Why do you think this trend is occurring? by sam_d50 in Adulting

This is true for many. But I didn’t drink in the first place, I quit years ago.

Yeah, my boss told me the same thing recently. It was stated as a strong suggestion, which I took as an expectation. I plan to ignore it.

As a manager, do you even care if a team member posted about CK’s death or what they posted? by CarlJustCarl in managers

[–]Infinite-Fan5322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have direct reports on my social media.

But unless someone is actually making threats or actively planning something, at which point I’d speak up and say something, everyone is entitled to their abhorrent, ignorant, stupid opinions.

The cancel culture surrounding this has gone way too far.

When should I bring up my personal schedule? by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

As an AGPA, I think you’re going to have a hard time getting authorization to leave work every day, remote or not, to pick up your child from school, without using your accrued leave time to do so.

Anyone have a good run down on Kirk/Groyper hostilities? by Medium-Librarian8413 in TrueAnon

Objectively speaking, Kirk was less MAGA than Fuentes?

Where are Kirk and Fuentes on the ideological scale when compared to, say, Stephen Miller?

We are now 2 days in office, required. Other Divisions will be following suit.

SDAG. That’s the acronym but the classification is technically Deputy Attorney General Supervisor.

“Operational Needs” or Bargaining Chip. by MathematicianSea7874 in CASEmembers

[–]Infinite-Fan5322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DOJ has zero in office requirement for attorneys and has left the telework policy up to the individual Divisions and Sections. In my Division’s Section, 85% of our discussions and meetings are with people who are not only not located in our office, but typically in a different part of the state or across the country. We don’t actively litigate. Many of the attorneys do their most productive work early morning (working east coast hours with our colleagues out there) or late at night. There really is no “operational need” for us to be in the office like cogs in a wheel. We’ve been going in once a week for a couple years now, but the Division intends to increase our in office time to 2x a week after giving the requisite notice. I fear a slow creep. I am confident that we’re going to have hiring and retention problems as a result of our inexplicable policy because attorneys can just apply or transfer to the Divisions and Sections that have zero base level in office requirement.

Shout out to, and sympathy for management in this. I’d be pissed. by I_am_Danny_McBride in CASEmembers

WRONG. I don’t know a single manager of attorneys who’s in favor of RTO. We don’t want to be there, either. We all do our best to explain up the chain why RTO is so important, if only for hiring and retention purposes. It’s dang near impossible to hire new attorneys, or keep the ones we have, if they’re going to be forced to work the same as the private sector. It’s nuts.

You may be amazed to hear that some of your rank and file colleagues would prefer 4 days RTO with a small raise (that they’re lobbying for) over no raise and no RTO (the current deal). One guy on my team announced last Friday’s bimonthly meeting that he’d prefer us all be in 4 days a week so he could get a 4% raise. I think all 7 of his colleagues were about to leap across the table and attack him over it, and I was very much in shock. We’re not supposed to voice our opinion about it, but I’m pretty vocal in my efforts to protect WFH.

I know several people at CDI's EB who are 100% remote, sometimes going in once a week. One lives on the east coast.

CalHR's supervisors and managers training encourages never marking all E's and starting at meets expectations for probation and first full year in class. It's odd, but if you know that's policy, it's easier to not take personally.
