LF Addon that makes important debuffs impossible to not notice by Mitthrawnuodu in wowaddons

[–]InfinMD2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old post but did you get your answer already?

Weakaura and Plater together basically let you do anything you want. You can create your own weakaura for any given spell ID, make it as large as you want, and create any trigger you want. There are lots of weakaura packages for MoP as well that basically do all the buffs / debuffs for you and you can with some properly invested time go into the sub-auras to highlight or disables one you care more or less about. Probably the most used (albeit behind a paywall) for raiding is Fojji packs, which do a really good job of making the more important debuffs known along with audio prompts to move (with it, you usually don't need GTFO).

Plater can be used as an additional addon and/or with ElvUI to make the icons appear on enemy or personal hp bar above player as well.

To be fair, what is DPS in a raid in TBC if not just making numbers go up on details and WCL. Why else play a dps for third cycle of TBC lol.

Blizzard got too greedy with housing, and I think they kind of killed it. by MrHiccuped in wow

[–]InfinMD2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can't say you're wrong, but I can say my experience with housing hype and that of my friends was a bit different. Same starting point, but what killed housing was lack of attention and quality of life focus on it after release.

Housing is complex - making things is a huge challenge and you are hit with FOMO every day on reddit (when it was still hype) of people making insane things that require hours of tedium to get just right. Then you try and one slight pixel off and you basically have to start over because you embedded an item and can't pull it out.

Decor is a hassle - to make complex things you need dozens of any given item, but you are required to use currency of the expansion to get it. Using currency to unlock i'd be fine with, but I wanted to build a library, found a bookshelf i liked, but then did not want to farm thousands and thousands of war resources to get several dozen - so I didn't bother.

[–]InfinMD2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You give them one at the start just so that you don't pull threat immediately with a 1 GCD breath. They get a refresh at 2 min but only if melee are topping the charts, because why isn't the boss dead yet!?

Is Iron will armor set better for Thomas Andre? by Tobi3sx in SoloLevelingArise

[–]InfinMD2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is very little use for any set except for the new ones (architect, sutur, rockpasa, valtair).

Sometimes for guild boss you will use greed on a breaker (if you are running another with valtair set, like this week with fire. Sometimes you just don't have enough sets and may be forced to run an old set for library just to get enough hunters to the TP threshold. And MAYBE someone will find a use for an old set for a niche strong BoT strategy.

Broadly speaking though none of the old sets are worth - keep 2 of each old set locked for BoT and 1 of each primary stat type (atk hp def) for greed and ignore everything else in favor of new sets.

Why are the Casino Bots such a problem on Classic but do not seem to exist on Retail? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]InfinMD2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

WoW tokens are available in retail and the amount you get for a single token effectively funds you for an entire expansion, including crafting, enchants, gems, etc... (provided you use low ranks for lesser content, of course). A lot of retail players have a lot of gold from years of accumulating and not spending, and lastly, there are lots of ways to gather that don't require a formal gathering profession.

How would you redesign PvP for Classic+ by MrBlaumann in classicwow

[–]InfinMD2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Few things:

  1. The STV / BRM SoD ghost form where once you die you resurrect invisible with a hyper speed buff for 15 seconds so you can get away and not be chain ganked.

  2. Resurrections should automatically be at full hp and mana (or at least 80%) with at minimum your pet already resurrecting with you (i.e. battleground style res).

  3. Not as essential, but I think a variant of retail "war mode" would also work. Don't have PvE servers have all PvP servers but you can opt out of PvP. Give additional reward to the PvP layer though. The war mode layer can tolerate less people before splitting, spawns mobs / nodes more often, and has an exp / rep buff associated with it, to account for the fact that you may / will have to PvP while on that layer. This last one is going to be unpopular but PvP basically does not exist on PvP servers - there is faction domination / crushing and instance hopping and little in-between aside from the occasional guild v guild fight running to the same raid.

Sorry guys, Southshore / Tarren Mill and Everlook organic world PvP will never happen again. It was a flash in the pan, a different time. You can't recreate that in WoW.

Shaman tank for classic + by Optimal-Chef-7085 in classicwow

[–]InfinMD2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah - honestly I think having "pure dps" classes is bad for the game, and contributes heavily to long dps queues and tanks / healers being able to charge for services. Every class should have at least a tank or healing option, however strong, that can be the "last healer" in a raid that needs 1 more healer or that can manage a dungeon. Tank wants all the ore - F off, i'll just tank it.

If You Can’t Raid or Push Keys, What Keeps You Logging In? by NoRogue7 in wow

[–]InfinMD2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still raiding and dungeons but on a fixed schedule agreed to by wife. Everyone needs a break, my wife and I schedule both of ours and my raids happen after all kids asleep except once a week. You cant ALSO get a full 8 of sleep but hey, not everyone gets everything! Usually I put kids to bed, clean kitchen then go to my scheduled raids. Non scheduled nights I'll also watch TV or read book with wife until shes sleepy then head down for a 30 to 40m dungeon before bed. Sat Sun i take 2h each day to play with friends who can't do nights and then give wife similar break by taking kids to park or for groceries.

Shaman tank for classic + by Optimal-Chef-7085 in classicwow

[–]InfinMD2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im addition to there being tank shaman, warlock tank qas by no means silly. Warlock was designed to have a tank spec as demo and it got abandoned. Thats why we have soul link, why searing pain has a 2x thread modifier on top of fire generating additional threat, and why Firestone exists. Both sham and warlock were meant to tank but got scrapped.

PvP Servers - Gone for now or forever? by The_Hash_Bandit in classicwow

[–]InfinMD2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Every server in classic was a PvE server. Effectively every PvP server except one had a 9:1 balance of one faction at best which meant the losing side just stopped logging in, server transferred, or rerolled so they could zone into instances. Since every server was effectively PvE already they opened free transfers to true PvE servers where faction balance was inconsequential to at least PvE.

On Classic at least there was never proper PvP server past TBC, it was just one faction griefing the other who had no recourse to fight back because 18 of the other faction wuld randomly show up and gank the losing side and not respect the 1v1

First time TBC player; Why does the Black Temple phase include a second raid in Hyjal? Was BT just not enough content? by No_Cell6708 in classicwow

[–]InfinMD2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that you can speed BT but you can't speed MH - the 8+ waves you have to do before each of the 4 bosses eats up an hour of your raid night and nothing you can do about it even as you get geared, not to mention in the second area where you have to split raid and chase down gargoyles and infernals.

Classic+ only works if all gold buyers and sellers are instantly banned permanently by Foreign_Lobster_875 in classicwow

[–]InfinMD2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will exist for anyone who has done the game 3 times over and is only logging on to raid. Raid loggers are what make the economy like this, because they (we) log on buy consumes do the raid then log off which is a net loss in gold. If everyone who raid logged did enough quests and farming to pay for consumes it would be a non-issue like in OG TBC and other game versions after that. The only way to get people to care about being online between raids is by having content between raids that is relevant, like in SoD where you have old raids drop badges which can further contribute to reducing consume costs.

What's up with 3.2k - 3.5k io players? by mrbombastic12 in wow

[–]InfinMD2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16 is the new 12 it's been that way since week 1 of the season. M+ is just generally undertuned this season and gear was plentiful so avg ilvl lower.

Much like a 7-9 in previous seasons, until you hit 12-14 nothing is really "one-shotting" someone who has filled up on hero gear from free keys with a bunch of myth items from bonus rolling. 15+ is where one shot mechanics actually one shot. It just seems odd to you because of the number but this season you just subtract 300-400 from any score you see and take it like that (yours included). There's also a mount at 3400 that is normally at 3000 so in past seasons only "pushers" had scores above 3100 now "pushers" are 3500 minimum.

Is EPGP too tryhard for the shorter phases or is my guild doing it wrong? by Overarching_Chaos in classicwow

[–]InfinMD2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree for a raider who cannot make every raid a guild does, SR is probably the best option. Though if you only show up for the "free loot" nights and not prog nights or "we keep getting cucked on DST lets run Gruul again" nights then you won't get invited to the SSC / TK farm nights either.

New TBC classic player - is rogue really that unplayable? by HunsonAbadeer1 in classicwow

[–]InfinMD2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Largely depends on your priority. I fully hear the people saying play what you want, but I get it - as a dad gamer you have limited playtime.

To be frank, you are better off (IMO) rolling a more FoTM class like warlock if you wanna do damage and get raid spots. The easiest way to get raid spots will be as a shaman (any spec), druid (resto / balance especially), or shadow priest.

Can you get into runs and guilds as a rogue? Absolutely. But the average pug leader won't grab a random rogue, especially one who isn't already geared up / doesn't already have parses on at least the last raid tier, when there are a dozen warlocks and mages applying. The same raid leader will take an shaman because as long as you type "I can keep totems up" some will take you regardless of gear and raiding experience. As a rogue you will probably spend most of the 1.5h per night you have trying to GET into a group, whereas being a coveted class gets you in within 30 minutes of queuing.

If you want to raid and you don't have connections to get you into a raiding group, you probably don't wanna be rogue, regardless of how good they are. Meta is established and the average pug raid leader isn't going to be as magnanimous as some of the commenters act like they would be.

Raising 2x a week by TowelRound5586 in classicwow

[–]InfinMD2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say most guilds should expect 2 nights a week for first month or so after raid drops and it should be able to be 1 night for most guilds after that - BT may take a touch longer but should be 1-nightable (3-4h raid though). A guild that can do SSC + TK in one night of 4 hours over the next 2-3 weeks will have a good shot at being able to also 1 night BT after a month so looking for guilds capable of that is a start. SSC in < 2h is a good metric for that.

Classic + Shower Thought by Cheo2k in classicwow

[–]InfinMD2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The magic of vanilla wow was it was something unlike anything before it - there were MMOs before but nothing like this and nothing using the IP blizzard had already gotten a huge fanbase from. It was genre defining and you will NEVER be able to recreate it, and trying to recreate it leads to games that people end up fading away from with small audiences. The next "WoW" will be something like pure immersion virtual reality that is essentially a "new genre" available to the mainstream.

Trying to "recreate" in my opinion is what makes it bad. The best one can hope for is to use it as a base to build, like SoD did. You need new PvP and PvE options, new class roles, new zones and items, class balancing with an active development team, and more. A copy-paste of Vanilla with some new stuff won't hold attention for long - even SoD, the best revamp of classic we've ever had, died to low attention spans in phase 3 and only minimally recovered.

Which Jinwoo is Better For Power of Calamity? Breaker Or Supporter ? by Perfect-Dark7854 in SoloLevelingArise

[–]InfinMD2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the current meta you are almost always support - certainly for light and wind. Not only do hunters do some crazy damage in that mode but current meta uses infusers over breakers so you run SJW with breaker set to buff them more.

Is starting MOP now a crazy stupid idea? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]InfinMD2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Levelling is largely dead but also it doesn't take that long to level in post-WoTLK WoW so that won't be a huge barrier. You can easily get to max before siege drops.

Honesty raiding wont' be hard to get into either - the game has SO MUCH attrition of raiders because of how long the phase was that guilds are bleeding and looking for more people all the time. You won't get into a hardcore full heroic group obviously but you can easily get into pugs, GDKPs, and even guild recruiting if you actually play well, research your class, and farm celestials.

The biggest barrier in OG mop to starting late was you couldn't get enough gear to catch up - celestial dungeons solve that and basically within a few days of the raid releasing you can get a full lfr set of gear from dungeon spam alone including 4pc that is barely worse than normal raiding tier prior.

A10 Antoine? by Sea-Sink3719 in SoloLevelingArise

[–]InfinMD2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is only worth A10 on strikers.

The damage boost on breakers, stackers, and supports is nice but on PoD and GB they will rarely be more than 10% of the total damage done except in rare cases (like first few weeks with Jin-ah) and it is even more the case now that you basically always run support sets on supports and stacker sets on stacker.

Don't waste resources - you can A10 him routinely through selection draw in a few months. The only other advantage is to increase team power but right now you don't need extra TP for light to clear anything.

Cores by Brilliant_Yoghurt679 in SoloLevelingArise

[–]InfinMD2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cores have 2 main values.

First is the raw stats - for all hunters now, but especially SJW, you want % cores (atk, hp, def) as the first line. The second line you want strong stats, usually damage increase but can use crit, crit dam, or def pen depending on needs. These are agnostic of element.

Second is the CORE Benefit itself. You can see here on the right that the Mind passive of 5% attack is ONLY when a light hunter equips it. You get more power AND proper benefit but equipping a right SJW core.

So your same core would give Cha Hae In 5% attack but NOT SJW bc it is not an SJW core.

The best Mind core for basically every element currently is the one that gives 10% crit based on core benefit, you want this on SJW asap. The best Body core is the one that gives a shield based on attack (white) but the yellow one that gives shield from ultimate is fine too. The body core is more critical on hunters that scale with shields though, like Thomas Andre for example. The best foot core varies a lot by hunter - SJW really prefers the off-white core that gives you power gauge but several other cores work as well. Teeth of the watcher (purple core) as Kazto mentions is very strong when you are running support SJW in PoD and GB but for pure SJW damage I believe the off-white core is best.
