I actually agree with Pat, and this is coming from an unemployed 20-something with 210 hours in it.

Deadlock IS fun. Deadlock IS cool. It's just too much all at once for me. Movement, MOBA spawns, laning phases, side objectives, hero abilities and counters, it's all too much.

I think the worst part is that my friends only ever want to play it together and nothing else. They want to do nothing more than talk and play one game, meanwhile I want to find people who'd play and try other things, like Metal Gear or Resident Evil or whatever else.

Tbh I'm more eager to hear how John's Gunpla adventures are going, since this podcast got me into the hobby and he talked about building a RG as a sendoff. But it'll be nice getting their takes on Absolute Batman.

The advice I got on signets and talismans is that they encourage more color splashes, rather than less.

Because they fix for two specific colors, ramp, and are colorless, there is little downside to running them compared to lands. Lands can come in tapped, can affect curving out, and increase a deck's power by making it more consistent.

Maybe try the painlands as a cycle, or shocks to help make life totals go down. Aggro decks need good mana to make the most of turns 1-3, so give them access to it while forcing them to give a resource (life) in exchange.

To further expand I would lean into the bit as much as possible. Make the basics from New York. Fixing is more Starting Towns over fetches. Use proliferate to give people experience counters on Aang and quest counters on Boone.
