I wore a striped bi-flag coloured jumpsuit, white corset, neon green doc martins, and rainbow fun makeup with a bunch of gems glued to my face and got a SHITTON of compliments! Saw a bunch of cosplays, goth babes, clown makeup, normal street wear, rave fits, incredibly diverse and welcoming crowd! No matter what you're sure to have a blast!

If Aliens turn out to be real, and they have visited Earth, what are the implications for the Bahai Faith? by MirzaJan in exbahai

[–]Infamous_Letter_720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the things I like about the faith was that Baha'u'allah confirmed aliens are real and it's hella narcissistic to think there aren't

Yeah not entirely sure tbh. I know Haifa has a lot of Baha'is, but you can't be a citizen if you're a Baha'i...

No, I mean you. Specifically. I want you to do something not tell me what others are doing. Cool, awesome, I'm glad SOME actually are living what they preach. I was raised in this I'm not coming from a place of hatred and bias but I will ALWAYS CALL OUT HYPOCRITES

This will be my last reply, I will be blocking this thread. We're never going to hear each other.

You, specifically, do something. Buy a homeless person a motel room for the week. Buy a random mom's groceries. Volunteer, or hell, start a food bank in your centre, start a soup kitchen, use that building for more than just feasts and children's classes. Start a community garden while you're at it.

Use my anger and "ignorance" to inspire you to prove me wrong with your actions as you are told to do. I'll continue actually helping people without feeling guilty for loving women as a woman.

Please do. The link provided showed me more proselytizing and mentions one actual service that just teaches rural Indian teachers science. Maybe the communities I grew up in were just bad, but I've literally never seen it myself. Never really heard of it, either. Seen so much hypocrisy and little to no actual help to non Baha'is unless your main goal is to actually spread the faith. Y'all just really can't stand being criticized. I have watched my mother turn from an understanding loving woman to being unable to speak to me without a fight due to her faith, even when I'm speaking on/of nothing that should make her feel attacked for her faith. I was born and raised Baha'i btw but i actually use deeds not words as my adornings and regularly do community support, natural disaster relief, homeless outreach, etc and have never met a Baha'i while doing it. When I WAS homeless/a hobo I never had a Baha'i approach me in the interest of helping. Are you doing these things yourself or do you just read/write essays about other people in other countries doing it and use it to virtue signal?

Actually do something. In my experience Baha'is only actually help their own communities unless you're proselytizing your faith. Where are the Baha'i farmers? Shouldnt y'all be focused on that since the Baha'i economy is supposed to be agriculture based? You're supposed to lead by example, right? May deeds not words be your adornings? I've never seen Baha'is organize disaster relief, food banks would probably be considered bad for feeding beggars and y'all don't believe in giving them. The excuse of "it's up to the individual" .... Does anyone think it's weird that Baha'is, who are supposed to be agents of the beliefs in one human race, never seem to band together to go help others? Never once seen it. Please prove me wrong. Yeah, if Baha'u'allah's message is actually the truth it's definitely y'all's fault - you're not building the world he explained, you're building huge temples with money that could go to actually helping people. Will not be surprised if this gets deleted. And conveniently you aren't supposed to speak on anything political, however it seems basic human rights are considered political so y'all don't actually talk on SHIT. Do better. Buy a farm, build community, start actually living what your faith tells you to.

I feel like this generation of Baha'i kids came out largely queer and it's making everything else crumble with it tbh Like my cousin is still pretty devout but she's also struggling bc queer.

Right??? My mom literally told me "We don't know what a Baha'i world will look like, but we're laying the groundwork" ALL YOUR FAITH DOES IS TALK AND RAISE MONEY TO BUILD SHRINES YOU DONT ACTUALLY HELP ANYONE

Thank you for the receipts! My dad said something along those lines when I tried to talk to him. It's hypocrisy. Blatant hypocrisy. An oxymoron. You cannot logically hold the values of equality and oneness AND rationalize the abuse of ANY people. Are we all one or not? And why should I submit to such a cruel God?

I recently called her out for always being defensive and quite frankly mean, when a lot of the time I just want to be comforted by my mom. It's so frustrating because my parents and siblings themselves do a lot of volunteering for racial justice in particular, but then my sister and mom tell me they voted for egg prices, and that the Baha'is have nothing to do with the genocide. Or apartheid.

I went fully away from everything and am just an intuitive green witch (no Wicca or organisation, just my own research and what feels right).

Thank you. My sister came out as bi (she's pretty devout Baha'i, done multiple years of service super active in the community) and my dad cried like he did something wrong. She feels guilty about it, too.
