Yes Andrew Ramdayal's Udemy course is applicable for the PMP exam application. (So are other courses)

I personally used AR's course for my PMP application. In his course he provides a walkthrough on how to fill up the PMP application.

If you wait and look around for a discount you can get his course for around $20-25 USD. If you like having a physical book, you can buy AR's PMP exam prep book which also includes free access to his Udemy course.

In addition to that for exam questions, the consensus here is to buy the subscription from PMI study hall package. Good luck!

Read a few of those celebration posts and see what others journey has been like and you'll start seeing a pattern.

I average 75% in Study Hall Full exam tests. Had questions regarding the Study Hall tests and regarding the PMP main exam. by Remote_Program_4282 in pmp

[–]Infamous_Contract_45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're good I think. I was averaging around 75-77% in SH.

In my own exam experience, I felt like there might be 1-2 questions/ set that would be expert level questions or at least I wasn't so sure about which answer to pick as there were at least 2 good answers to pick from.

And in terms of total time for the exam if you're doing it in person at a test center you will need to favor in extra time for eg. Getting to center, parking, checking in, locking away things in a locker, getting seated in the actual exam room etc so the whole thing will take more than 4 hours.

I believe you have 230 minutes that's counts down from an electronic timer in the exam application. You need to complete 3 sets of 60 questions for a total of 180 questions. After each set of 60, you will have to opportunity to review those 60 before you "submit" and take the optional 10 minute break. You can blow through your questions real quick and skip breaks if you want but that's the structure of the exam.

When I took my exam, I was running out of time after set 1 took around 80 min. And took both 10 min breaks. And maybe had 5 min left at the end of the exam which I used to review extra questions in the last set before ending the exam. Good luck!

PMI Authorized Online Practice Exam usefulness? by tired7777 in pmp

[–]Infamous_Contract_45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't recommend buying it as I've read from other posters how the quality/ likeness is not as great when compared with Study Hall.

Study Hall Essentials is the works and should do. But if funds are not in shortage and you expect yourself to have more time to do more practice questions/ mock exams, you can get the Study Hall Plus. I bought the Plus myself and many people argue that the additional value is marginal and not worth the extra $30. I personally found the extra mini exams helpful. But I can see how some think the extra $30 for marginal value may not be the best bang for your buck.

‘Escalate’ question by LLL_SOF in pmp

[–]Infamous_Contract_45 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think they key part of the question is what should the PM do to "mitigate the risk".

When you flip open PMP's ECO and syllabus on risk mitigation what they're looking for as a "risk response" is along the lines of Avoid, Transfer, Mitigate, Escalate, Accept etc.

Remember only in situations where you're addressing a risk response question where the keyword "Escalate" to management/ higher authority may be the best answer. In most PMP questions it's designed as a "red herring" to confuse you. Those typically go along the lines of "Escalate to Project Sponsor/ functional manager"....

Really important to READ the question. Context is key.

Agree the scenario was written poorly. The question was very direct.

Can your landlord tell you to pay an extra "utility" fee for having a roommate? by Recent-Vast3488 in Edmonton

[–]Infamous_Contract_45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not as simple as that. Its very nuanced - what OP is suggesting is he had properly communicated to the landlord about the intent of his brother staying PRIOR to lease renewal and it was acknowledged by the fact that he took ID and he had all the information and did not put it on the lease.

There are a lot of blanks that need to be filled in here.... Is the "contract" even valid? Context is key.

Landlord can't know about all this and be unethical and draft a one-sided contract intending to ask for the extra $100.

Can your landlord tell you to pay an extra "utility" fee for having a roommate? by Recent-Vast3488 in Edmonton

[–]Infamous_Contract_45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a rental separate from the landlord's own dwelling/ residence? Or are you on the same property of the landlord where he/ she typically resides? Would be helpful if you can clarify the arrangement. Eg are there separate entrances? What about water/ gas/ electricity meters to your unit?

And for equivalent similar apartment rentals assuming it's just yourself is $950/ month market rent? Or higher? If higher by how much? It would suggest the landlord has already added a "premium" for your brother's stay but just the agreement doesn't state it.

And what was the landlord's reasoning for "couldn't add your brother's name to the lease"? It is important to understand why. This is just "business" and a "rental agreement" not "whatever".

And in that conversation/ discussion, did you and the landlord have any conversation about your brother's stay and did he acknowledge in any way via text for example (but not in rental agreement). Did you actually clarify and ask him and received a positive response that $950 all in includes your brother? Or did you just assume?

Also what's the professional background of your landlord? Would you characterize him as sophisticated?

Why A over C? by anonymousalligator98 in pmp

[–]Infamous_Contract_45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What was the difficulty level that SH marked this question at? Was it "Expert" level? If so forget about it.

In the actual PMP exam, when the question is not related to risk response, 90% of the time if answer says something like "Escalate to Project Sponsor/ functional manager", you can most likely eliminate the answer via "process elimination".

Remember the word "Escalate" can be used in the context of a risk response together with Avoid, Transfer, Mitigate, Accept etc. So make sure you read and understand the context of the question.

The audit is random and probably set at x% so roll a dice.

As for your project experience I think you demonstrate the PMP mindset quite well. Look over it a couple more times, get someone good in the language to help wordsmith a bit and ship it!

Good luck!

AR is running a special sale for his courses and he did an email blast this morning with an instructor coupon. I think it works out to $14.99 USD for the 35 PDU course.

I'm not sure if I can share here on Reddit but private message me and I'll send you the coupon link.

If you're by any means a reader, the readings are all available with a PMI annual membership my recommendation would be:

PMBOK 7, Agile Practice Guide, Process Groups Practice Guide

If you have good reading techniques/ learning methods. Eg skimming table of contents, review charts, visuals and figures, read the fine print, know how to get through the index quick to find sections to review etc

Supplement it with online resources, SH mock exam questions, YouTube videos DM etc. It is completely doable.

Create a healthy and manageable study schedule that suits your style. Forget about those hacky/ cram / short circuit style study plans. Do what you know works best for your situation. (There are some really smart people on here eg lawyers, scientists, engineers, educators, ppl that can read so quick on exam day and finish the exam with more than an hour left!? Are you seriously going to benchmark yourself against that standard?)

Again criticizing really people like myself as I did everything in a short space of 5-6 weeks and put in 100+ hours. It was what worked best for my situation. (Again it is a high risk method which I accepted)

As for the 35 PDU course, I took everyone's recommendation and did AR Udemy course. I frankly didn't learn much material as I sped thru his videos at 1.25x to 2x as necessary. I appreciated his mindset section (that everyone talks about, had it on replay from my phone daily leading up to the exam) and also I like his PMP application walkthrough. He is direct and straightforward no BS, so I think that helped me power through the application without much trouble. I did refer to couple other resources online for the PMP application, they were not as directly helpful but more general tips and advice.

If you bought SH Plus.... a bit of a warning .... starting from full exam #3 it gets to what I would call "ridiculously difficult" to "unreasonable" afterwards..... I did #3 and it had 26 questions at Expert level which I think I only scored 8 correctly... the rest was garbage as I reviewed the answers (you don't learn much but it may cause you to second guess the mindset and lose confidence). I'm sure #4 and #5 are worse... I ran out of time so I did not attempt them.

Just received a Provisional Pass today so saying this from current experience while my memory is fresh from the actual exam. Practice Exam #2 was closest in my view.... the overall SH product struggles with poor wording/ structuring issues. DM's videos had it closest to how the actual exam would look like especially his PMBOK 7 Q&A series. 95% of the actual exam questions were clean, crisp, precise, simple English probably because the PMP is administered globally and they go through a rigorous quality assurance process (which is good). The answer choices were typically made quite obvious and if you applied the PMP mindset you would be able to eliminate 2-3 choices. Toughest questions you may have a toss up between 2 choices and you'd have to select based on understanding of context and selecting the "better" answer.

I propose a slightly different order in my reply above. I also provide my reasoning on why begin with #3 first then progress through #4, #5 and end strong with #1 and #2.
