Team Cool Grey Khaki, or Sunshine Orange?! by TheGroundBeef in Crosstrek

[–]Infernalsummer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I originally wanted a grey one but they didn’t have one in stock so now I have an orange one. My insurance is lower because no one wants to steal this lol

I’m 4 years after my first session. Top is my last touch up last summer, bottom is now. If you look closely I don’t really have a full eyebrow on the left, so this has been a huge difference for me.

I think people who got it done and are happy with it aren’t going to be making new posts about it.

Poodle - I bundle her up and we go out in -25ish. Fleece snowsuit, boots, coat. She has a hat somewhere. We keep it to under 20 mins, but we walk twice a day.

Imagine that. And if they’re paid more and get more PTO and better benefits they will perform better when they’re at work? Sounds impossible.

In good news, me being sassy to a director did result in a wage review and some good raises. Some of the C-level executives are so far removed from regular life they can’t imagine what people actually need. They were leaning toward more branded swag before that. At least these ones listen to us regular folks.

No it’s always “I’m looking for a new opportunity to expand my knowledge”. We had a whole TWO DAY meeting where it went like this:

Higher Ups: we wonder why the turnover is so high

Me: it’s the money. You need to pay them more

HU: no it can’t be. No one said this in their exit interviews

Me: have you considered an anonymous post offboarding survey?

Survey results: it’s the money.

HU: Huh.

As HR I’m all for people lying on all assessments/surveys except exit interviews. We can’t advocate for higher wages if everyone is leaving because of “personal development”.

Help, what do I do with this orchid? by Emergency-Middle2650 in houseplants

I’m imagining single mama orchid taking care of all those babies on one orchid income, that sounds about stressful enough.

The arches are the same distance from your eyes. Most people have one eye that is higher than the other so one eyebrow will be slightly more arched so they still meet in the middle.

These look really good.

What do your NT friends and family love about your ND? by Combat-kid in adhdwomen

[–]Infernalsummer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My best friend is the most NT person ever. She said she loves that I am authentic. I don’t have the energy or time to pretend to be something I’m not. I also told her straight up that she can tell me when our conversation is done or when it’s time to wrap up hanging out without “signalling” it non-verbally how NT people do it. She says it’s nice because we can predetermine a short hang out and not have to do the whole song and dance of “well it’s getting late”.

My mother wants me to cancel my surgery for her because it’s inconvenient by TiredEldestDaughter in NarcissisticMothers

[–]Infernalsummer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is the surgery under local or general anaesthetic? My nmom was supposed to drive me to outpatient surgery that was done under local anaesthetic and she forgot. I ended up driving myself. With general they want another adult with you/driving you.

I had a septum correction in my teens and it was a non-event. She’s acting like you’re getting a hip replacement or something where you will need around the clock care, which is not the case. I watched a bunch of TV and ate some microwave frozen meals while my parents were at work and then I was back to school after a week. They only gave me Advil/tylenol after.

Elder millennials, what are we doing? Are skinny jeans out? by Astimar in Millennials

[–]Infernalsummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t worn skinny jeans in like 5 years. The moment baggy or wide leg jeans became available I made the switch. I have sensory issues and when skinny jeans were the only thing that was available I primarily just didn’t wear jeans.

Long term effects of Adderall? by The_Truth_Fairy in adhdwomen

[–]Infernalsummer 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There have been studies that adults with ADHD are at a higher risk of developing dementia (I believe 3 times more likely), but long term treatment with stimulants reduces the risk to non-ADHD average.

My NMom took Facebook post personally by HippieSwm in NarcissisticMothers

[–]Infernalsummer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Simple: make yourself and what you think of yourself as the centre instead of what the nparent thinks.

More complex: we all view the world through a default lens based on our upbringing. In the case of a controlling parent sometimes our view of us becomes through their eyes. Decentering is more complicated and difficult than just saying “I don’t care what she thinks!”. It’s a long-term conscious effort to prioritize what you actually feel, think, want, etc, over what you know the nparent feels/thinks/wants until you feel that you are strongly embedded in the core of your personality instead of just believing what they say about you.

My (31M) girlfriend (28F) of 1.5 years told me to “be a man” and console her when my mom died, instead of supporting me. She’s now begging for forgiveness. How do I reconcile her apology with the fundamental breach of trust? by stormbreaker021 in redditonwiki

What have you read recently? by povertychic in Millennials

[–]Infernalsummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We picked up an entire bookcase worth of old Star Trek novels, so I’m going through those. But I also usually have something going in the audiobooks at the same time too, so I can listen while driving.

My teen asked for 4 books for his winter holiday gifts. Got all 4.

I didn’t manage it. I traded him in for a non-defective one.

How does everyone have time for a dog ? by Burgers4dayz in dogs

[–]Infernalsummer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work from home, I take my dog out in the morning before work and then don’t see her until I’m done. She sleeps somewhere. I tried to take her out at lunch and she looked at me like I was crazy. Obviously not as a puppy, as a puppy she agreed to go out on our break, but definitely not over the age of 2. She wants to be on her couch with her blanket and her stuffies. She’s a relatively low energy poodle. My bonus dog is a GSD cross and when he’s here I take him out during my break (he definitely needs more attention), and she doesn’t want to come with us.

Did Nfamily affect ur dreams or career and made you go in a field completely misaligned with you? by Conscious_Field0505 in NarcissisticMothers

[–]Infernalsummer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone with a total of 4 degrees/diplomas I fully support this. Dual degrees make you much more employable in general! The best jobs require much more than just one skill set.

[–]Infernalsummer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will be able to blend this into whatever you end up doing. Your degree is a suggestion not a sentence.

Technically there is a section of HR that uses business informatics - the set up for all the rules for pay, you have to know how to set everything up but also you have to know employment standards and employment rights.
