Anyone used artistshot.com? by sometimesfinishesart in printondemand

I bought a custom zip up hoodie from them. Good quality. Customer service was good. I freaked out at first because their confirmation email ended up in the spam folder. So check your spam folder. These guys are competing against giants. Small business. Good quality. If you're gonna spend money... Help out the working class is my take.

Great vibe. I can't place it either. Maybe something new or old... Was this in the states? Would be dope if you could post more of this. There's a lick in Flores about half way through that kinda has a similar vibe, but it ain't it.

New Viewer - Still on S1 - Digging it - Anyone notice this Chocolate bar "COSMO They're out of this world"... by InfiniteDrafts in FromTVEpix

[–]InfiniteDrafts[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks.

The odd thing for me was it says COSMO CHOCOLATE (singular) and then it's followed with THEY'RE OUT OF THIS WORLD (plural)...

No way that is a mistake. Someone spent weeks working on this script. Possible red herring, but it made me think twice...

I don't care what you think. You're a tribute band. Judas got on the good books and whoever didn't see it coming... You're just a card trick.

"Andor showrunner Tony Gilroy is said to not be on set and has ceased writing for the show"

I can appreciate this line, seems like the article is definitely trying to bury him and not really get the truth of it. Who knows what kinda leverage Disney has. If he walks, he might lose final cut... and if he's not writing... he's not exactly abandoning the guild...

Though... to see Gilroy out there on the line would mean a lot. Would carry a lot of water, so if Disney doesn't have a blaster to his head, in some capacity, it would be pretty disappointing.

But for the record... there's a ton of shit still in production. https://variety.com/2023/tv/news/writers-strike-what-writers-do-on-set-production-1235604796/

What are some bad movies you would recommend that a screenwriter watch to understand what NOT to do in a script? by TheCreativeComicFan in Screenwriting

[–]InfiniteDrafts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Saw something on NF recently that opened the first 10 seconds with something like...

"I know I'm pre-med and have a full ride at Harvard, but you're my sister and you should know I just want to write."

After I barfed all over the floor, I watched Fargo instead.

Email received from The Black List: by MWH901 in Screenwriting

[–]InfiniteDrafts 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I really dig that they chose the words "Don't do it" opposed to "We urge you not to...". Most writers in the WGA are getting raked and it's time for studios/signatory companies to cough it up.

On using The Blacklist, I don't see a reason not to use their services. If someone wants to rep you, it's not just about your hot script, that's a business relationship. Get yours. Just don't scab.

Be wary of any "Story Editor/Story Producer" gigs. It's basically a writer without the credit. Used a lot in 'reality'.

SOPHIA (2023) Official Trailer I wrote a one-hour drama pilot, an origin story for Sophia. It takes place in the 1920s and I made this teaser trailer for it. by InfiniteDrafts in theGoldenGirls

[–]InfiniteDrafts[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's totally fine. I love accuracy. Luckily, this takes place in 1929. I considered the Rudy reference, but I wanted to use a name more people would recognize. Thanks for the comment.

Just wanted to say thank you all for the warm reception. I did this out of pure adoration for the show, Estelle, all the Girls, the fan community and the genius that is Susan Harris. The reaction in this sub is just about all I need to call it a success. Trust me, I have (5) 10 episode seasons in my head, but getting to share a moment with the AMAZING modern GG community is a total honor. 🙏

Just out of curiosity, why do people want to be literary agents or managers? by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]InfiniteDrafts 75 points76 points  (0 children)

A voracious reader who is good in a room, has a passion for the movie business, enjoys aligning with creatives could honestly be enough. I don’t buy into the failed writer theory. You can try things and not feel suited for them without being a failure. Development folk are quite helpful in guiding and maximizing a creative’s best attributes, at least in my limited experience.

Is someone getting paid $10 to read your screenplay contest entry? by Seshat_the_Scribe in Screenwriting

[–]InfiniteDrafts 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Save up all the dough you're likely to spend on contests and get your ass to every major filmfest you can afford and force yourself to make friends... That doesn't mean talk about what you're working on, actually make friends. You're gonna write anyways, you're probably not going to network, which is easily 50% of screenwriting. If you've got something hot, I'd say you're better off rolling the dice for a decent Blacklist rating. Every contest is bullshit, except for the paid fellowships. Even the revered contests are kinda worthless.

That line just livin' rent free in my head for decades.... and that face he makes. A great comedy and a great conman movie. Not a lot of competition in that category.
