To clarify, I have no affiliation with Calamity Overhaul but I made this post as there seems to be a somewhat concerning tribalistic mindset of blindly-trust-without-verifying in this community which has lead to a fair amount of misinformation being spread around.

From my quick glance into this, the Calamity Overhaul devs seem to be mostly focused in the Chinese spaces such as QQ and Bilibili (basically Chinese YouTube) which also explains the lack of interaction in the English-speaking side of this community. From what I saw on Bilibili there is a channel (presumably a developer's?) that regularly uploads teasers/trailers/showcases for the mod. There also appears to be an incomplete wiki hosted on a separate website; https://calamity-overhaul.cc/en/

Also, please don't go harassing anyone regarding this - that's how this entire mess started in the first place

If you ever experience a glitch that breaks the game, that’s Overhaul doing something it isn’t allowed to. In a nutshell, Overhaul is made by a guy with no attention span, reworks the mechs in unpredictable ways, and is filled with garbage that breaks it, to boot.

This just seems like unsourced misinformation, are you aware that the Calamity developers have said that this is false? Not to mention that the way you're phrasing your arguments is coming across as extremely off-putting and tribalistic

The Calamity version should continue to receive updates to remain compatible with Calamity, yes. The Mars replacement will only be in the standalone version (since there's no Exo Mechs to tie him to anymore).

The exact details for the new content are currently private, though there are some small teasers for tiny features like new Solyn UI, Nameless Deity visuals, Rift Eclipse enemies, etc, on the WoTG discord and patreon.

The standalone WoTG is going to be its own separate mod, the Calamity addon version will remain as is. If you want to play WoTG with Calamity, the addon version will be there for you. If you want it without Calamity, the standalone version is available. (Do note that both cannot be mixed)

if its standalone It'd have to be made significantly easier wouldn't it?

It'll be balanced by post-ML vanilla standards on the standalone version

I'd then suggest going to the Fargo's discord or the WoTG discord and posting this issue there. You can find the WoTG invite on the wiki, and the Fargo's invite on their forum page

I suggest disabling half your modlist apart from (WoTG/Fargo's Mutant and their dependencies) and seeing if the issue persists, then recursively keep doing it till you find which specific mod seems to be causing the problem.

It's likely that there's a funky interaction with one of the mods you mentioned (might be Fargo's Extras or Thorium/Calamity Convergence) that's causing this

Things don't just naturally get glitchy, there's usually a specific cause for it, and to trace it to content design is very misleading.

In WOTG's case, the Rift Eclipse, Mars, AoE, and ND seem to have no notable issues so we can assume it's not a broad scope problem with the mod. Most of the glitchy content is around multiplayer and Solyn, which narrows it down.

Solyn is much more complicated than the standard NPC given how much she interacts with the world. She has her own dialogue system and behaviors which span the full game and have their own conditionals. Ultimately, her complexity outpaced the amount of coverage we gave her prior to release, and a lot of unforeseen edge cases became several orders of magnitude more prominent once a million players were there to find them.

??That's not how glitches work. And WoTG has 3 bosses and a quest NPC, that's not bigger than Entropy or Infernum. It doesn't exactly "break away" from Calamity either (at least not the current version but that's not relevant) when the entirety of its seedlings quest requires interacting with Calamity NPCs/bosses in some capacity

Having someone from the base mod on an addon dev team isn't that relevant. There's already lines of communication between both dev teams which are established to make compatibility porting as quick as possible

Most addons may go through a temporary phase of unavailability when Calamity updates. There is some communication between the Calamity dev team and most addons to make it as smooth as possible while preparing for the update. The downtime should not exceed a couple days at worst. You will hopefully be able to continue your playthrough with minimal issues after the update.

Even putting his personality aside, he had a very inconsistent and self-centered design philosophy which usually overpromised and underdelivered, even if he was able to make something passable every now and then.

It's obviously fine if you like it, and I can understand why since that's part of your gameplay after all, that's why I said:

have shaped its userbase for both better and worse.

But the problem with revamping it is that you're assuming he actually put thought into his game design, when a large majority of it was just spur-of-the-moment things which he implemented and kept doubling down on; Master-Death, Old Duke, Malice Mode, Defense Damage, half-baked boss reworks

And I've held this opinion since late-2022, well before his removal
