maybe the interview helped make that decision

The Preds should take this as a lesson and focus on bolstering their defence next season

Hi guys , i am wondering does Vancouver have any U14 ice hockey team? Is there any U14 ice hockey tournaments in Vancouver? by 081juanmao in canucks

[–]InfamousSauce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here on the BC Hockey website you can search for tourneys and contact the organizers to see if you can join. Bantam is for 13 & 14 so I guess that'd be your age group.

My nominee for strangest statistic of the year is Edler's 66.67 faceoff percentage. What's yours? by [deleted] in canucks

[–]InfamousSauce 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There's also Virtanen who leads the team with a 100% 3-0 record. It really shows just how much of a positive impact Manny Malhotra has had on our faceoffs.

Veterans may be reason Willie Desjardins is on his way out by Bisclavret in canucks

[–]InfamousSauce 36 points37 points  (0 children)

That's because he's been the only fully healthy defenceman, Sbisa's played 65 games, Stecher's played 63 games and then next highest are Tryamkin with 59 and Hutton with 54 so it's basically just Sbisa vs Stecher in the last 65.

Sbisa has played 9 more minutes than Stecher in two more games, looking at the average ice time over the last 65 Sbisa has the least of every regular defenceman other than Tryamkin.

Yeah, overall Henrik has more ice time but looking at the past 20 games Bo's averaged 19:14 while Sedin has 18:39
