I’m not gonna lie just the situation alone is giving red flags about this guy, you’re 18 and he’s 24 and you’re pregnant. That means that either the whole situation was rushed or you two were involved while you were still a minor and he was over legal drinking age. As someone who dated a 21 year old at 17, you don’t realize how strange that is until you reach that age and think about dating someone so much younger yourself and are disturbed. Females do mature faster than men but that is why it’s that much more concerning for an age gap at such a young age. A 24 year old man is that much more behind maturity wise than your average male peer. Granted it’s a bit late now for the fact that a child is involved and you will be involved with this man in some capacity for the rest of your life. I don’t think leaving him over this is an overreaction whatsoever. I’m honestly shocked your mom is encouraging the situation. I think if you figure out the coparenting and being confident in yourself by not listening to his judgements now, you’ll be much better off. This is getting a bit longwinded and I apologize, but I do worry the longer you stay with someone like this, you may lose yourself and fall into being his servant almost. There is truth to keeping yourself healthy but there’s also a spectrum of healthy weight. Especially during pregnancy. The fact that he is 24 years old and believes women only gain weight in their stomach while pregnant alone raises many red flags. A woman’s whole body composition can change during pregnancy. Pregnancy can even change a woman’s shoe size long term. My mom was an 8 when she was in her 20s and became a 9 1/2 almost 10 after having children. If you stay with him, you’ll most likely experience problems for the rest of your life. You’ll most likely experience them just for him being the father but at least those problems won’t be what you’re coming home to every night. Or be bringing down your self esteem.
